This book is nice, clear and well organized and there are some good, healthy and easy recipes that don't take too much time but not many unique recipes. Mostly of the recipes are something you already know how to cook. The food photos are great! I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review
I'm always looking for ways to save time in the kitchen, and one pan meals are my jam. I've bookmarked a whole bunch of recipes to try but the ones I've already made have been pretty tasty. Healthy nachos, chicken fajitas, shaksuka (no kale for us though). Next up I think is the pesto turkey meatballs with orzo. I especially like that almost all of the recipes contain food I'm likely to already have on hand and not ingredients that I would buy to only use one tablespoon of. I'll be adding recipes from this book to my index card box in the kitchen - pretty much the highest compliment I can pay to a cookbook.
I tried several recipes with mixed results. This is a great option for easy, quick and healthy meals when you're a family on the go!
I tried several of the recipes in this book, with mixed results. One of the recipes was wonderful. It was so delicious that I'm going to make it again sometime soon. The other recipe I tried was delicious, but I had to alter it a bit because when I used the cooking time listed, the food wasn't fully cooked. The recipe was for the Stovetop Lasagna, and after the 20 minutes of cooking time was up, the noodles were still hard and crunchy. So I had to finish it off in the oven. It was still delicious, but I find it disappointing when I'm using a cookbook and the recipe needs altering.
Tons of easy, yet healthy and delicious recipes! My partner and I work full-time so we'll definitely be trying these when we need a quick, but still yummy dinner.
I am a recipe addict. I'm forever flipping through cookbooks and magazines for new recipes and more nights than not am making something new and different for dinner. Or baking some yummy goodness. This is my first cookbook that I've been asked to review. I was given a temporary digital copy and I loved it so much that I've already put in my pre-order for the actual book when it comes out in June.
I loved how clean and crisp the format of the book is. It's not overly chaotic and makes it very easy to see what you need. A beautiful appetizing picture of the completed dish. A list of ingredients that are simple and easy to find. Short and concise directions: with sheet pan/dutch oven/slower cooker recipes they don't get much easier. A little tip or variation to keep it interesting. And the nutrition facts big and bold with nothing to hide. Because when you love cooking like I do, you need to keep it real sometimes.
When I go through a cook book I stick flags on all the pages I want to try (or pull the pages out of magazines) and sometimes it's just a bust that nothing sounds appetizing. But this one had me bookmarking so many pages that was my clue that I just needed to buy it.. I'll never get a chance to try all the recipes I want before my copy expires. I would highly recommend this cookbook and I'm going to be checking out others by this author.
Thank you #NetGalley and #DK for the opportunity to review this amazing cookbook.
Thank you to Alpha Publishing and Net Galley for the advance of this title in exchange for my honest review. I have long been a fan of one-pan dinners, but sometimes the choices seem limited. This book solves that. We've been trying to eat healthier, and these are delicious and varied.
Don't waste your time!! You already know how to make pizzas & cheeseburgers. Putting your baked beans and then the corn on the cob on the sheet as your ribs doesn't make it a one pan dinner. And simply adding kale doesn't automatically make it healthy and it certainly doesn't mean it makes it appealing.
I didn't see an exceptionally new ideas for increasing vegetable intake in these recipes. Nothing too inspired for fabulous new recipes (maybe someone would like a salmon Dutch baby) to add to your skill set. In fact, a lot oldies but goodies that you probably already can do well.
The book had excellent information about different types of cooking vessels at the beginning making me think it was for beginners. However, BE AWARE that I felt the prep & cook times were WAY off. Especially, for beginners. So don't depend on those when looking for a meal to fit into your time allotment.
I thought there poor instructions. For example, cutting a chicken breast into 8 pieces. I have purchased some mighty large chicken breasts that 8 pieces is NO WHERE near popcorn sized. Probably should have put a size versus number. One recipe called for a head of cabbage but didn't instruct in the ingredients to have it chopped, shredded, julienned??? And no where in the cooking instruction did it tell either. I can't imagine how most beginner cooks would incorporate that cabbage!
I thought the book was well laid out & some what attractive but it doesn't overcome the rest. Keep looking.
Healthy One Pan Dinners: 100 Easy Recipes for Your Sheet Pan, Skillet, Multicooker and More by Dana Angelo White is a great cookbook for those of us who enjoy cooking delicious meals and spending minimal time cleaning up afterwards.
The recipes are easy to make, and nutrition information is included with every recipe.
A friend once said, "A cookbook is a picture book for adults." Beautiful pictures accompany some of the recipes.
Thanks to DK, Alpha Books and #NetGalley for a temporary digital ARC of #HealthyOnePanDinners :100 Easy Recipes for Your Sheet Pan, Skillet, Multicooker and More by Dana Angelo White. The thoughts expressed here are my own.

Whenever I see the word “healthy” in the name of a cookbook or dish, I become skeptical. It seems everyone thinks they can make recipes healthy by taking out some of the ingredients that make the recipe tasty. While Dana Angelo White has several degrees and is a registered dietitian and nutrition and fitness consultant, that doesn’t necessarily mean she presents good recipes. However, Healthy One Pan Dinners: 100 Easy Recipes for Your Sheet Pan, Skillet, Multicooker and More includes some surprisingly mouthwatering dishes that everyone, even skeptics, will want to cook and eat. White has done a good job of adapting her recipes to a healthier lifestyle by cutting fat, calories, and the amount of meats, poultry, and fish (adding more healthy vegetables instead).
The recipes are mostly quite easy and doable for cooks of all levels. Almost everyone owns sheet pans, skillets, casserole dishes, slow cookers, and maybe a multi-cooker, so the recipes can be made without having to go out an purchase new appliances or pans. Given that, these dishes can be prepared in almost any kitchen. One of the plusses of the recipes is that they call for ingredients that are readily available. The recipes themselves are easy-to-follow and there are good explanations at the beginning of each recipe which helps the cook get to know just what the dish entails. There are some beautiful photographs in this cookbook; although I’m a firm believer that a proper cookbook should include a photograph of every dish, because cooks want to know what each of their dishes will look like. Most cookbooks today barely have a few, but this cookbook has more than most, and that is helpful.
Anyone interested in making more healthy dishes will find several good recipes that will appeal to them. The recipes work as they should and are tasty.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
I definitely love the variety in this cookbook. Typically "one pan" cookbooks are limited to one specific type of pan. All in a pot. All sheet pan. All dutch oven. This book has recipes for all of those and more. Each recipe has the nutritional breakdown and photos.
Easy-to-use and colorful. Recipes are organized by cooking apparatus (so if your Dutch oven is dirty, you can just page over to the cast iron skillet chapter). Everything from sheet pan pizza to chicken noodle soup in a slow cooker. Recipes mostly use common ingredients. My only complaint is that I like a 1:1 photo to recipe ratio, and I could have used some more pictures. Otherwise everything in here sounds delicious.
This is a colorful, easy to use cookbook that would be a real plus for anyone who is faced with coming home from work and cooking meals every night. Simple ingredients and easy prep are another plus. Photos are superb and the only negative is that I wish there were more of them. What makes this cookbook unique is that, as the title states, all these dishes are made in one pan and recipes are categorized by the type of pan they are cooked in: sheet pan, skillet, dutch oven, baking dish, and slow cooker or multicooker. Who would have ever thought to make sheet pan pancakes? What a great idea! I'll be ordering a copy for my library.
When I review a cookbook, I typically only find a few recipes that I'd want to try. They're usually too complex or require too much time. This cookbook is a refreshing change. I'd try more than half of the recipes in this book, and find them easy to follow. From new takes on old favorites to recipes that are new to me, I think this will be a book I'd like to purchase when published. The premise is that the recipes are healthy and "one-pan," but in reality, the "one-pan" sometimes turns into two. For instance, perhaps a skillet is used to prep for a sheet pan meal. Or, one needs a skillet to saute things before putting into a slow cooker. But, I'm not deterred by that extra pan (only in a few cases). The photos that are provided are very appetizing, but I question the recipes chosen for this extra. For instance, most everyone knows what chicken enchiladas or a sheet pan pizza would look like, so why not include photos of the less-common dishes such as the arepa casserole or watermelon panzanella with fresh mint (which would probably be quite colorful!)
The book itself is gorgeous with bright, bold pictures and well organized recipes. I love that each recipe gives the nutritional content. Many of the recipes look delicious and I can't wait to try them!
All the steps and ingredients were well explained on how to prep them. The dishes were fantastic and easy to make.
This is such a neat cookbook! Don't get lost on the name and cover as it is so much more than sheet pan recipes. It also includes baking pan, slow cooker, dutch oven, and skillet recipes. For the most part, the recipes are simple and appealing to the masses. There are a few in each section that seem too exotic for this type of cookbook but that's just my opinion. The layout and colors of the cookbook are really inviting. Great style and probably a cookbook I will buy a hardcopy of for my kitchen.
Fun cookbook! I thought this would only be about sheet pan recipes, but it was so much more! I loved that there were many different One Pan recipes for sheet pan, dutch ovens, baking dish, and more. I think that makes this book unique. I wish there were more photos, but the photos in the book were beautiful!
You eat with your eyes. That's what they say. And this book is full of gorgeous, colorful, delicious-looking dishes. I haven't made any of them yet, but it is so satisfying to just leaf through the pages and look through the pictures that I plan to put some on menu.
Sets up book by describing different pans that you would use for the meals. Divided recipes by pan and some interesting recipes. And recipe will say if it is dairy free, gluten free or whatever if it is.
