You can’t catch me by Catherine McKenzie
First I want to thank Netgalley and Simon & Schuster for the ARC version of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I could not put this book down! The story was riveting, the characters were engaging and the plot and unexpected twists!! I think this is the fastest I’ve read a book in years! I finished in 2 days with 4am nights falling asleep holding my ereader! I was so invested that I needed to know what happened next.
What are the chances of two Jessica’s born the same day and same year... apparently far more common than one would think in this book at least. From a cult upbringing making the main Jessica a little more vulnerable but also suspicious enough to not let things go; a simple drink leads to a cat and mouse chase as she tracks down the thief who is ruining her life!
I can’t say munch more without major spoiler alerts so I won’t but I will say if you enjoy a suspense or a crime thriller this is the book for you! Absolutely in my top 10 for 2020!!

Jessica Williams has had a hard life. Her parents joined a cult where she lived for 12 years. When she was nearing 18 years of age, she escapes from the cult. A grifter with the her same name and birth date manages to secure her identity and takes all of her money. Jessica is a journalist and in her research, she discovers there are others with her same name and birthdate. She develops an elaborate plan for revenge. This is her story.

This was a very cool cat and mouse type thriller, which was very fast paced and enjoyable to read. Was it a little far fetched at times? Sure. But this book had everything. Mystery, intrigue, murder, cults, identity theft - it was all there and made the story quite unique.

The main character Jessica Williams managed to escape living in a cult. She made a life for herself. Then one day in an airport bar she meets another Jessica Williams. Not only do the two women share a name, but they share the same birthday. It's such a weird coincidence that the two end up chatting and sharing a drink together. Not long after, Jessica realizes that her identity has been stolen as well as all of her money, by who she calls 'Jessica Two'.

This book had quite a bit of suspense as Jessica worked to track down her stolen money. It took a lot of turns but one final twist near the end was really well executed! Overall, I enjoyed this one and look forward to future books from this author!

So this was quite a story!
I'm so glad I read it. I do like the writing style of Catherine McKenzie. Her mysteries are fast-paced and slightly twisted. This book did not disappoint!
I have to admit there was a couple times while reading that the back and forth between Jess's life in the LOT and her current life with Liam, or lack there of, got stale momentarily. Liam seems great and all but I just didn't want to know about that relationship. I knew they weren't meant to be and I wanted to stay focused on the Jessica situation. That part of the story was freaking cool!
Imagine if someone stole your identity and then stole your money. UGH. It's a crazy notion but one that could happen to anyone!
Yup, fans will enjoy this one.
New readers will find this a good place to start!

Thank you Simon and Schuster for my digital copy of You Can't Catch Me!

3D chess anyone? Catherine McKenzie takes the reader on a twisty tale from a tragic beginning to a wild ride all around. Irl I love coincidences or synchronicities. However, in this story coincidences are a very bad thing, no matter how amazing they may seem.

I enjoyed this book. It'll be an awesome TV movie!

You Can't Catch Me had me hooked by the end of the first chapter.

Jessica Williams is at an airport bar waiting for her flight when she meets a woman with the same name. They spend some time chatting before their flights and realize that not only do they have the same name but they were born on the same day, too. They compare other details of their life, exchange numbers and go their separate ways. Jessica (One) unplugs for the week and when she gets back from her vacation, she discovers that her bank account is empty. After talking to the bank and the police, she discovers that there is not much they can do and she probably won't see her money again. Jessica decides to take matters in her own hands. She starts to look for Jessica (Two) and in the process finds other Jessica Williams' that also had their money stolen.

This was an enjoyable read and surprisingly all of the Jessica's were not that hard to keep track of as the story went on. Jessica (One) grew up in a cult and escaped around her 18th birthday, so she does not have family around to support her. The one person that she can count on is Liam who helped her escape the cult knows how to track down people. Liam does what he can to assist Jessica, but she is determined to be the one to find the person who stole her money and get one step ahead of her.

You Can't Catch Me this a fast-paced story and there was more than one twist that I did not see coming. I would definitely recommend this book for your summer reading list.

The twists and turns are a delight! This is a story of different identities, plots and schemes....but mostly about revenge. Loved it!

I flew this book so fast because it is that readable! You need to find out exactly what is going on as each part develops. Identity theft, growing up in a cult, a little love, and so much more! I had to read this book after an author discussion between the author and Kimberly Belle, who gets kudos in this book when a character is reading one of her books! I love it when characters actually read in a book! This is only my second book by the author but I will definitely be reading more soon! Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy to read and review!

You Can’t Catch Me is a fast-paced thriller about a young woman who has fled a cult and who becomes caught up in a game of cat and mouse with a grifter who has stolen her identify and her money. Setting out on a mission to catch the imposter, this story has some great twists and turns that I didn’t see coming! As the story unfolds, the author raises an interesting point as to what makes us who and what we are - is it nature or nurture? The ending was unexpected and brought all the pieces together to a satisfying conclusion. A great read - highly recommended. Thanks to Simon and Schuster Canada for this advance copy!

Wow! This book was an absolute thrill ride that kept me guessing from beginning to end. I absolutely devoured Catherine’s last book - I’LL NEVER TELL - and she takes the twists and turns up several notches further in YOU CAN’T CATCH ME.

Jessica Williams has endured a lot of drama in her life including surviving being raised in a cult. In the real world she finds success as a journalist only to be discredited and fired for plagiarism. Choosing to escape the scandal by heading to Mexico on vacation she is befriended by another Jessica Williams at the airport bar. But this Jessica isn’t interested in friendship, she’s after money. Returning from her vacation to find her bank accounts empty, Jessica One starts off on a journey to find the imposter and get even.

There are so many intricate layers to the story that on their own could carry an entire novel but woven together by McKenzie they perfectly craft a taut, fast-paced and highly readable novel. YOU CAN’T CATCH ME is a perfect summer read.

Thanks to Simon & Schuster Canada for the advance reading copy.

When Jessica Williams was a teenager she escaped from a cult. Now, years later she’s a disgraced journalist who’s been the victim of a con artist with the same name as her and she’s determined to catch her. This book is full of twists and turns and was just the binge worthy thriller I needed. I’m not normally a fan of storylines involving cults but this one was really well done and I enjoyed that aspect of the story. I saw part of the twist coming but the last one completely threw me. A great thriller!

Synopsis
Have you ever met your twin? What about someone with the same name? Same birthday?

“You Cant Catch Me” follows the story of Jess Williams. A journalist who was recently fired as she jets off for an unplugged vacation. No email, no facebook, no twitter, no insatsagram.... a break or running away?
A simple mistake in the airport, another “Jess” leads to identity theft.
Jess 1 won’t take it lying down, and childhood friend Liam is there to help her.

REVIEW
The story immediately pulls the reader in. Right off we learn that Jess was raised in a cult, and while she was was rescued and has moved on in her life its a past with consequences. The reader gets the sense that something is left unfinished and unsaid. Identity theft and a blooming romance distract the reader from subtle cues and details as Jess’s story unfolds. Multiple Jess’s pop up, each with their own story of identity theft to unravel. The author slowly weaves in details of cult life through Jess 1’s memories, introducing “the Twists”, the other child survivors from “The Land of Todd”. As a reader you are led back and forth, the storyline becomes expected, a resolution clear, and then BAM! You are sidelined and as the ending unfolds, you are left second guessing what you read. How did I miss that?
A fabulous read! 4/5 for me. I love an unexpected ending!!! Highly recommended for fans of Lisa Gardner, Lisa Jewell.

3.5 stars! This was a quick read but it had a lasting impression on me. I really enjoyed the storyline and loved the characters. I was kept guessing what was going to happen next throughout the whole book. I thought it had the potential to be a 5 star read but I felt a little let down in the end. Overall it was still enjoyable and I do recommend checking it out!

Many thanks to NetGalley, Simon & Schuster Canada and Catherine McKenzie for a free electronic ARC of this novel received in exchange for an honest review.

I found "You Can't Catch Me" to be a great summer read, in true page-turner fashion! It was a good mix of suspense, romance and deep dive into the main character's psyche and coming of age story. If you liked McKenzie's previous books, I strongly recommend this one too!

Jessica Williams is a young journalist who became known after writing a story about a cult, only to then be fired for plagiarism and publicly humiliated. Wanting to escape, she decides to go on a trip to Mexico. Only, she gets conned on her way there by a woman sharing the same name. Then begins a chase to get her money back; an adventure that will bring her across state lines, through her past, along with other Jessica Williamses.

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster Canada an advance reader’s copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I’m a big fan of Catherine McKenzie’s and I’ve read all her novels and Was very excited to get an advance copy of her latest book.

This book grabbed me from the first few pages and I couldn’t put it down until it was finished. Thankfully it’s really fast paced. So many twists and turns and the epilogue I definitely didn’t see coming but appreciated because there were a few things I was a bit iffy on that definitely made more sense with the epilogue.

Inherent in this book is also a public service announcement about how much do we share with strangers - online and in person sometimes .

4.5 ⭐️

I loved Catherine Mackenzie’s previous novel I’ll Never Tell so I was looking forward to reading You Can’t Catch Me. I was not disappointed.
Jessica Williams has lost her job as a journalist. Accused of plagiarism Jessica has managed to negotiate an agreement with her employer. Jessica goes on vacation to Mexico to avoid the media frenzy the plagiarism has stirred up. Waiting for her flight in the airport bar Jessica meets another Jessica Williams. They discover they have a lot in common. Both women go their separate ways after exchanging numbers.
Jessica arrives home to find she is missing huge amounts of cash from her accounts. Immediately suspicious Jessica starts to look for the woman she met at the airport she refers to as Jessica Two. Enlisting the help of friend and private investigator Liam the search begins. Other Jessica Williams that have been swindled are unearthed and join in the search for Jessica Two.
There are many twists and turns throughout the novel. Jessica’s story as well as the other Jessica Williams stories are slowly revealed during the search for Jessica Two. Despite the many Jessica’s in the story it was always clear which Jessica was which.
I found the story interesting and captivating from the beginning. As the story progress I felt like I knew where it was heading but there were still surprises at the end. Great read!
