I didn’t want to put this down I was engrossed from start to finish, the plot was engaging and there was plenty of drama and suspense

This was a delicious book to devour, it was different than many books I’ve read lately so I was thoroughly invested in this one.

The Harpies

I think they should have been called something else! Vicious little madams who tormented Grace. The quieter one of the pact.
Something terrible happened and years later events are unfolding.........
Suicides are happening....
But why?
And why are they “seeing” Grace? Grace is dead!

A very well written book with lots of readers to get their teeth into.

Unfortunately this book was not for me. Other readers may enjoy it more, but I could not get into it and ultimately did not finish it.

Thanks Netgalley for a free copy! This book is about the Mean Girls! I liked it! It makes you think twice about how your actions affect others. I rate this book a 4.0

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

I loved the first 60% of this book. I enjoyed the high school girl click drama, the flashbacks, as well as the current timeline that the book covered. This started out as a four maybe almost 5 star read for me. However after about 65 to 70% of the book was read, I got completely bored, and the story just fell apart for me. I had a hard time continuing being interested, and it was dragging. Hence I only give it three stars.

Emily was once a Harpy which is part of a group of bullies in high school. She is now a therapist. In highschool she bullied a girl name Grace . That’s a secret she hold as to what they did to Grace.
When one of the harpies dies and Grace returns Emily doesn’t know what to think.
So this story felt so real. Full of grudges and revenge and all those high school dramas. I enjoyed every minute of it.

I think this is a case of it sounds interesting enough but it never really fully takes off.

To an outsider, Emily Bennett has it all. She spends her day as a therapist helping others overcome their own trauma, and she is engaged to a textbook perfect man. What people don't know is there in her high school years, she was part of a popular group of girls who bullied the new girl to breaking point. Now, 14 years later, it seems that the skeletons in Emily's closet are coming back to haunt her.

When I first finished this, I gave it three stars, as I enjoyed it enough. Yet, when it came to writing this review, I realised that there was a lot that I didn't enjoy, and consequently lowered my rating to 2 stars. The story itself is engaging enough. I did think that it started off a little slower than the average thriller, which meant it took me a little longer than normal to become invested in the story. As the book is set around someone who works as a mental health professional, and also a story containing lots of themes surrounding the topic of mental health, I found a lot of the writing to be quite tone-deaf. Like, for example, the character says that she knew one of her clients was "a cutter" straight away. It just didn't sit well with me! I'm also pretty done with the unreliable female narrator trope. It has been so overdone now that all the books blend into one.

Overall, I thought this was an okay book. It wasn't anything special, and I think the discussions around mental health could have been better. Glad I gave it a go, but not for me!

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for sending me a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

This book was kind of all over the place for me. The writing wasn’t really sharp and well tied-together. I thought the first few chapters were pretty boring and wasn’t sure if I was going to continue, but then the story got more interesting toward the middle to end of the book. The main character is Emily who is a therapist and the book goes back and forth in time to her middle school days when she was part of a mean girl clique called the Harpies. This is far beyond your typical mean girl stuff and the repercussions of what they did to a girl named Grace have come back to haunt them as adults. Thanks to #netgalley and #lakeunionpublishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. #GirlGoneMad

This book has a past and present theme. Its a book about friendships, mental illness, and peer pressure. Its actually a big book , but peservere with it as its worth it.

The archive date was not visible to me after I downloaded it. So, I thought to read it later because I had a lot of other books that were expiring and out of nowhere when I visited this book again it was archived and I had no prior knowledge of that.

After reading One Year Gone by Avery Bishop and loving the twists and turns and the crazy ending, when I saw that she had another thriller out - I knew I wanted to give it a go and read. Girl Gone Mad first has an awesome cover that drew me in and I have a total cover crush on the book. This book starts with an intense beginning where there are a group of girls surrounding one of them while the one, they are surrounding is tied to a tree and repeating the rhyme of "Sticks and Stones". The book then jumps to the present time and we meet Emily Bennett. Emily has on the outside the perfect life, she is a therapist and engaged however looks can be deceiving as her partner Daniel and her hardly ever talk, and when they do it's just in passing and she visits a therapist herself. One day Emily is told by her mother that one of her childhood friends Olivia has killed herself. Emily then is contacted by another of her old school friends asking if she is going to go to the funeral. We learn that Emily hasn't spoken to these school friends after the incident happened with who we later learn was Grace tied to the tree. After that bullying incident, the girls went their separate ways. After Olivia's funeral, we discover another of their friends' Destiny has been killed too and it is seeming that all roads lead to Grace - the girl that their group tormented. Has Grace returned for revenge on those who bullied her or has someone else decided to join in with the fun and out their ruining lives? Girl Gone Mad by Avery Bishop had the feel of some of the 90's/2000's slasher films - like Valentine starring David Boreanaz or Urban Legend 3: Bloody Mary.

This book was tough to read at many points throughout. So many of the topics really put me off of it. I think the author tried to put in as much shocking and disturbing things solely for the shock value. As a teacher I see so many of these actions from girls, but the author really just took it to the next level and that made me second guess so much of what I see in the classroom. Overall, I really enjoyed the book and it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time, and the ending just rocked me to my core. If you have a tough stomach, and a strong heart then this book is for you. For me, it really killed me inside.

First book I’ve read by this author. It was an enjoyable read if sometimes really disturbing showing how peer pressure in young people is rife and the terrible consequences that occur.

An interesting read that was a slow burn for me. It took quite a while for me for the book to pick up the pace but once it does the story picks up and moves along much more quickly. Full of mean girls, pranks, and bullying that can go wrong. Years later it all comes back to haunt them.

Overall a good read that I would recommend.

Holy cow!!!! This book was not at all what I expected! It was amazing in its sinister story! Literally frightening, looking into the mind of someone who’s been abused and then does the abusing. Great read... literally kept me up at night!!

I received a copy of the book from Netgalley to review. Thank you for the opportunity.
A twisty and intensely dark story that acts as an expose of the cruelty 9f teens. The writing is good but the subject matter was too dark for me.
An OK read.

Holy cow!!! I just finished reading an AWESOME book!! I can't believe I didn't read this when I first got it from @netgalley. I loved every minute. It was so thought out, and I truly could not put it down. It is truly amazing how awful kids can be to one another. Girls can be so mean and vicious, and this book definitely shows what bullying can do to everyone involved. Highly recommend!!!

Bullying/Mean Girls have been around forever. We’ve all known them, dealt with them, maybe even been them, May we never raise them. But, Avery Bishop brings Mean Girls to a new level in this book. I think at some point, we can all relate to something in this book, but hopefully all the bully’s we have known have grown up and matured.

Scary, eye opening book about how choices and things we’ve done in our youth can come back and haunt us. A work of fiction but not out of the realm of reality. Fast paced storyline and good character development. I look forward to the authors next book.

Thanks to Ms, Bishop, Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC.

A great novel, gripping, fast paced page turner. A little different theme from the usual book but overall very good.
