I Hate You, Fuller James is a standalone Contemporary Romance about Wren and Fuller.

I Hate You, Fuller James is the first book I’ve read by Kelly Anne Blount and won’t be the last one! I really liked this book, and it was hard to put this one down. I just wanted to know what was going to happen to the characters. This book was just so cute!

I really like that Wren isn’t just a smart girl, but also into sports. Most of the time you get either a smart girl or a sporty girl but not both. It’s also really cute how much she and her grandpa are into basketball. Fuller was kind of a jerk in the beginning of the book, but I loved how much he’s changed.

I Hate You, Fuller James is such a good and quick Contemporary read. I love reading Contemporary books in between Fantasy or Romance books because they’re always so fast paced and most of the time also really cute. I really liked I Hate You, Fuller James and I cannot wait to read more books by Kelly Anne Blount!

I hate you, Fuller James is a classic tale. Boy meets girl. Girl has a difference of opinion with friend. One becomes popular and the others smart.

Wren’s future is already looking promising. All she has to do is survive the wicked tournaments of high school. When she’s asked to tutor the one person she hates more than anything she realises high school isn’t over yet. She isn’t really given a choice when it comes to Fuller.

Fuller James likes sports but isn’t academic. He needs to raise his grades if he wants to stand any chance at attending university. He’s embarrassed he has to have a tutor and tries to cover it up.

This is a predictable tale but has a nice family back story. The lesson learnt is a valuable one and the characters are likeable. I personally don’t mind when I know where the stories heading and this was a good read. It’s for fans of films like she’s all that and never been kissed.

This does have a bully theme including the classic mean girl.

4 stars out of 5.

This was an adorable and fun story that I thoroughly enjoyed. This is a story that will undoubtedly put a smile on your face. The pages just flew by.

The characters were very relatable. The author did a great job of showing their personalities through the writing. Both Wren and Fuller had a lot of depth and they both had a lot more underneath the surface. They both also had great character development in the story.
The secondary characters were likable and I honestly would have loved to see more of them in the story. I also loved the friendships and the family relationships in the story.

I really liked the bond that Wren and Fuller form in the story. These are two teenagers that walk different high school paths but once they actually open up to one another they find that they have a lot in common on a deeper level. While they start off at odds with one another, their gradual conversations lead them to feeling more for each other than they ever thought possible. They had such a comfortable chemistry with one another. It felt so natural.

I liked the plot of the story. Even though it wasn't an unpredictable plot, it really didn't need to be. The tropes that are explored in this story are written very well. The author even makes the reader really care about the story and I couldn't put the book down.

Overall, this was a delightful story that was fun to read. The story touches upon issues like bullying, and to a lesser degree dementia, and does a wonderful job of addressing them. I liked the bully's redemption in the story. I am glad that I gave this one a shot and I would definitely read this author again.

Any book that starts out with a food fight and proceeds to have references to The Hate You Give and Princess Bride is a huge win for me.
This book has character. And by that I mean the main characters have spirit, back stories, lives, and growth. Told from alternating PoV we get the full story but not like a normal romcom. This one the guy knows he screwed up and we have to watch it snowball more and more out of control.
It's fantastic and I finished in a day.
Highly recommend if you enjoy a good laugh and some pop culture references added in!

I hate you, Fuller James was a mixture of Ten Things I hate about you and One Tree Hill. It was a cute, fluffy sports romance and I do like the nerd and a jock trope.

I really loved Wren’s best friend’s, they were both so protective and loyal to her and that was really nice to see. I also liked how Wren’s grandpa warmed up to Fuller so easily. It’s always nice when a story has good side characters. I did like the end of the story.

This book was a good, fast read, though it was predictable. I’d still recommend it if you are looking for a book to read at any time of the year though. It was a four star rating.

Wren Carter has been tormented by highschool basketball star Fuller James for years. In fact he was the reason she had a nickname that she hated and when his latest antics has her retaliating for a brief moment she finds herself having to tutor Fuller in their AP Literature class. Wren would rather do anything else then help the school Lothario but her options are limited and she can't refuse. Wren makes it clear to Fuller she wants nothing to do with him, add in the fact that they are supposed to keep it secret that she is tutoring him it makes it even more difficult.

Fuller is furious with himself about having to be a tutor but his future depends on getting good grades. He doesn't expect to get to know Wren, her certainly doesn't expect to fall for her. There is one small problem though he made up a lie that can't get back to Wren about why they are spending time together and it could make what they are building implode, can he come clean before it is too late?

I loved this, you laugh, cry all the emotions you would want from this type of book is in there. Fuller is cocky and a bit of a jerk in the beginning but he sees a different side of himself with Wren. Loved Wren, she is determined and I liked that she was her own independent woman. Excellent story.

A hate-to-love romance AND a sports romance? Two of my favorites. Bring. It. On.

Wren and Fuller actually have a lot in common, they just never knew until they were thrown together in an annoying tutoring set up. Both put family above all else, both are very driven to pursue college and their future careers, both live and breathe basketball. The only difference is, they live in two completely different worlds.

Fuller is the best basketball player this school has ever seen. He's also part of the popular crowd and the reason Wren gained a horrible nickname and lost her best friend in middle school.

Wren doesn't mind being an outsider anymore. She's worked HARD to move past all the bullshit and has two best friends and her family that would do anything for her. Next step is to leave the rest of the people from high school in her dust.

I really loved seeing inside each of their worlds, particularly through the dual perspective writing. Their romance is whirlwind and exciting, I just wish there was a little more build up from Fuller's side first. We see a glimpse of his tough guy act, but we don't really see enough to know why it's there in the first place, or to give more meaning to his softened personality when he starts falling for Wren. He's fully able to recognize that he's a big jerk and possibly has a history of being shallow, but why? I wish he had been a little more introspective, and that we had gotten more of a look at his daily life before Wren got stuck with him.

I thoroughly enjoyed two of my favorite tropes wrapped in one for this YA romance. While I wanted more depth and character growth, I still had a lot of fun with this book.

This book is adorable and I love both Wren and Fuller. They are everything teenagers are supposed to be. They think too much about little things. They worry about being made fun of or not being accepted by their peers. Yet, at heart, both are good kids and don't like hurting others.
Wren hates Fuller, that's no secret. But then suddenly two are spending too much time together. Obviously, everyone around them is curious. No one knows the real reason and stupidly Fuller says things that complicate the situation. He thinks it's no big deal until he starts falling for her. Now he has messed up one good thing that has happened to him in a long, long time. Will Wren ever forgive him and give him another chance or are they just too different to be together? Read to find out and be ready to fall in love with some of the sweetest literary characters ever written.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good YA or contemporary romance novel. This book is a page-turner that you shouldn't miss. ;)

Overall rating - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars

A huge thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Crush for this ARC.

It was a really cute enemies to lovers romance. Fuller and Wren were total opposite side of the popularity spectrum but that's the beauty of their story. It was tipical high school romance where the jock tries to win a bet but falls in love instead. I had a great time reading this romantic comedy. Fuller and Wren were fun characters and I was swooning half the time. Though it has its drama moments but it's still very relatable. It was a tipical high school romance and if you are a fan of 'The Duff' or 'She's all That' or 'Ten Things I hate about You' then its definitely for you. This book was entertaining, cute, swoony with lots of drama and stupid bets and jealous ex bestfriends that we all hate. You all are gonna hate Fuller James too but but wait till he makes you fall in love with him. It was a fun and refreshing read and I will definitely recommend it. Hope you all have a great time with this cute story too. It was my first Kelly Anne Blount book but not my last. I am looking forward to read of her books in the future. Happy reading since it's

I really enjoyed this quick read. It was cute and entertaining. You really get a glimpse into high school stereotypes, a glimpse into blending lines and realizing that you don’t always need to do certain things to be popular. Sometimes it’s just more important to just be yourself.

It was interesting to see how the main characters felt about themselves and their actions. I think it’s great when people realize their mistakes and correct them, sure it could have been done much sooner but then it wouldn’t be a story. I really relished in the 80’s movies references in this book. It’s a great movie period for teens that I hope it’s never forgotten, and this book did it some justice and then throwing in some Marvel. I’m all about that life so it was even nicer for me to see in a contemporary book.

There are so many types of people in this world and I think when you come to new revelations about yourselves and your actions that’s what makes a person. Loved this book. Very cute story and quick read.

A cute YA romance that also highlights friendship, standing up for what's right, and loving your family.

Wren has a hard time of things at school. Academically she is doing great, but socially she is not treated well by a majority of her classmates. She particularly dislikes Fuller James the popular basketball player who she is forced to tutor. During their time together they both learn that there's more than meets the eye.

The story moves at a quick pace. While I did not particularly like Fuller at the beginning, he did grow a lot as the plot progressed. There is a bet involved that gave the story a little bit of She's All That vibes. I could definitely see this being a teen TV show or movie plot.

I totally picked this book because of the cover...how cliche’ is that? Fuller is a hunky high school captain of the basketball team jerk face, I mean jock who thinks life is all about popularity and basketball. (Two things he has in spades). Wren is the cute nerdy girl who has been hounded by bullies since 7th grade. When the two are forced to study together things get heated in good and bad ways.
I enjoyed the cute high school romance, the fleshed-out characters, and the momentum/length of the book. This is truly a cute quick read that helps you believe in first love and second chances!!

This is an adorable hate to love romance.

Wren and Fuller have an extremely contentious relationship. When Fuller is failing AP English he’s paired with her to raise his grade so he doesn’t get benched for the first basketball game of the season. Wren has avoided him as much as possible since he gave her a horrible nickname in seventh grade that won’t go away. Sparks fly as soon as they start working together and they’d quickly discover they have more in common than they would have ever thought.

This was a quick and fun rom-com. I was entertained by the interactions between Fuller and Wren. The plot felt a little familiar since it had a few similarities with the movie She’s All That - with the popular boy, unpopular girl and a bet. But I didn’t mind that because it’s a movie I loved to watch on repeat and it made this story feel familiar and enjoyable.

“He was the reason I’d given up on being friends with girls after Marissa, Courtney, and practically every other girl in my class started making fun of me. I couldn’t trust that my own gender wouldn’t throw me under the bus the next time a guy like Fuller James gave them the opportunity.”*

Wren can’t stand Fuller. Because of him, she got stuck with a stupid nickname. Because of him, lost her best friend. Because of him, she ended up in the principle’s office. Now, she’s forced to tutor him or she’ll be suspended. Spending quality time with him shows her a whole new side of Fuller, one that she might just fall in love with, but Fuller has a secret, one that will make Wren hate him more than she did in middle school.

The story is told in first person from both Wren and Fuller’s points of view. Both characters are nicely developed and fun. The secondary characters, particularly Wren’s friends, Dae and Brandon, and Fuller’s little brother Hudson are great. I loved the the triad’s strong friendship, and how the boys are always there for Wren, especially when her relationship with Fuller goes sideways. Hudson brings out Fuller’s soft side. Also of note is Wren’s close relationship with her grandfather, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. Several pop culture references are woven into the narrative in significant ways, which on one hand date the book, but on the other hand speak to the character’s personalities. Personally, I like how they are integrated. Wren’s obsession with nerds candy is a bit on the nose, but feels like an inside joke, one the reader is in on, and plays well with the jock/nerd romance trope.

I am a fan of Entangled’s young adult lines. Crush constantly delivers category-length feel good contemporary romances, and this one is no exception.

I Hate You, Fuller James by Kelly Anne Blount on the surface seems to have your typical rom-com tropes. There’s the popular athlete, a nerdy girl that gets bullied, the ex-best friend turned popular, mean girl, and a bet involving getting a girl. Truly, I think most people can guess how I Hate You, Fuller James ends. However, despite the predictability, I absolutely adored I Hate You, Fuller James.

In the story, Wren is forced to tutor Fuller in order to get Fuller’s grades up to play basketball. However, Fuller’s coach wants to keep Fuller’s tutoring a secret to prevent it from ruining the team’s dynamics. From the start, Fuller and Wren don’t have a great relationship due to their past, and Fuller really messes up by creating a bet to coverup his tutoring sessions. As the story progresses and I learned about their individual struggles both personally at home, it became very heartwarming.

I think Fuller James shines in this story. He makes a lot of mistakes and starts off with a view of high school I think a lot of teens struggle with. It was wonderful watching him grow as a character and realize what’s truly important and what makes a good friend. Wren, on the other hand, has great friends despite her social status. I think in the story, she learned to be more open-minded and forgiving, which was nice.

My only major issue with the story was the fact that the coach wanted to keep Fuller’s tutoring a secret. I thought it was a lot of pressure to put onto a teenager, and instead the coach could have used the situation to bring the team together.

I thoroughly enjoyed I Hate You, Fuller James by Kelly Anne Blount. It’s the perfect quick, feel-good read. I highly recommend it for rom-com fans.

First, let me say that I'm not the biggest fan of teen romance novels so this story was way out of my regular reading zone. However, I'm so happy that I had an opportunity to read this book because I LOVED it!! I like that the cover didn't feature people and instead featured candy which is referenced quite a bit in the book. It would have been great if the candy could have resembled Nerds due to the many times that its mentioned.

The author did a great job of starting the story in a humorous way and establishing the two main characters. I disliked Fuller while being impressed with Wren who was resilient. At some point I was shipping a Wreller or Wruller or Fren romance--I won't tell you if it happens. I think part of the pacing for the potential romance was a bit rushed but, other than that the pacing was pretty good throughout the book. The world building was nice and it felt like a small town community that any reader could relate to. I'm from North Carolina and familiar with some of the areas referenced, so this definitely satisfied that hometown feel.

The author does a fantastic job of including some cultural references such as The Hate U Give, Say Anything, and Princess Bride. Many of these elements were built into the story which only added to the depth of the characters while making the story relatable. I loved all of the characters, and how both mental and medical health awareness were included in this story.

Overall, I loved this book and didn't want to stop reading it. It is definitely worth 5 stars. I look forward to reading more from this author and publisher.

I was hoping something fun and cute would break me out of my reading rut, but unfortunately I Hate You, Fuller James didn’t end up being that fun or that cute.

The whole tutoring premise started out a little rough for me. The principal of the school straight up blackmails Wren into tutoring the star basketball player. He threatens her with not only multiple days of detention, but suspension because she was caught on video throwing food during a food fight in the cafeteria. The suspension would also mean she would miss out on a prestigious STEM camp. However, if she tutors Fuller, that will be her only punishment. And Fuller’s punishment will be…getting tutored. We later find out that someone else caught on camera throwing food only gets two days of lunch-time detention – which won’t interfere with his spot on the basketball team. So that was all ridiculous enough, but then the basketball coach, who is also Wren’s uncle, asks them both to keep the tutoring a secret. The reasoning is that if the rest of the team finds out their star player may not play in the first game if his grades don’t improve, the team will implode and they’ll never make it to State. That makes perfect sense, right?

So when Fuller is caught by one of his friends going to a the library with Wren for his first tutoring session, he covers for it by making a bet about how he’s hooking up with Wren and will trick her into being his girlfriend and then he’ll dump her. Of course, once he gets to know Wren he realizes she’s the most wonderful girl in all the world and tries to cover his tracks on the bet so she they can be together and she won’t get mad at him.

This book was ridiculous. There were a couple of cute moments here and there, but honestly Fuller just said so many gross things in the beginning of the book that I could never quite like him. Wren was really naive and emotional and very self-involved and I found her a little hard to like, as well. I kept hoping something big would happen later in the story that would make me love it, but it didn’t happen. Even the Big Romantic Gesture, which was based off of two movies I really enjoy, felt very lackluster to me.

Overall, I Hate You, Fuller James left me very underwhelmed. The initial premise with the tutoring didn’t work for me and Fuller’s behavior in the beginning of the book really kept me from rooting for him and Wren later in the story. However, I am definitely not in the target audience age range for this book, so those that are may find this much more enjoyable than I did.

Overall Rating (out of 5): 2 Stars
