This was a sweet romantic story of Lauren and Andrew who meet for a moment and connect. They then meet again at Andrew's cancer treatment where Lauren is interning as a pharmacist. Though their relationship starts in a strange way, their connection is strong and the story is a delight to read. I enjoyed both characters and the levels of stress and strain the author painted in their relationship felt very real. Overall, this is a sweet story and I will look for more by this author! Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.
Perfect Distraction was a perfect distraction. I loved the heart-wrenching story of Lauren and Andrew. Ashley's background as a oncology pharmacist was evident in the realism of both Andrew's cancer and Lauren's career.
Lauren is in an iffy place dating Andrew who was briefly a client but is no longer her patient. And it doesn't get more iffy than dating a cancer patient. She's so great with Andrew and their love story is so genuine that it's a risk she keeps choosing to continue against her constant doubts.
Andrew, wow. He's doing incredibly well in law school, dating a women he really cares for and successfully completing an internship, all while battling cancer. He's just such a cool guy. He's gorgeous but not at all arrogant because of it. He's caring and supportive with Lauren and so into her. Ah, if only all guys were more like Andrew.
This story touched me, tore me up at times and warmed my cynical heart.
This is a super sweet romantic novel of Lauren and Andrew who met in the most unusual of circumstances. Despite the adversity they were facing, they opted to be kind, optimistic and were the true testament that love does conquer all. Cancer also puts in perspective how precious life is.
I'm told this is a debut novel by this author - well, if that's true, I can guarantee she's going to have a long and prosperous career as a writer.
This story was so multileveled, emotionally and educationally, that I don't know where to start. Suffice it to say, this author know how to write emotion, educate about intense medical conditions, and elicit a wide range of emotions from the reader.
Oncology Pharmacist Lauren never thinks the big, handsome guy she just spilled hot coffee on in the coffee shop is going to be someone who will change her life and force her to make decisions she never even considered. Law student and cancer patient Andrew wants to get through his chemo and get on with his life. WHen these two meet, it's not a cliche to say sparks fly and their lives are forever changed.
While reading this story I was struck by the ethical dilemma Lauren found herself in. While not a Physician, she is still a clinician and even though she only has Andrew as a patient very briefly, she thoughts that starting a relationship with him was somehow morally and professional wrong were profound and struck me as one of the most intense conflicts I've read recently in a romance story.
I hate spoiler so I won't tell you what happens, but suffice it to say I think this book is going ot be on a number of must read and bestseller lists this year,
Thank you to netgalley for a sneak peek.
5 exceptionally well deserved stars from me.
I recieved an ARC through NetGalley, and as usual all thoughts and opinions are my own.
February is the month of contemporary, and what a perfect time it was to read this one. I didn’t expect to love another cute romance story, but I did really liked our main characters and how the story unfolded, the characters are really well built and really interesting, and real, this is the most important part for me. When characters are able to react to something and it feel authentic and not forced.
There were parts where I laughed, parts where I couldn’t stand the cuteness and parts where it hurt me. But it’s a very well paced novel, which makes it a quick and easy read. The writing was good and filled with puns (which I’m not creative enough to use one to describe this book, but I tried). I read this book in three sittings (which may seem a lot, but it wasn’t). The main reason why it gets the 4 star is because I’d have liked to see the texts in a different format.
I would just like to give a warning to the subject of cancer.
Thank you to netgalley for this wonderful ARC. Lauren is an oncologist pharmacist who meets Andrew. I won’t say anything about the plot but this a deep love story that is a very sweet romance.
Perfect distraction proves that love will find you even when you aren't looking for it. The characters are fleshed out in a way that makes them seem real and the story is very relatable. Thank you Netgalley.
The story of Lauren and Andrew. They first meet in a coffee shop, where she decides he is just too good looking for her. The next time they meet is at the hospital where she works, and where she finds out that he is a patient there. Will she give him a chance?
I liked how the story is told from their different points of view, and hope itss a series so we get their friends stories next!
