Michele Campbell is a favorite author, and this book did not disappoint. You think you know, then you don’t. You are sure you’ve figured it out, then you start second-guessing yourself. Such a great suspense/thriller….one you can’t put down and don’t want to miss!
This was a fiery little novel about mysterious deaths, nefarious scheming to amass a fortune, and one innocent young woman caught in the middle. The story was for sure interesting, getting kicked off with a bombshell reveal followed by a story that would make a pretty good movie or episode of Law & Order. I really enjoyed the twists that the story took the reader on, but the characters were a huge miss for me. The main character, Tabitha, was whiny and annoying. Her husband, Conner, was a dick, and none of the other characters that entered into the story were necessarily likable.
I would also say that while the overall plot was engaging, twisty, and easy-to-follow, the ending just felt too predictable and rushed, and left me wanting more. This was an OK, just not great, thriller to me.
Okay this was utterly absurd. Tabby, Connor, Juliet... I could go on...Not one of them was a likeable character and it just felt like so much drama mushed together to make a "thriller".
This one was fun. I thought I knew exactly what was happening but didn’t expect the twist. Wish it would have ended a bit differently but 4⭐️ thank you netgalley for the ARC.
3.75⭐️ - this was an enjoyable ride but I was a little annoyed at Tabby's continued naiveté and the ending was anticlimactic.
Fun summer thriller but I was disappointed by the ending. Would have been a great read but the stereotypes at the end weren't something I enjoyed.
Michele Campbell's "The Wife Who Knew Too Much" sets sail with an intriguing premise: a young waitress inherits the life of a wealthy dead socialite. Unfortunately, the journey quickly runs aground on predictable plotlines, underdeveloped characters, and a lack of genuine suspense. The initial hook of a mysterious death is swiftly swallowed by an unexplained time jump, jolting the reader out of the crime's immediacy and dampening the tension. Tabitha, the protagonist, embodies every "small-town girl thrust into luxury" trope imaginable. Her lack of depth and questionable decision-making render her unconvincing as the investigator, leaving the reader disengaged. While the book falters in execution, glimpses of its potential shine through. The concept of a love triangle intertwined with wealth and secrets holds promise, and the opulent setting could have provided a more atmospheric backdrop. The Wife Who Knew Too Much might appeal to readers seeking a light, predictable read. However, those craving genuine suspense, well-developed characters, and a satisfying puzzle may be disappointed. Despite its promising premise, this novel ultimately fails to deliver the thrills and chills expected from a mystery thriller.
The Wife Who Knew Too Much by Michele Campbell
.
Told from the viewpoint of two different women who have had relationships with the same man, Tabby and Nina. But when Nina takes her life it leaves questions behind.
.
What I liked:
-Lots of secrets. Lots of shady characters. Dual POVs.
-One of the reveals was not what I was expecting, it surprised me.
-There was some good suspense in this story.

3.5⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 This could have been a four star book for me but I took a half star away because Tabby seemed a little too boneheaded and kept trusting the wrong people, she drove me pretty crazy.
The Wife Who Knew Too Much is a quick, fast paced, easy read with a very decent plot. Unfortunately, that's cancelled out by the not-so-great writing and dialogue. The conclusion was also disappointing and easy to anticipate.
And Tabitha...poor Tabby might be one of the dumbest characters I've had the misfortune to read about for awhile.
Glam. Glitz. Sex. Money. Murder. This does have all the elements of a great read. The suspense is good and I didn’t figure out until I was about 80% through so that’s great. I hate when I figure it out too early.
I didn’t give 5 stars for two reasons. One, I didn’t really like Tabitha. She was just too wishy washy for my liking. There were circumstances in which she should’ve been more aware. She was a bit too goo goo ga ga over her love interest.
Two, there’s a life circumstance that comes out at the end about someone’s history. I was not completely comfortable with how this was dealt with. It wasn’t necessary for the storyline. It could’ve easily been something less volatile with the same results.
I don’t want to give anything away so I won’t say too much. Hopefully you’ll know what I mean when you read it. I still highly recommend this book and this author!
Reviewed on Goodreads, Amazon
Tabitha fell in love with Connor when they were teenagers. Connor’s family was extremely wealthy and Tabitha was just “the help”. All these years later, Connor walks back into her life. Problem is, he is married to an older wealthy woman. And getting caught having an affair could cause him to lose everything he’s worked for.
The Wife Who Knew Too Much by Michele Campbell is a psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns. This book was fast paced and kept me fully engaged from beginning to end. And by that, I mean I finished it in 6 hours! 10/10 recommend!

Thank you NetGalley, St Martins Press, and Michele Campbell for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review!
I absolutely loved this book!! I couldn’t put it down.
I just loved all the characters. I highly recommend this book.
This book kept my interest right from the start— fast paced, kept me guessing, kept me wanting more. I wasn’t a fan of the ending, but don’t think it could have turned out any other way.. I will definitely look for more from this author.
Great thriller., well written and developed characters. Couldn’t put this one down! The ending was not predictable. Highly recommend!
As much as I love thrillers with twisty turns, complete with wives and long-lost loves., this one just didn't grab me. All the same, I will be open to trying another of Michele Campbell's books in the future.
T his book was an attention grabber from the beginning, with an interesting perspective. The title had me guessing, which wife?
Connor conveniently shows up at the restaurant where Tabitha works, and it is as if time has stood still. They find out they still have feelings for each other and spend the night together. Unfortunately, Connor is married to a very rich woman named Nina and he promises Tabitha he is going to leave her. Tabitha soon discovers she is pregnant and goes looking for Connor at the Ford's annual 4th of July party in a panic.
Nina dies that night and where it is ruled a suicide, it eventually becomes clear she was murdered, but by who? You follow around all the other characters who are employed by the Ford's and Tabitha soon finds herself accused of the murder. It's her job to prove her innocence, and at times, she is convinced Connor is involved.
Full of twists and turns that kept me guessing.
I seriously have whiplash from all the twists and turns in this book! I thought I had it figured out at least two times, and I was very wrong.
This kept me very entertained, and I wish I would have read it sooner!
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book. I picked this up because it was hyped as similar to Gone Girl and I enjoyed that one. I wouldn't say this was on the same level, but I did enjoy this one. The pacing was good, but I just wished the dialogue and character development was a bit stronger. All in all, this was an okay read for me, nice and quick which I appreciated!
Wow i cannot believe it took me this long to read this book! What a wild ride!! Fast and easy read Love it and would recommend to any thriller lover
The first Mrs. Ford is one of the richest women around and after her July 4th party, she ended up ☠️ She was married to a hot younger man, and of course the suspicion is on him. The second Mrs. Ford has known the hot, younger man since high school and now she is wealthy beyond belief. A fast paced novel that was a lot of fun.
