The Wife Who Knew Too Much by Michele Campbell is a new thriller. Tabitha meets Connor Ford again after losing contact with him for many years. Still infatuated with him, they start an affair even though Connor is married to rich and influential Nina. Connor claims he married Nina for money and he does not love her. After a July 4th party, Nina ends up dead--a suicide, the news claims.
After Nina's death, Connor marries Tabitha. However, Tabitha finds Nina's diary where she wrote Tabby and Connor are involved in her death. Tabby is left wondering if Connor really killed Nina, but what she knows might put her life in danger.
I thought this book was a great read. It was fast-paced and had me interested from the beginning. I liked the switch between narratives, so we also heard Nina's side of the story before her death. With this typical genre though, the plot lines tend to get dull and repetitive.

Review: I flew through this book in a day. This book had lavish opulence, a scandalous love affair, distrustful employees, and people you'll love to hate. You do need to suspend reality a bit but it's so fast paced you almost won't care for some of the crazy. I didn't love Tabitha's character, well any of them really, but found her to be on the overly whiny side who needed constant reassurance. But it was interesting to see how she reacted in new situations and how naive she was going into just about everything. She was hard working and struggled to catch a break - and always reminded the reader of this.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press, Macmillan Audio, and Michele Campbell for my advanced copy.
I couldn’t get into the book because it was interesting the first half but it started getting hard to into but it was very good
Money Doesn’t Bring Happiness
Tabitha is poor, working as a waitress. As a teenager she was in love with Connor Ford, a wealthy young man. He loved her but his grandmother put a stop to the romance advising him not to marry the help. Now she’s grownup, but when Connor walks into the grill where she works, the old magic is back, but Connor is now married to a much older, wealthy woman he doesn’t love.
Tabitha and Connor resume their romance, and he plans to divorce Nina, his wife. Then Nina apparently takes her own life. Connor and Tabitha quickly marry and the nightmare begins. Nina left a note before she died suggesting that her death would be foul play. Was Connor involved? Tabitha doesn’t know who to trust and her wonderful new life begins to feel like a trap.
This is a fast paced thriller with plenty of glitter. If you enjoy watching the rich this is a fun book. I thought the descriptions of Tabitha’s new life were well done. It was a nice contract to hew growing sense of anxiety.
The characters fit the story, but I can’t say they appealed to me. Tabitha seemed incredibly naive. Connor was harder to figure out, probably by design, since there was a question of whether he was guilty. The ending had a significant twist which resolved the stories’ issues. All the clues were there but the twist was still unexpected.

I received an ARC of Michele Campbell's The Wife Who Knew Too Much and I LOVED It!
Michele Campbell has quickly become one of my most favorite authors for consistently delivering on the promise of a suspenseful read. There's nothing I love more than thinking I have the mystery solved midway through the book, only to be taken down various rabbit holes that make me doubt my own point of view and problem-solving.
The Wife Who Knew Too Much was no exception. I enjoyed the dual narration - sharing the perspective of both of Connor's wives - as it was a constant, personal battle because I ended up rooting for both of them at certain points. In part, my attachment must be due to the great character development that Campbell crafts in her books - making even the perceived antagonist appealing at times.
This was such a welcome distraction from the events going on in the world and would be a great, quick read for someone looking for an escape.

This was a fast easy read. The beginning was interesting when Nina wrote that if she died, it was due to her husband. However, I found that it was more of a romance book than a mystery and by the middle of the book, I really did't care who did it. I guessed the ending about 40% into the book - and that was disappointing.
Tabitha was awfully immature and in my opinion, too needy to ever have a relationship with Connor. I couldn't believe that she had been married to a manipulative drug dealer, and again allowed herself to be manipulated by another terribly flawed man. I thought that their "chance" meeting and hot romance the same night was contrived and really not credible. When the pictures showed up - and Connor was surprised, I could see through the device immediately. I can't believe that any 30 yr old woman would even imagine that a summer romance could ever develop into a lasting relationship, especially between 2 radically different people.
Connor and Nina were well matched manipulators, but again, a highly improbable couple. Despite the fact that she was 20 yrs older than him, I couldn't see anything that the 2 had in common, other than liking the finer things in life. Nina really played the lead in their marriage, and Connor played along. (the operative word being "played").
I'm sorry but this book was just a struggle to get through . As I said, I figured out what was going on about 40% into the book. Most of the middle was bogged down with untrustworthy, unlikable characters, and by the end, I really didn't care what happened to any of them. It was not a creative mystery but a cliche romance novel with a murder thrown in.
Thank you NetGalley and St martin's Press for an eARC to read in return for an honest review of the book.
I've read a couple of other books by Michele Campbell so knew what to expect going in to this book - in short, expect the unexpected. Is the narrator reliable? Are things what they seem? Don't want to say too much here, because I don't want to give anything away. But bottom line, this was a good read that kept me guessing, every time I thought maybe I knew what was going on, something would make me question my theory. The characters weren't the most likeable, so folks who need to like the characters they read about may not find this to be their cup of tea. Fortunately that's not a requirement for me so I found it enjoyable - I listened to most of it (and read some with my eyes) and can recommend either version.

A thrilling read with twists and turns that you won't see coming.
An impressionable young woman working as a waitress, meets a gorgeous young man and they instantly connect.
He goes his way,due to family pressure, after they don't approve of the match.
Yrs.later they meet again and the connection is just as strong, but the only problem,is he's married to a very wealthy woman and although he might want to be with her,the prenuptial agreement is a killer.
She finds out later, that she is pregnant and desperately tries to reach him by phone. He ignores her,so she starts on a road trip to find him.
She arrives at this enormous Mansion, during a gigantic 4th of July Celebration and sees him with his wife.
This is where it all goes South.
You won't regret this read,as it's well worth your time.
Thanks to the author "Michele Campbell" for a sensational read and to Net Galley for the opportunity to read and review.
This is the sort of twisty thriller that puts your mind out of the world events and transports you to the vacation worlds of The Hamptons. I hate to think of this as a summer read, because it can be read whenever, but this is the perfect summer book reading outside on the beach, pool or kiddie pool escaping the heat! What Campbell does that is fantastic is she brings you to the place and allows you to see the people. This novel was visual! Be prepared though for secrets, lies, ambition and a rollercoaster ride that will leave you breathless!

I love a good mystery so when I read the synopsis of this one, I couldn’t wait to read it.
Fast paced book, well written characters, and a good plot. It was entertaining and I would highly recommend for a beach read.
3.5 stars.
This book will be a hit among those readers who love domestic psychological thrillers, as it hits all the marks that make a reader not want to put it down until the last word on the last page. From the very beginning we love the couple Connor and Tabitha.and know they are destined to be together. But like every love story of rich boy family/poor girl family, that doesn't always happen. Fast foward and the couple meet up again. Coincidental or planned? Young Connor has married a very rich older woman, Nina, and Tabitha has an ex-husband, Derek, who has been in prison. Recipe for disaster? As the couple attempt to find their way back to each other, Connor knows that he will lose everything because of a pre-nup he has signed , and he wants to find a way around that. After all he has become very accustomed to the rich and famous lifestyle. After a dramatic 4th of July party it all comes to a head as Nina is found dead. And now the characters of the story begin to fall into place as the mystery of who-dun-it puts doubts into the mind of Tabitha. Enough twists and turns in this story to make the reader be sure its one person and then change their mind within a page or two....with a few surprises thrown in for good measure!! Definitely recommend this book! I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and St. Martin's Press in return for an honest review, which this has been. #NetGalley #TheWifeWhoKnewTooMuch
A great mystery that held my interest from start to finish. Very twisty. Enjoyed it. Thank you publisher and netgalley for this arc in exchange of an honest review.
The Wife Who Knew Too Much opens with a Dear Diary post that says if I die suddenly, it was my husband who killed me . . . my husband and her. The diary entry belongs to a wealthy socialite, Nina Levitt, who is married to a much younger man, Connor. In an earlier life, young Tabitha Girald fell in love with Connor Ford expecting a fairy tale ending. Unfortunately, Connor was looking to move up the social ladder and did so by marrying Nina. Years later, Tabitha and Connor reconnect in a seemingly accidental meeting in a bar where she's working and rekindle the flame extinguished so long ago. Connor begs Tabitha for time to settle things with his wife promising her they'll finally have their own happy-ever-after. Sounds like a good second-chance romance, right? Right.
The Wife Who Knew Too Much unfolds through dual points of view - that of naive, gullible Tabitha and Nina, the wealthy wife putting out wicked witch of the west vibes. At times, it's hard to know who to trust as the twists and turns mount up. Taut writing feeds the tension vibrating throughout as it becomes obvious a trap is being set, but the question is for who? Who's pulling the strings? Who's playing who? A fast pace, twisted plot line, and shades of the ultimate betrayal make this an intriguing read as suspects pile up. I figured out what was going on fairly early in the story, but still couldn't put the book down. I had to know if I was right. I will say the characters are not very likable and there comes a point where I began to think they all deserved whatever fate handed them. But that's the very thing I believe makes this story work. Lies, betrayals, murder - it all adds up to an intriguing "whodunnit" that I recommend to fans of mystery, suspense, and thrillers.
Thanks to netgalley, St. Martins publishing and Michelle Campbell for this arc. This is the story of which do you go for love or money? All thru the story I kept going back-and-forth whether Connor was actually a good guy or a bad guy. I ended up thinking he was a bad guy. Boy was I wrong. This author stumped me. Four stars.
Tabitha and Conner had a teenage summer fling, that meant everything to Tabitha, who still loves him even at 30. When he walks into her life again, the chemistry is still there. There's just one little problem, Conner is married, to a woman who is convinced her husband is going to kill her. When his wife's suicide is ruled a homicide, their world is turned upside down.
This book had a strong start, with a diary entry from the dead wife saying her husband killed her. Of course you want to know what happen, was she really murdered? Or just paranoid? I thought this book was exciting and despite disliking Tabitha...and Conner...and the wife...I still wanted to know the outcome.
Thank you to @netgalley for a copy of this book for a review.
I’ll admit to a mild curiosity as to who was responsible but every single character was just so stupid, so unrealistic, so much a slave to their base instincts that the ending could’ve been them all getting blown up and it fade to black and I would’ve been far more thrilled with that than what we actually got.
Tabitha is hands down the dumbest character I’ve ever read and Nina follows closely behind. There was no character development, no realistic dialogue or behavior, and no originality in the plot, not to mention, the annoying amount of dickmatizing going on was nauseating. The world doesn’t need yet another book with these harmful stereotypes and overused tropes.
The Wife Who Knew Too Much was a fun, fast-paced thriller that would be perfect as a beach read. I wasn’t a huge fan of the romance between Tabitha and Connor, which made it hard for me to connect with the characters. But this one is definitely full of intrigue, secrets, and glamour!
