I could not put this book down...but not necessarily because it was so great. This is a book full of bad choices and deceptive actions. It compares with other suspense novels like Gone Girl and Safe Haven -- people caught up in deception that everyone knows will lead to disaster. Tabitha is barely making it as a waitress in her hometown. Her first marriage is over, thanks to a drug dealing husband that lead to Tabitha's police record. When her high school boyfriend (now wealthy and just as appealing) shows up and shows interest, Tabitha falls into his arms with hopes for a happy future. Of course, readers have already been clued in that something is going to go terribly wrong.

No, I couldn't stop reading -- it was like watching a train wreck. I spent much of the time shaking my head at the stupid decisions many of the characters make and at the clear deceptions that are going on. I had figured out the mystery pretty early on, but admittedly there were a few twists that left me mildly surprised. Is it worth the read? Yes, but I just wasn't overly invested in the outcome. The ending left me rolling my eyes.(See the SPOILER below if you want to know why) I was just hoping for more.

SPOILER -- I won't give away the actual killer, but I was disappointed in the overly happy and almost sappy ending. Tabitha survives (no real surprise since she is telling the story), others are dead, she gets the money but gives it to charity because she doesn't feel she deserves it nor does she want it. So she goes back home with her daughter, buys the restaurant, and lives happily ever after. I would have preferred something a bit more ambiguous or at least a little let "tied up with a bow" perfect. Oh, well.

This could've been way better. I felt the pacing was off and Connor's character was even less than two dimensional. The book felt rushed, the characters were flat. It just wasn’t my cup of tea.

I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.

The Wife Who Knew Too Much features Tabitha, a girl who isn't coming from money, making do by working in a restaurant, who reconnects with her high school summer fling. He comes into her restaurant one night and the pair reconnect. Conner, Tabitha's ex, is now married to Nina, who is a multi-millionaire. This doesn't stop Tabitha from getting involved with her old flame. However, this opens up a realm of issues.

First, Nina ends up dead. Clearly, it is under suspicious circumstances given that Conner cannot divorce Nina and still have any of the money. There are a lot of twists and turns (and plenty that are left unanswered), but it was a bit predictable. Tabitha is very naive and gullible. She doesn't seem to see what is right in front of her face when it comes to trusting people. Also, her relationship with Conner seemed... odd. They reconnected quickly and Conner had a lot of lip service about how much he loves her but his actions didn't quite seem to show it.

The book wraps up the main points, but there were side storylines that are just left for you to create your own resolution to.

I ended up dnfing this at 30%, I lost interest in this book while I was reading it. I wasn’t enjoying it and it wasn’t very memorable.

The Wife Who Knew Too Much is the second book I’ve read of Michele Campbell’s and i found it to be quite enjoyable. I was hooked in quite early and finished this in under 24 hours. There were a bunch of twists and turns that I didn’t find particularly predictable (hard to do these days) and I liked that the ending wasn’t too feel good or wrapped up. 4 stars.

Buddy read this one with Kate!

Thank you to author, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

After a marriage early in their relationship, Tabitha begins to suspect that her husband Connor might not actually be innocent in the death of his previous. What was ruled as a suicide might have been murder.

Michele Campbell’s novels have been hit or miss for me, but this one was a hit. The characters were well developed and the plot line kept me on my toes.

Wow, this one started off with a bang, and then devolved from there. I did not like Tabitha from the beginning, so that really detracted from my reading experience. I felt like I wanted more depth and details. I know it’s backlist and loved, though, so I’m moving on.

This is a good quick read. Something you can read over the weekend. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary from other books in this genre, but pick it up, you'll like it.

Pick your storyline. Rich older woman has hot young husband or teenage lovers reunite hot and heavy. I wanted to enjoy this more than I did, but it was really just a read and get it over with. It seemed pretty straightforward and I normally enjoy the author's books more.

I read this book in one sitting which means I loved it.
This book really makes you question if you were a widow with a huge amount of money you would be super careful of any man befriending me.
I did guess the killer from the beginning but this didn't take away my enjoyment.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in return for an honest review.

3.5 stars. This was a decent fast-paced thriller. The writing was kind of jumpy at times, like it just jumped from one thing to another in very short time. I feel like suspicion was put on WAY too many people throughout the book...I mean, I get it’s supposed to be suspenseful, but it was just a bit much. And, the relationship between Tabitha and Conner was just kind of weird and rushed. Overall it was decent, but not very plausible.

It was a typical popcorn thriller. I enjoyed reading it but it wasn't memorable. Thank you for the chance to read.

I got so much more from this book than I thought when I originally went into it. Michele Campbell is a fantastic writer! The way she weaved this story deeper and deeper and more interesting with every turn of the page, wow, just wow! The mystery surrounding the death of Nina, is so deep and twisted, that this book will keep you turning the pages until you finish. I finished this in one sitting, there was absolutely no way I was going back to adulting once I settled into this story. It grabbed me from page one and I was hooked. Conner, well you know there is just something wrong with him and all his stories, but he's one of those characters that you just cannot put your finger on what irks you.
Then of course this is that setting of the mansion in the Hamptons and the almost gothic feel of the story Rebecca that comes into play between Tabitha and Nina's assistant.
I dont want to spoil anything but I will say pick this up now!! Just be warned, once you start you cannot stop!

Similar to other new thrillers I've read, it was just ok. It was a quick read that held my attention, but I could have done without it.

Fast, quickly paced, and easy to read thriller. It kept me up late at night and on the edge of my seat! Perfect beach read.

The Wife Who Knew Too Much is a slow-burn, whodunit mystery. I had such high hopes for this book. Surprisingly, not too many crime novels begin with a letter stating my husband should be the prime suspect if I'm found dead, I was intrigued from the beginning because of this, but the plot moves so slowly, with the story only picking up around the 75% mark, it was difficult to stay invested in the characters and their motivations. If you're looking for a fast-paced, unputdownable thriller, this isn't the book for you. If you're looking for a descriptive, character-driven mystery, give this one a try.

Michelle Campbell rocks the book world. The Wife Who Knew Too Much was highly anticipated and lived up to the hype. Highly recommend.
