I have read and reviewed Michele’s other books on this blog and they have ranged between 3 and 4 crowns. This latest book falls right into the same category for me. While it was not the best thriller that I’ve ever read, it wasn’t the worst either. It was a decent read with some small twists but the story itself wasn’t captivating.

I found Conner to be annoying and Tabitha to be a bit pathetic. I really wanted to love this book but I just didn’t.

This is my 2nd novel by Michele Campbell. While I loved the first, I enjoyed this one even more! This was one of my favorite books I have read this summer. Chapter 1 starts on the 4th of July - so it was the perfect summer read for me! I normally am pretty good at figuring out twists and turns - but this one had me guessing on who was telling the truth until the very end!

I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a great summer thriller!

3.5 stars!
Tabitha and Connor have a summer fling when they are teenagers. Tabitha works at the country club that Connor’s wealthy family attends. When things don’t work out, Tabitha is stunned years later when Connor appears at the restaurant she works at. After serving him, they rekindle their romance even though he is married. Connor has wed Nina Levitt, a multimillionaire who is twenty years his senior. Nina mysteriously dies after Connor and Tabby start the affair and Tabitha is suddenly thrown into Connor’s world of private jets and mansions. When things start to not add up about Nina’s death, Tabby starts to really question if she knows Connor after all.

My biggest problem with this book was Tabitha. I always try to be a realist while reading and I just can’t figure out how she didn’t see the red flags with Connor. I wanted to shake her at times. Connor is a total jerk once they meet again as adults and I just can’t even understand why she was so attracted to him. That being said, I liked how Campbell wrote about their fling as teenagers. It sucked me in and I found myself rooting for them. There were a couple of twists but I found one of them to be predictable as well as the ending. I did find this thriller to be entertaining but I just want to shake Tabitha (in case you can’t tell she irritated me haha).

3⭐️⭐️⭐️. This wasn’t one of my favorites. It starts off really good but before the halfway mark I started to become quite bored. Connor started getting on my nerves and I just really didn’t care for any of the characters. I do like the author’s writing style so I was able to fly through it even though I wasn’t very intrigued with the storyline. The last couple chapters were better and even though some of it was predictable, I was satisfied with how it ended...it was just getting to the ending that bored me a bit.

I give The Wife Who Knew Too Much 2.5 stars. I have to say that the first 20% of the book had me hooked. I enjoyed the storyline of Tabby meeting Conner during their youth and how they fell in love. Young Conner was written very well, and he and young Tabby had great chemistry. Fast forward almost 20 years. Something happened, however when Nina came into the storyline. I got completely bored with the plot, storyline and the writing in general was somewhat lame. I actually skimmed the last 40% of this book. I just could not wait to be done. The cover of this book intrigued me and so did the title, but oh by, what a HUGE disappointment. And I am very sorry to say, one of the worst books I've read all year.

Thank you NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and Michele Campbell, for this free digital ARC, in exchange for my honest review!

I love a good opening hook in a thriller and this begins with a diary entry from Nina who says she knows her husband is planning on killing her so if she winds up dead he did it. She also mentions he did it with “her” and not alone so basically I was like, SOLD after one chapter. Then the next chapter confirms Nina died and that’s where I’ll stop talking about plot specifics but I mean, could this be any juicier?! Hello summer, beachy thriller!
While this opened really strong for me there it wasn’t perfect, there were times it felt a little silly and over the top but I always allow that in a beach type thriller. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Some of it felt a little drawn out at times as you hear backstory on Connor and Tabitha and less could’ve been more in this case. It kinda felt romance novelish and just wasn’t entirely necessary but it was fine. It was decently pacey though and I wasn’t ever bored. It did feel a little messy in the end and I did see what was gonna happen before it actually did, but as much as this review sounds like me complaining I did enjoy it overall! You just kinda have to roll with it and take it for what’s it worth, don’t over analyze or try and see if it seems probable, just have fun with it and you may like it too.

The premise of this thriller is intriguing and quickly builds suspense as Tabitha unexpectedly reconnects with her high school boyfriend, Conner. Conner, married to the extremely wealthy and well-renowned Nina Levitt, is incredibly unhappy in his marriage, and promises Tabitha he will leave his wife for her. The tropes this book sticks to are overdone in the thriller genre, and the dialogue is incredibly overdramatic. To me, it feels like it was written like an unintentional soap opera, and this style completely turned me off the book by halfway through.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for a review. A gripper from the first page that sucks you into the story!! full of twists and turns to keep it interesting and keep you reading until the last page. I didn't read A stranger on the beach but after this one, it's definitely on my list as are more books by this author!! I recommend.

Honestly, this book was very bad. I struggled to even get through it. The writing was terrible, the characters were badly written, and so, so stupid, and the villains may as well have had flashing neon signs over their heads every time they stepped onto the page. I'm not going to review it on my blog, either, though, since I don't really have much else to say about it, so my opinion will remain here.

"Nina Leavitt is very rich. She's worried that her new husband, David, is after her money and her company. She writes in a diary to look at him if something happens to her. Then she is found dead, floating in her pool, after a big party. Looks like suicide but did her newest husband have anything to do with her death? David has rediscovered an old flame from a long ago summer - Tabitha - and has rekindled the relationship. She was there that night to give David some news. Was she responsible? What happens to the big house and the millions? Who is this mystery sister?"

The Wife Who Knew Too Much by Michele Campbell starts with Nina's declaration that her husband is planning something and her death by drowning. The timeline goes back and forth from the setup to the present. This is common in thrillers but it works here. We see David and Tabitha together one summer. We see how Nina ended up as Mrs. Leavitt. And we see what a lifetime of anger will do to someone. Campbell gives us clues and red herrings about the persons responsible for Nina's death. You may be able to guess if you pay close attention. I liked the twist in this one. And the ending. I appreciate when an author doesn't try to tie everything up with a pretty bow. If you can go to the beach this year, this would make a great beach read. This was my first book by Michele Campbell and I look forward to reading more.

Tabitha has been in love with Connor forever but he was the rich boy and she was a waitress and well, he was the one who went away. She had some ups but now she's down again and working as a waitress and guess who turns up- Connor! These two are grownup now and their attraction is more serious. One problem- Connor is married to Nina and he's got golden handcuffs. She's older, richer, he works for her company, and there's a prenup. BUT, then she commits suicide, allowing Tabby and Connor to marry, quickly. Perhaps too quickly because there's a diary in which Nina predicts she will be murdered. HAH! Of course suspicion will fall on the new wife but what is Connor hiding? This one is twisted and twisty. You, like me, might think you know the answers but you like me might be wrong. Thanks to the publisher for the ARC. This is a fast and entertaining read.

I read this in two sittings and about 3 hours. I truly couldn’t put it down (okay, well – I did to sleep). Within the first few pages of the book, you find out that the very wealthy and powerful wife, Nina, suspects that she will die and that if she does then to look to her husband, Connor – and her. From there we are transported back ten years to Connor and Tabitha’s young summer love. At first I thought, “Ahh great, I’m going to hate Tabitha” and assumed all of the worst things. I was pleasantly surprised to be mostly wrong and about her and ended up rooting hard for it. After they meet up again, their romance is rekindled and Connor tries to find a way out of his iron clad prenup so that they could be together again. What happens throughout the rest of the story is the aftermath of that. There are so many twists in this one that I couldn’t see coming – including the big one at the end that reveals that “her” isn’t who we think she is. Campbell writes a story that tests trust in relationships and shows that you can truly only trust yourself. This was my first novel by her and I can’t wait to go and read her older ones now!

I absolutely loved Michele Campbell's A Stranger on the Beach so when I got the opportunity to read her newest book set to release on July 28th, I gladly accepted. Thank you @netgalley and @stmartinspress for the e- ARC.

The first chapter sucked me in and I was excited to see what happens next. I'll say I stayed interested in the story throughout the whole book but I kept waiting for something more, a huge twist or something shocking, which is what I personally love in thrillers. The ending was definitely interesting but a bit messy. There were twists but none of them were really shocking in my opinion.

Now I know it sounds like I didn't like this book but I honestly did, it just isn't one of my favorites. I liked the short chapters, loved that I doubted everyone and that kept me guessing, and I stayed intrigued throughout the book and never got bored.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an ARC of this book! Release date - July 28, 2020

I'm actually a fan of Michele Campbell, but I feel like her books will always be average. I will read them and enjoy them, but there's never anything mind-blowing or exciting about them. This one was pretty mundane throughout most of the book, rich people, parties, business deals, dinners. The murder falls into the background of everyday life. It was the fabulous life of the insanely wealthy, but it was still just everyday life. I was interested in the characters and what happened to Nina, and I actually thought it was pretty clever the way it all played out. But it wasn't incredibly surprising, I guessed the murderer long before it was revealed, I just didn't know all the details and motive. There were a few things about the ending that were kind of silly and didn't fit with the rest of the characterization in the book.

This is definitely not Michele Campbell's best book and although I keep having high hopes for her, I don't think she's ever going to write a book that I love. That being said, I still enjoy her books and will continue to read them.

Twists and turns. Who is in it for love and who is in it for money?

This book starts out with a woman Nina's frantic scribblings that she thinks her husband is trying to kill her and that if she winds up dead that he should be investigated.

The story then moves to Tabitha. As a teen, she worked at the local country club. There she meets handsome, charming, rich Connor Ford. The two quickly develop a relationship and Tabitha is in love. Connor's family disapproves of Tabitha so the relationship ends .

Fast forward a number of years, Tabitha is now a waitress at a local place in the same small NH town when Connor shows up. Only now, Connor is married to famous, wealthy, socialite, Nina. Despite this, Tabitha and Connor rekindle their romance. Tabitha dreams of a future together but Connor says he signed an iron clad pre-nup when he married Nina.

From here it is a very twisty ride. Who can Tabitha trust? When Nina turns up dead, it is initially declared a suicide. But, was it really? Was Connor involved? So many questions!!

This one was a fun read that I got through pretty quickly. Tabitha was a bit too naive, but that is just who she was as a person. AND it gave me as a reader someone to say "No, don't trust them!" to. This was a great read for the summer spanning a NH mountain resort town to the mansions of The Hamptons in NY.

This story opens with Nina’s diary entry fearing for her life, she is convinced her husband and another woman want her dead!

This book checked off so many of my guilty pleasures: suspicious death, a cheating husband, a second chance at love...a second mistress..Wait..what?! But so much of what I thought I knew was wrong. Michele Campbell certainly kept me second guessing the characters and their motives right till the end.

I recieved a digital copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

A young woman thinks she’s getting a second chance at love when “the one who got away” comes back. She’s swept into a marriage that lands her in the lap of luxury but also in the middle of a murder investigation. Now she doesn’t know whether to trust the man in her life or her instincts. Author Michele Campbell writes less thriller and more an exercise in a woman’s paranoia in her newest book The Wife Who Knew Too Much.

Tabitha Girard is stuck in a dead-end job. True, the people she works with are great, and she appreciates the paycheck. But she didn’t imagine herself as a waitress with no prospects to become anything else. Until Connor Ford walks back into her life.

It seems like a lifetime ago when she and Connor had their summer fling. Back then, Tabitha worked at the country club and Connor attended with his ultra rich family. Despite all odds, and the wagging tongues of the local gossips, Tabitha and Connor started going out together. In a typical rich-boy/poor-girl romance, though, their families discovered the relationship and put a stop to it.

Even after the passage of more than a dozen years, Tabitha goes weak in the knees when Connor walks into her restaurant. He’s just as surprised to see her but also relieved. Everyone knows Connor married New York socialite Nina Levitt, the widow of the head of Levitt Global, an international powerhouse. Connor reveals to Tabitha that he’s miserable with Nina, and he hasn’t stopped thinking about their sweet summer romance.

Tabitha thinks this is their second chance at love. Connor reassures her he’s going divorce Nina. He just has to find a way to do it so the prenup he signed isn’t triggered. If he’s not careful he could end up without a dime, and he’s definitely in the marriage for the money.

Then Nina dies. Suicide, the tabloids say, but Tabitha can’t be bothered with the details. She’s going to be the new Mrs. Ford and have a fabulous life, and that’s all that matters. Except the police keeping poking around, and Tabitha starts to get the sneaking suspicion that maybe Nina’s death wasn’t suicide at all. Maybe there’s something more sinister at work here. She just has to figure out if she’s in danger next.

Author Michele Campbell starts the novel with an ominous diary entry from Nina Levitt. In it, Nina states that if she’s dead then the person reading should assume she’s been murdered. The mystery, though, quickly devolves into a romance for part of the book. Tabitha pines for Connor, and she jumps at the opportunity to be with him again. She doesn’t question any of his suspicious behavior. At some point, readers might wonder why she doesn’t see that her life is slowly starting to turn into a Dateline special.

Marketing materials might lead readers to believe this book is as much about Nina as anyone else, but Nina’s story gets second billing to Tabitha’s growing insecurity. After she marries Connor, she steps into life as Mrs. Ford with unease. Her sixth sense, though, seems to be speaking more to readers than to her. Tabitha becomes jumpy and questions various elements of life with Connor, yet she doesn’t question Connor himself.

The title, too, is misleading. Tabitha seems like the wife who didn’t know enough. She’s always one step behind her shady husband. If Nina is supposed to be the titular wife, she’s dead for most of the book and can’t really do much about Tabitha’s fate.

More than anything, readers will have a clear picture of Tabitha’s handwringing. Before she and Connor get together, she frets constantly about when they’ll reunite. After they get together, she keeps looking over her shoulder for some unseen threat.

That threat, though, never materializes with clarity. Connor loves money, yes, but that seems to be his one defining personality trait. Campbell may have intended for Connor’s “shades of gray” to keep readers guessing about whether he killed Nina or not. Instead, the approach comes off as wishy-washy. As a character, he’s somewhat disappointing.

Those looking for a fast read might like this one. Otherwise, I give The Wife Who Knew Too Much 3 stars.

Many thanks to NetGalley, St Martin's Press, and Michele Campbell for the opportunity to read and review her latest thriller - 4 stars for a great read!

The book opens with a diary entry from Nina, a very wealthy woman getting ready to host her annual July 4th party. Afterwards, she intends on telling her husband, Connor, that she wants a divorce. She also is making it known that if something happens to her, Connor is the one who did it. From there, we learn all the back stories of Connor, his ex-girlfriend, Tabitha, and how all these lives eventually intersect. When Nina is found dead, Connor and Tabitha quickly reignite their old flame. But old secrets never stay hidden and before long, no one is trustworthy. What happened to Nina? Is someone framing Tabitha?

Besides a peek into the world of the ultra-wealthy, this is a great cat and mouse thriller. No one is completely trustworthy and everyone has their own agendas, plus there are lots of twists that you won't see coming. Michele Campbell's writing will keep you at the edge of your seat waiting to see how everything will play out. You won't be disappointed!
