4 stars. A reunion of two lovers following the unexpected death of one of their spouses. A true whodunit, with twists and turns. The book held my interest but there were several times that I knew my suspicious were too obvious to be correct. However, the ending was a bit.... much? Too good to be true? Overall, this is a great summer read, and I would recommend it to friends/family. Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
If I am sticking to the genre category assigned to this book by Goodreads this ends up being a three star read for me. I’m not completely sold on the idea that this is a thriller. However I could see it being a four star read as a dark contemporary. It was pretty clear early on what how the story was going to unravel. I enjoyed the story and pacing in the first part of the book but around halfway the plot got awkward and it really slowed things down for me.
Once the story became more focused on Connor’s character I found my attention began to wander. How a man as dimwitted and one dimensional as he is got so many women to fall for him is beyond me. He was just a giant tool. Tabitha is no better though. The only thing she was good at was playing the victim. I was really hoping that things wouldn’t work out for her in the end. I hate cheaters and she definitely didn't deserve any good to come out of stealing someone else’s husband.
Overall this book fell a little flat for me. The interesting plot idea couldn’t overcome the messy dialogue and unlikable characters. I seem to be in the minority though so I would still recommend checking this book out
I really enjoyed Michele Campbell’s last book, A Stranger on the Beach, so I was pretty excited to get my hands on The Wife Who Knew Too Much. While the story didn’t go quite the way I had expected, it still had that addictive writing that kept me completely hooked.
In the beginning, we get both Nina and Tabitha’s POV. I liked the flashbacks to how both of their relationships started with Connor and then to the events leading up to Nina’s death. I kind of wished Nina didn’t die so soon because I wanted to spend more time with her. I liked that both women seemed sympathetic, but also a little untrustworthy. It kept me on my toes and I liked that.
The story didn’t quite unfold in the way I thought it would. The synopsis mentions Tabitha finding Nina’s diary warning of her untimely death, but that doesn’t actually happen to about the 80% mark. The book was a lot less gothic, claustrophobic drama than I expected. There was perhaps a little too much time spent of Tabitha just doing whatever Connor told her and not being nearly as suspicious as she should be. I also came up with my theory pretty early on in the story, which ended up being correct. Thankfully, the writing was still really addictive and compelling and I couldn’t stop reading it.
Overall, I enjoyed The Wife Who Knew Too Much. I really enjoyed the writing and the multiple POVs and timelines. The ending went in a slightly different direction than I was expecting, which disappointed me, but I don’t think most readers will be upset by it. If you’ve enjoyed Campbell’s other books, I definitely recommend this one. I look forward to whatever she writes next.
Overall Rating (out of 5): 3.5 Stars
I will leave a review on Amazon or B&N on July 28, 2020
The Wife Who Knew Too Much was such a great read, I was totally off the mark about whom I thought was the guilty party in the book. This was a action packed read that keeps you turning the page to see what is going to happen next. I would definitely recommend this book to others.
I received a ARC from NetGalley and St. Martin's Press and was under no obligation to give a good review, all opinions expressed here are my own.
I loved the thrill of this book. . It was so exciting and an easy read. I didn’t want to put it down.
I’ve been trying out new (to me) authors lately, with my latest being Michele Campbell. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for giving me the opportunity with this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Tabitha is leading a normal life, waitressing at a local restaurant when her rich and married ex-boyfriend, Connor, shows up claiming his love for her and promising to leave his wife, Nina. When Tabitha learns Nina has taken her own life, she is thrown into a high society world wondering who she can trust, including Connor.
Full of twists and turns, this binge worthy read is a hard one to put down. Although the first half is a slower build, it is necessary to set up the intensity of the second half. I’m now ready to grab the rest of Michele’s books and add her to my auto buy list. I also urge y’all to hop on this one when it hits the shelves next week on 7/28!
All that glitters is not gold!
Tabitha Girard’s real nightmare begins when she reunites with Conner Ford who was her love and everything eons ago, and who also broke her heart then.
Connor Ford comes back more mature, wealthier, but not that happier… and is married to the famed and affluent Nina Levitt.
How is this love triangle going to work out?
One has to dive into this dark odyssey of love, betrayal, revenge and lies of THE WIFE WHO KNEW TOO MUCH in order to find out..
The gifted Michele Campbell grasps you tightly from the beginning with the eerie context of Nina’s Diary in this summer suspenseful thriller!
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this great summer read!

(3.5/5) This was a good story that kept my interest till the end though at times I just didn't like the writing and dialogue. And I just couldn't get Tabitha at all. She actually frustrated me. Why she wanted to stay with Connor after all that happened between them and the way he treated her, before and after, was beyond me. Most of the characters were unlikable but it did make for an interesting story. Good twist towards the end that I didn't expect at all.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the review copy.
I received an advanced copy of this from Netgalley for my honest review. Again, Campbell did not disappoint with this thriller! It had me questioning all the characters and guessing until the very end. This is one you will not want to put down!
Hard working Tabitha probably wishes Connor Ford hadn’t walked back into her life years after they had a fling if it were not for a keepsake of sorts she has from him. Connor was a country club kid when Tabitha worked as a pool girl at the club. The two developed a romantic relationship that was not supported by either grandmothers, who were their primary caregivers.
Years later Connor has married an older rich woman, Nina, for her money and is living in the lap of luxury. While married, Connor returns to New Hampshire to see Tabitha and they have a weekend of passion. Connor needs to keep this relationship clandestine as his prenup with Nina says that he gets nothing if Nina finds him cheating.
Back in Southampton at ‘Windswept’ the beachside mansion where Connor and Nina live alongside an assistant Juliet, the housekeeper Gloria and the driver Dennis, a party for Memorial Day is occurring and all is festive and beautiful. Despite some minor security breaches the party is considered a success.
The next morning however the grand dame herself, Nina, is found dead in the pool in what appears to be a suicide. Connor is entitled to the fortune as the husband but others will always cast aspersions if they feel they have been left out.
In a book where the person pleasant to your face could also be talking behind your back, cheating is rampant and money is top of mind, The Wife Who Knew Too Much is a fun read with some twists that complicate any simple conclusions the reader may make.
Thank you to @stmartinspress and @netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book is out July 27, 2020.
I feel like this title is a little misleading because Tabitha does not know anything! But I couldn’t put this book down! It sucked me in right away with Nina’s diary saying that if she dies under mysterious circumstances then it was her husband and HER who are responsible for her death. We find out in the very next chapter that Nina has died allegedly by suicide.
The book then jumps to Tabitha who is a struggling waitress in a lakeside town in New Hampshire. While on shift she has a run-in with her first love, Connor Ford. Their ill-fated romance fizzled out quickly when Connor’s rich and controlling grandmother found out about them and forced them to break up. Now as adults, they have a second shot at love… except for the minor detail of Connor’s wife, Nina...
There were times where I was frustrated with how insecure and naive Tabitha was. Like you cheated with your now husband when he was married to someone else… you should probably be at least moderately suspicious of him! But she definitely redeemed herself in the end.
And wow, that ending! The more I think about it, the more I realize that I don’t think I would have been happy with another ending. It was just very satisfying!

This book was fine but fell flat to me. I had a hard time getting past the naivety of the main character. I couldn't connect or understand her poor decisions. I didn't find myself caring what happened to her in the least and found nothing endearing with her relationship with Conner.
On a positive it had an interesting enough premise and was a fast easy summer read.

The Wife Who Knew Too Much by Michele Campbell #jaylammreads
After reading The Stranger on the Beach by Campbell last winter, I became an immediate fan of her writing! I was so excited to get the chance to read her new book early. It did not disappoint!!
Tabitha had her heart broken by Connor Ford years ago but now he is back and nothing will keep them apart...not even Connor's extremely wealthy and powerful wife.
This one had lots of drama throughout and a nice twist near the end- just what I need in a thriller. I loved the dual point of views- it kept us on our toes, not knowing who or what to believe. We get to see Tabitha's perspective for most of the story. She was incredibly naive and gullible. She was thrust into this life of luxury that she was not ready for. We also got Nina, Connor's rich wife's perceptive. I really loved her chapters. They really gave us the background on her and Connor's relationship.
I definitely really enjoy Campbell's writing style. I will need to read some of her backlist books now.
A twisted story of love, lies and too much money. Conner didn’t know how to survive life without money and made it control all the bad decisions he made Tabby only wanted to love Conner and it almost cost her life. The story is told from multiple point of views and with a non linear timeline. Figuring out who the true culprits are is almost impossible because almost all the characters are unlike able for one reason or the other. That is actually a pretty remarkable feat that the author pulled off.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
First love ... a rich wife ... a Cinderella story ... an affair... a murder ... betrayal ... lies ... 💰💰💰
This was a quick and fun mystery . It really grabbed my attention at the start, and although it slowed down a bit mid-way through, picked up again in the later half of he book. The twists and turns keep on coming and keep you guessing for sure ! I actually quite liked the ending .

My Recommendation: 5 stars
This is an incredible book! An absolute must read! Great for book clubs.
There is not a lot of action in this book. Instead, it focuses on relationships, how they are created, altered and even destroyed by a secret. Their internal and external struggle in silently grieving takes its toll. Everyone is changed by heartache but most also grow in the awareness of what’s important in their life.
I didn’t know if I would enjoy this book when tragedy struck so early in the story. To the contrary, I Loved It! I didn’t discover that it was based on a true story until I finished as I had downloaded some time ago. That just made it so profound. It is still affecting me weeks later.
I received an ARC from Simon and Schuster through NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion or rating of this book. I am voluntarily submitting this review and am under no obligation to do so.
If you liked It’s Always the Husband and A Stranger on the Beach you will love The Wife Who
Knew Too Much! Michele Campbell has a style of writing that gets you hooked on the first page. I couldn’t put this book down. This book has a great storyline and well-developed characters. It is an easy read and will keep you guessing until the end. I can’t wait to read her next book!
This book started out slow, but it got REALLY good really quickly.
I'm not going to say that I didn't predict the ending, but there were enough twists and turns that it stayed interesting and still managed to surprise me. I appreciated the in-depth character descriptions and felt l like I got a really good handle on who each character was. There were a lot of characters, so this can be a feat, but Campbell did it very well.
I thought some of the background information about Nina and her story was a little wordy, but I understand why some of it was necessary. Cheating is typically a trope I can't stand, but this book handled it differently and didn't glorify any of it. In fact, I loved how much Tabitha struggled with the fact that Connor cheated on his wife with her.
This book was honestly great and I absolutely read it in one day. Very good thriller that I'll recommend to any thriller lover!
This is not only the story of Connor and Tabitha but of all the people in their lives. Connor and Tabitha had a first love but because of different wealth and society classes part ways. Connor later marries but can’t get Tabitha out of his mind. He seeks her out and not long after that his wife dead. At first ruled a suicide but then it’s determined out was murder. But who did it? There were so many twists and turns up until the very end. I don’t want to give too much away but it was well worth the wait to get to the answers
This one starts out feeling like a romance! Twists starts happening and you gotta keep reading to find out what happens. There were some parts that did seem a little repetitive, but I still felt like I had to know what was going on, and I read this one so quickly. Tabitha who's having a hard time in life, ends up having a second chance at love with Connor, whom she dated long ago! They loved each other but ultimately they didn't work out. The problem is, Conner is married to a very rich woman, Nina. Nina ends up dead and it's ruled a suicide. This could be the perfect opportunity for them to be together, but things are just not as they seem. I do think this had a few good twists! It was slower the first half, but picked up the rest of the way. Definitely check this out if you are in the mood for a domestic suspense!
