I flew through this read in 2 sittings finishing it up at 3AM without realizing where the hours had gone. I've been in the mood for nothing but cozy mysteries so it was kind of fun to step a bit outside of that and go for something a little darker with a little more tension.

When a book is this fast paced I don't really expect to like the characters but in this case I did really like Tabitha. I don't think she could make a good decision (especially when it came to men) to save her life. She's caught up in the dream and romance and while I don't think she's particularly dumb she doesn't come off as a person who has a huge amount of common sense. This helped keep me from being frustrated when she steps into situations that are clearly not what they seem. Sure the reader knows better then to trust someone or go somewhere but it seems reasonable that Tabitha doesn't. She's just acting on impulse which is very true to who she is.

There's a distinct Rebecca note to part of the book which I very much enjoyed but instead of the terrifying housekeeper there's a rather business-like assistant. As well the suspense element while not overwhelming kept me reading. I wanted to know what happened next and just how everything would unravel. I wasn't disappointed. My only issue is there is a bit of a redemption arc at the very end that I just couldn't believe but that was a minor issue.

If you're looking for a good fast paced read that isn't cozy but not so scary that you'll be double checking locks this is a perfect pick.

When Tabitha unexpectedly runs into her first love, she realizes that her feelings for him are still there. Although Connor Ford is now married to a rich older woman, their relationship is anything but happy but divorce is out of the question. Their chance meeting turns into an affair which ultimately leads to marriage when Connor’s wife takes her own life. As Tabitha is suddenly thrown into a life she knows nothing about and comes across a diary belonging to the late Mrs. Ford, she begins to question Connor’s true intentions and who he really is.

This was a super fun book with a good amount of mystery and intrigue. Plenty of sketchy characters which will keep you guessing everyone’s motives. I quickly downloaded her other book after reading this one 👏🏻.

Really enjoyed The Wife Who Knew Too Much!! Fast paced, well-written, perfectly plotted. I just wish I actually liked Connor Ford. He seemed so weak and wishy washy, whereas Tabitha was so strong and feisty. But overall, it was a great read!

I hate to start reviews with the word “unfortunately” but this one will have to be that way. I did finish the book because I also hate to stop reading once I start and I kept hoping it would get better. But again, “unfortunately” it didn’t.
I never came to care for Tabitha, and I cared even less for Connor. My husband was in law enforcement for many years and maybe that is why I knew the way Tabitha talked about figuring things out and how the death investigation was handled, things just didn’t add up. There was just something missing in this story, I can’t put my finger on it, it may be shallow, that might be the best way to describe, it didn’t have a lot of depth and some of the writing seemed elementary.
It does have a lot of twists and turns toward the end but there just weren’t enough to pull this review out of the doldrums. Not my cup of tea, maybe others will enjoy it much more.
I was allowed an ARC from St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for my honest unbiased review. This one comes in with 3 stars.

The Wife Who Knew Too Much by Michele Campbell is the perfect summer read! It starts with a diary entry from Nina. Nina is a very rich woman and in her diary she has found out her husband Connor, who is 20 years younger than her, is having an affair and is planning to kill her for her money. They have a prenup and if Connor is the one who wants a divorce or is found to be unfaithful he gets no money in the divorce. If Nina were to die he would inherit everything. Nina fears for her life and plans to trigger the prenup clause after a huge party she is having for Fourth of July.. she will have Connor escorted off her property. The next entry after the star entry is Nina‘s obituary. It seems she committed suicide. But did she really?
After this, we get to meet Tabitha. Tabitha is a waitress in New Hampshire. She is 30 and barely making ends meet. She is shocked one evening when her high school boyfriend, her one true love, shows up at the restaurant where she works. She has not seen him since they were 17 and his wealthy grandmother forced them to in the relationship. This boyfriend is Connor. She knows Connor is married to a wealthy woman but he claims that he is still in love with Tabitha. From here the story takes many twists and turns. You think everyone is guilty, then you think they’re not guilty, then you may think they’re guilty again. I really enjoyed this book it kept me on my toes and did not get slow in any parts. It’s what I call a guilty pleasure book,, a story about rich people and their wealthy lifestyles. I recommend this book to anyone who loves thrillers. Thank you to net galley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This was an advanced reader’s copy kindly given to me by NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press. It was one that I thought sounded promising and interesting. Unfortunately, it wasn’t one of my favorite reads…

Starting with the characters, I must say there wasn’t really one that I liked or related to. The protagonist, Tabitha, was more frustrating than anyone else in the book. Though her teenage flashbacks caused me some frustration, her naivety reached a new level during her adult years that I simply had no patience for. I know there are people out there who probably would make similar mistakes like Tabitha’s, so maybe we can say she’s realistic, but getting involved with a married man is just something I don’t believe in. All of this made it extremely challenging to have any sympathy for her and her situation.

The plot, for me, dragged multiple times. As I have mentioned there were some flashbacks to Tabitha’s teenage/young adult years, and these I just found no comfort or had any interest in reading. Then, the adultery that happened was something I also didn’t enjoy reading. In addition, the stalking, death, and poor decision making just didn’t create the suspense that I would have hoped for.

I also found some plot points to be inconsistent with others. For instance, at one point in her life, Tabitha needs to worry about paparazzi and people misconstruing what they see. The author built it up in a way that every time Tabitha went out, someone would take a photograph of her and create a falsified story. However, there was a time when she went out multiple times and if she was photographed that would’ve caused so much of a ruckus, but apparently it was never an issue…it just made no sense.

When I was finally able to begin put the pieces together at the end of the story, the pace picked up some. Unfortunately, though, the very ending just seemed way too convenient for Tabitha. It basically left her with no conflict in a fairly easy way.

On top of everything else, I wasn’t a big fan of the writing. It seemed more like telling than showing what was happening. This most likely contributed to the dragging plot and the lack of suspense.

Overall, though I appreciate having the opportunity to read this book, it wasn’t one that I enjoyed very much. I don’t see myself in looking at this author’s other works, unfortunately. I’m not really sure who I would recommend this to. Clearly, some have enjoyed it well enough, but I wouldn’t honestly recommend this to any of my friends…

This is another great read by Author Michele Campbell. I was hooked from the beginning right to the ending which I had not figured out! The story starts out in New Hampshire where teen-age Tabitha works at the local beach-side fast-food place while living with her grandparents. She meets Connor Ford, grandson of wealthy Jean Ford who everyone seems to be afraid of. They end up falling in love and when Jean Ford loses her money, Connor leaves. Fast forward to some years later when Connor shows up at the restaurant where Tabitha now works. Tabitha is divorced and Connor is married to an older woman who is very wealthy. The spark is still there between them! Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC of this very twisty thriller in exchange for an honest review.

This is my third Michele Campbell read, and she has quickly become an author that I will continue to look forward to new releases from! She writes such juicy, drama filled books that I can’t seem to put down!

This is one of those books where you find yourself not knowing if you can trust the lead male character. I went back and forth so many times, but was secretly rooting for him, despite some of the poor choices he made. I guess I’m a sucker for a good romance?

I also really enjoyed reading from Tabitha’s perspective, she seemed more relatable. During the part that was from Nina’s perspective, I found myself getting bored and just wanting to get back to Tabitha’s POV.

I was definitely sad about the ending. I’m glad Tabitha and Connor’s baby didn’t die, but I was really rooting for Connor and Tabby’s happily ever after.

Looking forward to reading more from Michele Campbell in the future!

Not for me. It was easy to see the twists, so I spent the whole book blaming the idiot main character for not picking up on what was being thrown down a whole lot sooner.

Tabitha had one of those high school romances that only happen in fairy tales, with one small flaw. Her boyfriend Connor wanted to hide their relationship from everyone because his family was rich and Tabitha’s wasn’t. He feared his family’s reproach if they found out, and sadly, Tabitha was okay with this.
So begins how I feel for Tabitha. I’m not at all happy with her decisions as a young girl; she wasted so much time on a worthless venture, lying to her mother, creating tension on her job, and ultimately crushing her self esteem and her grandmother’s trust.
But Tabitha grows up. She remains in the same seaside community, taking care of her grandmother until she passes and waitressing at the café. She marries a bad boy, Derek, gets caught up in drug charges, and then divorces him while he’s in prison. Finally, life seems like smooth sailing, nothing exciting is ever going to happen and Tabitha has basically made her bed, living and working in the same tired little community she grew up in.
Until one day at the diner, in walks Connor! Still as handsome, if not more so with his age, she is immediately cast under his spell once again. And I have to admit, he does seem too good to be true. With hopeless abandon, Tabitha becomes that weak, manipulated lover again, this time with full knowledge that Connor is married to a very rich and powerful woman.
In a whirlwind of events, Connor finds himself a widower and immediately marries Tabitha. They begin the life of the rich and famous. Continuing in that breakneck speed, in mere weeks Tabitha is charged with Connor’s wife’s murder. The motive is solid; Tabitha was in the area the night of the death, so it appears to be a closed case.
As Tabitha sits in jail, now a couple of months pregnant, she begins to ponder all the errors in her judgment. It’s about time, right? Tabitha agrees to work with the police to prove her innocence and find the real killer.
The characters of this book, besides basic Tabitha who is way, way too vulnerable, are all over the place. Who can you trust, who’s in love with whom, where do the allegiances lie? It’s an intricate web of manipulation, deceit, and greed. Fast-paced, fun, at times frustrating, this will be a fun summer read.

This book may work for others but for me it just did not hit the spot. It had a good premise but it fell flat. I felt sorry for Tabitha being dragged into this mess. She seemingly had a good life until Connor came back in and in my opinion essentially ruined it. He knew her love for him would be easy for her to believe him and start a new life with him with all these promises. After she moved in with him you could easily tell who was the culprit.

I appreciate the opportunity to read and review this title.

I'm torn on how to review this book. Parts of it were good, and parts of it were cliche. I'll just chalk it up to being a middle-line thriller and leave it at that. 3.5 stars rounded down.

If you’re looking for an extremely suspenseful, nonstop-tense novel, this is what you’re looking for.

A very rich woman, Nina, is certain her younger husband, Connor, wants to kill her. The prenup is ironclad—if she leaves him, he gets millions, but if he cheats on her, he gets nothing. Nina has evidence he’s been having affair.

Tabitha fell in love with Connor when they were just teenagers. He was part of a wealthy family, she was the country club help. Years later, because of bad choices and bad luck, Tabitha is waitressing again, and once again, she finds Conner is sitting in her section. The attraction to each other has never faded, and he takes her to a colleague’s place where they rekindle, at least briefly, what they had. He explains about the prenup, and he also works at Nina’s company—that’s how they met. He’d be banned from doing the job at another company because of a nondisclosure agreement. Plus, at his level of wealth, he and Nina are fodder for the paparazzi. He tells her that as much as he cares for her, things are complicated.

Tabitha initially tries to convince herself it’s a little fling, but things get serious quickly, particularly when Nina is found dead by suicide, meaning Connor is free. Tabitha and Connor marry quickly, but she doesn’t have anyone to help her make the transition from waitress to glamorous wealth, and when it appears Nina’s death might not be a suicide, it also appears that Tabitha looks awfully, conveniently guilty.

I wanted to fall in love with Connor along with Tabitha, but I didn’t. It might just be that I’m generally suspicious of incredibly good-looking rich people. But that also might be why this kind of story line is popular—it assures those of us who are middle class but a few paychecks away from financial disaster that being middle class is the safest way to go, and fabulous wealth is for the TV shows we watch. In my world, I never ever worry about getting framed for murder.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to review this novel, which RELEASES JULY 28, 2020.

I have voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this title given to me via NetGalley. I really enjoyed this book. It was really well written and it just had you trying to solve the mystery. I look forward to seeing what’s next from this author.

This was a good twisty, past paced thriller. Although I think some of the characters were not so interesting and believable, the plot is well developed and the the story moves fast enough to keep the readers engaged until the end of the book. I’d recommend this book for readers that like family drama thrillers .

When Tabitha runs into Connor ten years after their summer romance, she doesn't realize that he still has feelings for her. Now he is a wealthy man while she is a struggling waitress. When Connor's wife commits suicide and they can finally be together, it seems like a fairytale. But is everything really like it seems? This is a great book that keeps your interest from the beginning to the end.

Thank you to NetGalley, the Publisher and Michelle Campbell for the opportunity to read and review.

None of the characters had redeeming qualities but sometimes that’s what you need to cast doubt on each person. Does Connor really love Tabitha? Is there foul play involving Nina’s death? When money is involved, you never know who to trust. This was an enjoyable, fast paced read.

This book starts with a bang and keeps you turning to read just one more page. I flew through this story, it was a quick read with a lot going on. I kept thinking I knew what was going to happen only to find out that was not the case. Really good psychological thriller!

Thank you to Net Galley for the advance digital Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed the character development, but there was a lot of backstory to this book that seemed like too much fluff, and at times was unbelievable. The love story between Conner, the prince of the book, and Tabitha, the Poor Cinderella of the book, was what kept me reading. I wanted to learn that they ended up together with a happy family and long life as a normal couple. All the twists and turns to get to the end we’re enjoyable reading, but I, at times, lost the love story I wanted. 3 stars for this psychological thriller.

this is not your typical psychological thriller about a woman falling in love with a married man and then the wife is found dead. The first half of the book was basically along this storyline but the rest of the book was edge of the seat exciting. Every time that I thought I had it figured out, I was wrong and it twisted again. You find the main character Tabby grew from a very naive young woman into a strong woman that will fight and do whatever it takes for those she loves. Highly recommended for those who love thrillers.
