An old flame returns and renews hope in a woman that has never forgotten him.... a husband wishes to escape his controlling wife.... and the wife? Well, she warns anyone reading her diary.... if she dies, it was her husband who killed her.
Michele Campbell certainly keeps her readers guessing and I continued to turn the pages looking for answers. As the chapters alternated between Tabitha Girard and Nina Levitt and their history with the handsome Connor Ford, it was really starting to seem like I couldn't believe anything that I was being told. Well, the twists started coming, but with my keen eye, I was able to see where this train was heading. Unfortunately, it took a little more convincing for the very naive Tabitha to grasp the hellfire she was about to encounter. However, that didn't spoil my reading experience one tiny bit! This is certainly going to be one of those books you want to take to the beach, but don't forget the sunscreen!

The Wife Who Knew Too Much is a suspenseful psychological thriller that had me guessing through most of the book! The short summary is that Tabitha and Connor were high school sweethearts who were separated when Connor's wealthy family intervened to split them up. They both held on to their feelings for each other, but their lives took very different paths. Connor married an extremely wealthy older woman and is immediately unhappy in the marriage. Tabitha and him reconnect when years later he is eating dinner at the restaurant she works at. They realize they still have feelings for each other, and when Connor's wife Nina is found dead by suicide in her own pool, Tabitha and Connor have the chance to be together freely. But things are always more complicated than they seem, it soon comes out that the circumstances surrounding Nina's death are quite suspicious.
I thought this book was the perfect summer reading novel! I was definitely invested to find out how the story would end, and I did find myself rooting for Tabitha throughout the book. It definitely was a bit more predictable than I would have liked in the end, but I am still glad I read it!
Halfway through the book I was expecting and ending soon, then realized how much more I had left. The plot thickened and took so many curves. This is one you start devouring so you can find out what happens.
Talk about a slow burn book! Throughout "The Wife Who Knew Too Much", I was unsure of my feelings about the novel. When I hit the 3/4 mark of the book, I was sold on this novel. I couldn't stop reading because I.NEEDED.MORE. If you are looking for a twisted, action packed, shocking ending, this book has it! I am still a little shocked by what I read!
The characters Tabitha and Connor are flawed a bit -- I think Tabitha was naïve from time to time and Connor was money obsessed but I think both those flaws fit well into the storyline.
Author Michelle Campbell has earned herself a new fan!
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book.
How much does the second wife know? The second wife believes she knows her husband Connor even though they have not been together very long. She is thrust into a life of riches that she struggles with as her background is that of a waitress with little money in the bank. As you read, you wonder how and why the first wife was killed. Who killed her? The author leads you into believing it is one individual, then quickly has you believing it is someone else. Who is lying? Who is keeping secrets?
Good mystery to read when you are looking for an easy beach read.
Since I was such a fan of Stranger on the Beach I hoped and prayed for this one! And boy did I get lucky! Thank you so much, I love, love, loved it! At first it seems like the classic "careful what you wish for", it's definitely that and so much more!! Well written, great characters and more twists than a pretzel! Loved it and can't wait to read more!

Lately I seem to be loving books that change up the format. When I started reading this ARC, I was immediately intrigued by Nina’s diary entries. The book opens with her entry stating that she knows her husband has been cheating and that if anything happens to her, he did it.
The story goes on to introduce us to Tabitha, a single, hard working waitress. Then we meet Connor, Tabitha’s first love and Nina’s husband. Tabitha and Connor reconnect over a weekend, but Connor has to return to his wealthy wife Nina. Just after Nina’s annual 4th of July party, she takes her own life, or did she?
The characters were a mix of people I was cheering on and many that I loved to hate. At times I felt the need to shake Tabitha for being naive and dingy, but I realize this book wouldn’t have worked otherwise. The story was told from both Nina and Tabitha’s points of view, both past and present. The chapters were pretty short and this was a quick read.
If you’re looking for a twist yet easy read this book is it! A perfect vacation read!
Thank you @netgalley and @stmartinspress for an advanced copy of the book for my honest review.
This was a really good thriller. This book kept me interested til the end. It's full of twists. It did get slow in a few parts but was good overall. I would recommend.
I received this ARC from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing me with an advance copy of this book. I freely give this review.
On July 28th, be sure to put The Wife Who Knew Too Much on your beach read list. This book takes you inside the world of the very rich when Tabitha has an affair with her old boyfriend, Connor, who married a wealthy older woman. Tabitha’s heart is taken by this love, but lies, deceit, and treachery await.
This book draws you in at the beginning, and the twists are so interesting. You can never figure out if you can trust Connor. Every time Tabitha innocently trusts someone it doesn’t go well. The world of the rich and famous is foreign and hard for her to navigate, and she rightly sees it as shallow and fraught with unpleasant people.
This is a strong 4 star read that won’t let you down. You think you know how it will end but it will surprise you.
A taut, page-turning thriller you don't want to pass up!
This gripping and skillful examination of two marriages, two wives, and one husband has plenty of twists and turns that keep you guessing and won't turn you loose until the final page! I've read everything Michelle Campbell has written and she just keeps getting better and better. She delivers great character development and lots of head-scratching moments that cause you to stay up way too late trying to figure out where it will all end. Happily ever after?? Maybe not when you know too much! Great read and recommended.
Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC. Opinion/recommendation is entirely my own.
This book is a bit of a split decision for me. It kept my interest and I read it quickly. I was never bored. But, it's not all that well written. It feels a bit like one of those made for TV movies on Lifetime. Overly dramatic, shallow character development, an overblown romance (with a guy who is an asshole), some holes in the plot, and a heroine who is a real airhead.
It's not a book that will stick with you or change your life, nor is it even at the top of its game when it comes to fast paced thriller/whodunits. But, something about it did keep my interest.
It's a Twinkie. You know it's not good and it's made of nothing, but you enjoy it anyway. I'd give it two and a half stars if I could.
This book grabbed me from the start. It was a great idea with a good follow through. However, the last third of it was just one twist after another. The ending was pretty ridiculous. The main story is about a young girl, her wealthy boyfriend and what happens ten years later. They meet after all these years and are still crazy about each other- or just crazy. Without spoilers I just have to say, it didn’t live up to it’s beginning. Thanks to NetGalley for the early arc. I m giving the book three stars for the first half.
I really enjoy Michele Campbell. I think she does a great job standing out in the sea of domestic noir novels that flooded the market after 'Gone Girl' shook the book world. 'The Wife Who Knew Too Much' was a great read and I plowed right through it. I love a thriller, and pride myself on my ability to pick out who to trust pretty early on. Campbell kept the guesses coming, while keeping the storyline engaging and moving fast. All in all, I would definitely recommend this wild ride of a summer read!
I received a free copy from NetGalley. Love, tons of money, possible murder, what could possibly go wrong? A page turner with lots of twists but it does get a little slow in the middle.
Quick mystery /thriller. You never know who you like or don't like almost up to the end! A tangled web of lies and deceit that holds your interest. It did a time leap in one part that was a little odd, but I just had to get over it and keep going. Overall a good read.
No an 'oh my you have to read this' kind of book, but just a good read.
I received this book as a complimentary copy. Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy.
I was under no obligation to provide a review.
I could NOT put this one down! It was a very good thriller that kept me guessing nearly to the end!
The Wife Who Knew Too Much features Tabitha, a working class waitress who runs into her rich ex-boyfriend Conner from years ago. They broke up due to their differences, but they still have a connection. Too bad Conner is married—to a very wealthy woman.
Tabitha and Conner have a passionate weekend when he returns to Nina to try to get her to think it’s her plan to get a divorce so he can get millions. Unfortunately, Nina ends up dead and no one knows how or why.
It’s a good thriller with crumbs dropped at the beginning that reappear later. A lot of good secondary characters who alternate between being suspicious and charming. The ending is satisfying and neatly ties up all the loose ends.
A good one! Go get it when it comes out! Thanks to netgalley for my advance reader copy.
A fun book of rags to unearned riches with a mystery or two at its center. When Tabitha first meets Connor, she is a pool girl at Connor's country club. Because he is a member of the town's most prestigious family. Tabatha can't believe such a summer love will last. And, indeed, it doesn't.
It isn't until years later that Tabitha, working in the local pub, runs into Connor again. Has he been looking for her or is this really a chance encounter? The chemistry from that magic summer is back and once again they fall into each other's arms. The only catch? Connor is now married to a fabulously rich woman. Soon nothing is as it seems and Tabitha is thrown into a world she doesn't recognize and one where she feels she can trust no one.
A fairly lightweight read, it's is never the less enjoyable it would be perfect for a trip to the beach
I really loved this book. Set in a glittery mansion in the Hamptons, The Wife Who Knew Too Much deals with the mysterious death of Nina Levitt, and the woman who married Nina's widower months after she died. I was genuinely surprised by all the twists and turns, and I even gasped out loud as some of the details of Nina's death were revealed. Reminiscent of popular thrillers like The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl, the book was definitely a page-turner with an interesting cast of characters. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is that the "big twist" was a bit predictable, and I really love when I'm completely blindsided by this genre of book. I would definitely recommend it, as I thought the pacing of the story worked super well.
3.5 Stars
This book started out really strong and pulled me in right away. The second half of the book didn't work as well for me. The protagonist's consistent poor judgement made it hard for me to root for her. Sorry. Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an ARC.
