The Wife Who Knew Too Much by Michelle Campbell was an Advanced Reader Copy that I was so fortunate to get thanks to Netgalley.

Here’s the plot on this one:
Tabatha is a hard working waitress, trying to make ends meet. Though she’s divorced from her law breaking husband Derek, he still lurks around and follows her. At the restaurant one night, Tabatha runs into her old high school boyfriend, Connor, and together they have a weekend that neither of them will ever forget. Weeks later, Nina, Connor’s wife ends up dead, but who did it? Was it really a suicide or was someone out to get her? and why would she write a letter just in case of her untimely dead?

This book had me from the very first page and throughout the entire first half…then it slowly started to go downhill. While Tabatha’s decisions from the very beginning were just plain stupid, for lack of a better word, it was almost comical to see what idiotic thing she would do next.
By the second half, a lot of things throughout the story were either not necessary or dropped…like Nina’s sister. I don’t think that part was necessary at all. Derek’s role was somewhat important…but again was he really a necessary component to the story? and I feel like they just dropped him toward the end of the book.
The ending all tied together quite nicely, but man…it kind of dragggggged, with way too much unnecessary detail, and also it was a little far fetched. I dont think someone would get arrested for murder and then they would release and wire them because they say someone else did it, giving them a chance to prove that!

This was my 3rd Michelle Campbell Book. I’ve also read A Stranger on the Beach and She was the Quiet One. This was probably my least favorite of the three, but it was still a good book with lots of twists and turns and it definitely kept me guessing.

This is my first free book through NetGalley -- thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and Michele Campbell for letting me read this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

I think I'm in the minority here, but I don't mind. I read a lot of books, almost all of them in the Mystery & Thriller genre, and this one just didn't do it for me, for many reasons.

The plot of this book is decent and starts off with an intriguing bang. We meet Nina, a rich, beautiful woman who believes her husband is plotting to kill her. Nina is definitely the most interesting character in this book. It seems like everyone she's associated with is a snake, and even though her associates make her out to be one too, I got the impression through her narration that she was actually a decent person (probably the only one in this book).

Her husband is Connor, the sexy younger man that she falls for, who is really only about her money. He's apparently only been interested in money his whole life, as we see in the flashback scenes with the other character in the book. He's kind of mysterious and hard to get a hold on throughout the book.

Lastly, we (unfortunately) have our main narrator Tabitha. I don't have many good things to say about Tabitha. She's whiny and needy, which made reading her parts of the book almost unbearable. I can honestly say that I hated her and wanted her ending not to be a happy one.

I can't really explain the plot of the book without giving away spoilers, but the basics are that Tabitha and Connor, who were teenage lovers, find each other again and Connor tells Tabitha he plans to leave Nina and be with her. Then Nina dies and a lot of stuff happens, twisting it into an elaborate plot where everyone seems suspect.

To me, the plot felt unrealistic and like things were just being thrown at me left and right out of nowhere. It was twisty, but not in an exciting way like I'm used to. It kind of just felt like straws were being grasped at. As one example, you randomly find out one of the characters is pregnant in one page. That's right -- she all of a sudden feels sick, then oops she throws up, then drives to get pregnancy tests to take, and takes two of them. All on one page. I don't know, I just feel this isn't typically how it goes, especially when you're not trying to get pregnant. I actually read this scene out loud to my fiancé and we both had a good laugh at the silliness of it.

I also felt like the dialogue was extremely juvenile, especially coming from Tabitha (can't even tell you how many times she said "What, Connor, no" and I could just hear it in her whiny voice. I felt like I was reading a conversation between two 12 year olds, rather than people who are supposed to be adults.

Overall, I'd give 3.5 stars for the plot but 1 star for the characters and the dialogue. Definitely will be adding this one to my "wouldn't read again" shelf, and probably wouldn't recommend it to others, either.

When I first started reading this thriller, I sort of rolled my eyes and thought, “oh I’ve got this figured out already. It’s obvious who killed Mrs. Levitt!” But as the story went on, I found myself unsure of my initial reaction and proceeded to dig further!

The Wife Who Knew Too Much is a quick read with plenty of unlikable characters. Not that it’s a bad thing, though - it fit with the narrative that everyone is a suspect!

Millionaire Nina Levitt is dead, and there are plenty of people who could’ve wanted her that way. The husband she is trying to divorce, the woman her husband is having an affair with, or one of many employees at her late husband’s corporation. With a huge estate at stake, plenty of infidelity, and questionable decisions on everyone’s part, The Wife Who Knew Too Much is a good, quick thriller!

Think about knowing your husband is going to kill you. Then think about who else could be in on the plot to help him. Feel unsafe yet? You should!!

Marry for money or marry for love? It’s a bad combination if one is married for love and the other is for money.

This story keeps you hanging on as you travel through the events that lead up to the dirty deed and the whodunit.

Nothing is as it seems even when all the chips are down.

The Wife Who Knew Too Much is a fast paced and fun read. The book starts out with Nina's diary that foretells part of the story. Nina is a super wealthy woman who's first husband passes and she inherits a vast fortune. At Nina's 4th of July party she meets a younger employee named Connor. Nina's first husband cheated on her so she keeps a short leash on Connor and eventually has an airtight prenup signed. Tabatha first love in high school was Connor. Connor was from a wealthy family and he gave up Tabatha for the family and money. However, when Tabatha next sees Connor, the old feelings are still there.

This story is fast paced. I read it in three days with Zoom happy hours and a full time job. It kept my interest and the middle of the book on kept you guessing who was the good guy/gal and who were the villains in the story. The book is available July 28, 2020 so it will be a perfect summer read.

I would like to thank #NetGalley for an advanced readers copy of this book. #thewifewhoknewtoomuch, #MicheleCampbell, #NetGalley

Let me start by saying this was my first Michele Campbell book and I was NOT disappointed at all. I didn’t know where the story was going to go after reading the first chapter with Nina’s note but I knew I couldn’t put the story down after reading it. I love how she had surprises even after I didn’t think there couldn’t be more. I loved how you saw the relationships between tabby and Connor from when they were younger to so many years later I love when authors do that. I give this 5 stars for the thriller, love story, and twist it had in it! Well done!!

Tabby and Connor. Connor and Tabby. After an intense summer fling during their teenage years that left Tabby heartbroken and Conner absent, Tabby has had it rough. After a messy divorce with an ex-husband who is out of jail and seems to be stalking her, it seems like fate that Connor would show up at the restaurant she works at thirteen years later. The stars align and they reunite for one weekend, even though Tabby knows that Connor is married to the famous Nina Levitt. Connor wants to divorce Nina and marry Tabby, but things get messy when Nina is found dead. A thriller novel that is sure to keep readers on their toes, The Wife Who Knew Too Much is a fast-paced and suspenseful read.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster between the good, the bad, and the ugly sides of relationships. I absolutely loved this book and was shocked by the ending. As a person who loves playing detective and trying to figure out "whodunit," I love analyzing characters in the books I pick up and reading between the lines. I thought that in the case of this novel, the plot and unexpected ending were perfect. I really enjoyed the book and read a majority of it in one sitting. I highly recommend!

How do you know who to trust? The book starts out as a normal second chance romance. But wealth and greed take romance and twist it into murder and conspiracy. Who is telling the truth? Can anyone be trusted? Some excellent twists in this book. I liked the story.

I really enjoyed this book. It's a mixture of romance and intrigue with a few twists and surprises along the way. Some of the twists were a bit obvious, but there were a few that kept me guessing and took me by surprise. I enjoyed the contrasts within the book of different lifestyles and value systems and the consequences that come about from decisions made at various times in life. #stmartinspress #thewifewhoknewtoomuch #goodbook #netgalley #goodreads

The guy's rich and the girl is from the proverbial wrong side of the tracks. But then it gets twisty. He's married to a fabulously wealthy woman, Nina. With a prenup. And Nina is suspicious because she generally thinks people are after her money.

One evening Connor the Rich shows up in the restaurant of Tabitha the Poor. They haven't seen each other since high school. The flames reignite.

Then someone starts following Tabitha. Things get very weird. Tabitha's creepy ex-husband gets out of prison and he adds his craziness to the mix.

And all of a sudden, Tabitha is facing a life sentence for a murder she didn't commit. At some points I was asking her, could you do anything MORE stupid? But, then, really, no one deserves to go to prison when they're being framed.

Could anything good come out of this? Or could any more tragedies occur?

Yes, actually.

Thank you to NetGalley that provided this book for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book. Just when you think you have it figured out, you don't. I recommend this book for anyone who loves to try to figure out a mystery. It is full of twists and turns that will keep you hooked until the very end.

When Tabitha recognizes her old summer fling boyfriend in the restaurant she’s working in, it brings back all that emotion of young love. Connor is as handsome as ever, and has married a very wealthy woman. Yet when he sees her, he is also remembering what feelings they had for each other. After a quick hookup, he tells Tabby that he loves her, but cannot leave his wife. Turns out his prenup will go into effect if he asks for a divorce, and he’s not willing to lose all that money! Classy guy! As luck would have it, his wife “commits suicide” in their pool during a huge party. Surprise, surprise, some people think Connor may be involved! I found Tabby to be a bit foolish, believing every little think Connor told her, but hey, it was a pretty interesting read! Thanks #NetGally for this pre-pub read.

Great book! I couldn't put it down. I finished it today around 3am because I couldn't sleep without knowing the ending. This book was good from the beginning to the end, it has more parts with narratives than dialogue, but it didn't bother me anymore once I started getting into the story. I had read the back of the book a few weeks ago and then when I started reading the book I decided not to read the back again so I wouldn't know what was coming. It was great because then I had lots of surprises. It was not what I expected and I loved it! This book is a mix of mystery and romance but they go perfectly together. It goes back and fourth from the past to the present and it talks about marring into money and all the consequences it brings, teenager summer love and the mystery about the suicide or murder of the rich wife.

The book starts with Nina's diary and then it switches to Tabitha, who narrates most of the book. Tabitha is a waitress from a small town in New Hampshire and one day at work she saw Connor Ford, the guy she had loved (and still loves) deeply 13 years ago. She knew Connor had gotten married to one of the richest women in NY but when they saw each other that day all their feelings came back and ended up spending a weekend together. After promising her that he would leave his paranoid wife to be with her, Nina, wis wife, was found dead. Is Connor Ford the guy she thinks he is? Is he really in love with her? Did he kill Nina or did Nina kill herself, or did somebody else kill Nina? Lots of family secrets and connections between some of the characters. A must read!

This was a soap-opery drama. Entertaining, nonetheless and a quick, twisty read! Recommended if you're in need of something on the lighter side and need a palette cleanser.

Thank you to Ms. Cambell, the publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to receive this ARC! First off, I will mention that anyone who typically enjoys a good Lifetime Network mystery/thriller movie (myself included), is going to be a huge fan of this novel! It has a lot of the same features, which may not be some people's cup of tea, but even then it's still a great, easy read. It incorporates all the classic aspects of a mystery/thriller based in a romantic, seemingly wonderful relationship, with the revealation of a darker, mysterious plot at the core. While the characters are not deeply defined and the plot may be predictable at times, that's actually what I enjoyed about this novel. It's a great, easy read when you're looking for something that doesn't require becoming heavily invested in the storyline, while still keeping the pages turning because of the well crafted writing style. If you're looking for a relaxing, easy novel to read over a weekend this summer, I would definitely add this one to the list. Thanks again for the ARC and the chnace to provide my feedback!

If you want an easy read that contains a little bit of romance and a little bit of mystery then this is the book for you. While the storyline was decent and it was full of twists and turns, I can't give this book more than three stars. It started off really good and it captivated my attention but halfway through it fell flat for me. I was able to guess the twists and I wasn't too fond of the characters. However, I did enjoy the storyline and the writing was good. This was my Michele Campbell book, I can't wait to check out her other books.

I'm absolutely blown away by this book. "The Wife Who Knew Too Much" has everything I love in a good domestic thriller: fast pace, tension, twisty and shady events, sexy romance and a relatable main character.

Tabitha and Connor fell in love when they were young and naive but were separated by social expectations and class; she was poor while he was filthy rich. Thirteen years later, Tabitha is still poor, but now also divorced and with an ugly criminal record for a crime she didn't commit. One day, as she's waiting tables, her eyes meet with Connor's - still filthy rich and charming, but now married to his bitchy, controlling, jealous and aloof wife Nina. Soon, Connor becomes a widower after Nina's apparent suicide, and he is single again. Can the young, sweet romance between him and Tabitha be revived? Tabitha's wildest dreams say "yes," but... she finds Nina's diary which suggests that Connor and his mistress would have something to do with her death.

Was Tabitha set up from the start? Did Connor get rid of his wife? Did the mistress have anything to do with Nina's death? Campbell does a great job keeping you on your toes as the dark secrets are unveiled.

Besides the unexpected twists and turns, perhaps my favorite thing about this book is how deep and realistic the characters are, although unfortunately they are all pretty much unlikable and irritating, with Tabitha's naivete and Connor's rich-and-powerful-man vibes... Which is the reason why I'm giving this book 4 stars instead of 5, because I was totally in love with the plot.

The plot of the book wasn't quite what I expected based on the description. Without going into too much detail, there's a lot that happens before the pivotal turn in the summary. However, if you go in with an open mind, The Wife Who Knew Too Much is a fast-paced thriller that packs a few solid punches.

It's full of unreliable narrators and just overall shady characters doing shady things, which helps make a lot of the twists that much more impactful. Often in thrillers, I find myself yelling at the protagonist for doing something that is obviously a very bad idea. However, I understood Tabitha's struggle of not knowing whom to trust and the consequences of that uncertainty. This made it even easier to root for her, even if I wasn't sure if she'd turn out to be a villain.

Very sneaky characters, a plot that constantly keeps you guessing. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review!

Not my usual type of read but still very good. It had interesting characters and well developed plot. I'm not usually a fan of flashback type of stories.
This is the first book I've read by this author and it was good enough that I'll be looking for more. Thanks for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
