This was a disappointing book for me. The description of the book sounded good. The first few chapters were pretty good, but it fell flat for me. It was predictable, there was no character development, and the dialogue left a lot to be desired.

I'm definitely in the minority with my opinion though so make sure you read some of the positive reviews too.

I was totally all aboard the Michele Campbell train after reading A Stranger on The Beach but The Wife Who Knew Too Much even outdid that book for me.

This story totally absorbed my attention from the start and I was not bored for one second.

The story is based around main character, Tabitha. Tabitha is on the brink of turning thirty, newly divorced, working a dead end job, when an ex lover from her teenage years, Connor, shows up at her work.

Connor is not only gorgeous and now married to a millionaire but also the 'one that got away' for Tabitha.

Upon Connor and Tabitha's rekindling relationship many questions arise for Tabitha. Why does Connor want her now that he seemingly has the world and why is Connor's wife found dead shortly after walking back into Tabitha's life?

This book was a complete whirlwind and I really enjoyed every minute of it.

"I know this is wrong. But it feels so right. And I don't want it to end."

A quick book that would make a great beach read! If you love reading thrillers about marrying into money and the troubles that come with it this is the book for you.

I'm eating it 3 stars because the protagonist was naive and annoying in her earnestness and I guessed the twists, but I read a lot of Thrillers.

From the get go this story had me hooked and anxiously flipping pages. The innocence of a first love summer romance, deception, divorce, a dark past coming back to haunt and even a possible murder, I really did feel like it had all the elements to turn into an amazing story. The premise of this book is great but it just didn't work for me as a whole. The writing could have been better. There were times I couldn't tell if it was just bad writing or the characters lacked a single human emotion. For the majority of the book I had more questions than answers...and sadly many of them were never answered or even touched on again. I enjoyed the twists and turns, several of the character's truth's coming to light, and the fact that I was kept guessing until the very end. 3.5 stars Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This story is one part romance, one part mystery, and a whole lot of domestic drama. Tabitha and Conner reconnect after he wanders into her workplace. The only problem—he’s married to the ultra rich and well known New Yorker Nina Levitt. When Nina suddenly passes Tabitha thinks her problems are over, but in reality they’ve only just begun.

This was such a quick read; Great for the hot summer months when you just want to kind of put your mind in neutral and just roll with a book. There’s an intricate web of tangled relationships, big money, and even bigger secrets. While I liked the feel of the story and the summer mood, the book overall felt a bit like a soap opera. There were many instances where the character’s actions and use of language felt over dramatic. I was personally not a fan of that aspect and how it was threaded through much of the book. Even though this wasn’t my cup of tea, I do think a lot of romance and mystery readers will like it.

This book kept me interested throughout, but something about the story line felt unbelievable. Tabitha's love for Conner felt exaggerated and fake towards the end of the book.

The Wife Who Knew Too Much, by Michele Campbell, is definitely one of those books that you can't put down. It captures your attention and immediately draws you into the story from the first page. The pace is perfect for a story with twists and turns, and you find yourself wanting to continue to read to see what will happen next. This is a book with many facets: a love story / mystery / tragedy. The leading lady, Tabby, is a woman whose life has been dealt some unfair blows, but those times have only made her a stronger woman. We want to see her finally receive something she desires and deserves in life. While she longs to believe in the faithfulness of Connor, our painfully handsome leading man, she holds back knowing she must seek the truth in order to freely accept and enjoy the love he professes to have for her. In most books I usually can figure out the "true culprit". This book, however, kept me guessing until the end. Michele has written a great suspense thriller that will keep you turning the pages. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a great suspense/thriller, it will not disappoint! (I was given a copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest opinion. I can say without hesitation that I would have gladly paid to read this book—yes, it is that good!)

Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy of The Wife Who Knew Too Much.

Overall, I did really enjoy this book. This is the 4th Michele Campbell book I've read and while I did enjoy it, I do tend to find her books a little too predictable for me. Tabitha is a small town girl living pay check to pay check as a waitress when Connor Ford walks back into her life. Connor had walked out years ago when they'd had a summer fling, but now he is back and wants to rekindle their love affair. The problem, is that he's married to the rich and powerful Nina Levitt. Connor swears he plans to divorce Nina but due to a prenup there may be some difficulty doing that because it would leave him with nothing. Until Nina's body is found the day after her 4th of July party floating in her pool. Everything points to suicide, except the note that Nina wrote the night before implying that if something were to happen to her, it was at the hands of her husband and "her". But who is "her"? Is it Tabitha or is Connor having an affair with yet another woman? I have to say 2 things... First, the title of this book is PERFECT because Nina really is the wife who knew too much. I mean, she knew EVERYTHING! It just took some time for us, the reader, to figure out what she already knew. Second, there is no way the title of this book could be referring to Tabitha. This woman is clueless! Maybe it's the "avid reader of psychological thrillers" in me that makes me doubt peoples' intentions but how could Tabitha have not seen a lot of this coming??? I found myself at times shaking my head that she was able to let Connor deceive her the ways he did, but maybe it's true what they say... love really is blind!

Great book. I did like the author’s previous book, It’s Always The Husband better, but this was still a good book. Got a bit confusing at times, going back in time but still a great suspense read.

I am giving this book 3.5 stars, in my eyes, it was a good thriller I was just expecting a bit more. This book comes in at around 350 pages (kindle edition) and I felt like I was skipping over some parts in the middle to get to the end to find out what happened. The first 100 pages or so had me hooked. We learn of a high profile death and then we jump into a whole different narrative and follow Tabitha who has a unique connection to the recently deceased. As mentioned, the middle chunk was just alright for me, but the ending really had me hooked on again! The clever twist at the end brought me fully on board.

I felt no real connection to Tabitha, and feel like this was one of the reasons why I wasn’t fully captivated. At times I found her a tad selfish and didn’t understand the thought process behind many of her decisions. !!!(SPOILER)!!! At one point, we find out that Tabitha is pregnant and in the next chapter find out she has married Connor who was the husband of Nina who was murdered.

Ultimately I think this is great if you’re looking for a fast/light read (perfect vacation read), we are left with a twist at the end that left me shocked. I’m glad I was given the chance to read it, and know that many readers will LOVE it!

This was the first Michele Campbell book. I've read and it was pretty well done. It was written in a 3rd person POV and there were some timeline jumps that caught me by surprise a couple times, but for most part, it was a smooth read. The main protagonist is Tabitha, a 30-year-old waitress who 'runs into' her summer fling from 13 years before. Still handsome, he still has the power to sweep her off her feet and they renew their relationship. Of course, he is actually married to one of the wealthiest women in the world, not a lifestyle he wants to give up.
I originally thought the title referred to the wealthy wife, Nina Levitt, but now that I've finished (*small spoiler), I realize that Tabitha may be the titular character. There were several twists and turns - another reviewer mentioned that she just couldn't like any of the characters, and I have to agree. By the end of the book, I was emotionally drained, like spending the whole day in a counseling session! I'd certainly recommend this book as a good summer read.

This book gripped me from the first page. While the ending was a bit messier than I would prefer, overall I truly enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and kept my interest and I will be recommending it to everyone.

Thank you, Netgalley for the ARC.

Very enjoyable read with suspense and intrigue. What wife does not know too much? Tying in all the "players" was a nice touch!

Thank you to Netgalley for providing an arc of this book!

The main character, Tabitha Girard, is waitressing one night when a past boyfriend, Connor Ford, comes back into her life. Tabitha has never really been able to get over him and considers him the great love of her life. Tabitha is devastated to hear that Connor is married (unhappily) to a rich older woman, Nina Levitt. Not long after their reunion, Nina commits suicide and Connor convinces Tabitha that she too is his one great love and she moves into Nina and Connor's estate. Only not everyone that knew Nina is happy about their sudden developing relationship. Suspicions start to arise that Connor could have possibly murdered Nina for her money and Tabitha begins to question if she really even knows who Connor is.

The first book I read by Michele Campbell was A Stranger on the Beach and I was so impressed that I couldn't wait to read this one. I was not disappointed, This book has my favorite reading style, with multiple viewpoints and the plot changes back and forth between past and present. This style of writing worked well for this book because it kept the plot fast-paced and held my interest. The plot included many false suspects and kept me guessing until the very end. Every time I thought I figured it out, there was another twist. The beginning was unexpected and drew me in right away. This is perfect for readers that like fast-paced, twisty thrillers about deceiving husbands and suspicious wives.

I enjoyed this book and trying to figure out who actually killed Nina. I did feel like the ending was wrapped up very quickly though.

Twisty, turny, glitzy and glamorous - what a great combination! The Wife Who Knew Too Much is a classic whodunit mystery full of intrigue right from page one: "I'm writing this to raise an alarm in the event of my untimely death. My husband is planning to kill me. For obvious reasons. He's in love with someone else. And he wants my money." Clues to the murder are dropped like bread crumbs throughout, leading to a thrilling conclusion.

I started reading Michele Campbell back in 2018 when I picked up It's Always the Husband. I found that one very addictive and so I couldn't wait to read her other books as they came out -- She Was the Quiet One and A Stranger on the Beach. I can't say that her thrillers have much of anything new in them, but they are very difficult to put down. This continues in her latest, The Wife Who Knew Too Much.

Long ago, Tabitha Girard and Connor Ford were an item. She worked at the pool at his country club, and he was just rich and handsome. They go their separate ways until, one day, Connor comes back into Tabitha's life as she is waiting tables. He is now unhappily married to filthy rich Nina but wants to stay in the marriage so he can get some of her money. Tabitha and Connor hook up, of course, and when Nina takes her own life, they seem to be free to be together....until the police begin to suspect Nina's death was the result of foul play.

The Wife Who Knew Too Much begins with Nina's diary account of right before she died. This hooks the reader right away. The ending fizzles out a bit, but as is usually the case with books by Michele Campbell, it is awfully fun to get there.

MY RATING - 3.5

Michelle Campbell’s “The Wife Who Knew Too Much” isn’t a book that you’ll easily put down. It has echoes of Sidney Sheldon at his best. It is much less predictable. I don’t know how to write a review that won’t give away ‘too much’ if I can borrow that from the title.
Nina Levitt is impossibly wealthy after her first husband’s death. The happiness she thought she found in her second marriage has soured as she announces on the first page. Nina believes her husband and his mistress intend to kill her. She writes this in a journal just hours before her 4th of July party begins. She is found dead on the 5th. Nina’s high profile life and wealth came with it’s own set of pitfalls. Was her death an accident, suicide, or murder? The younger husband Conner Ford has a lot to gain and a reputation that suggests he isn’t above using women to get ahead. Tabitha who has held a torch for Connor since the age of 17 knows this all too well. When they meet 13 years after their teenage summer fling she finds herself pulled into the drama and danger of Nina Levitt’s life.

The story of Nina,Tabitha and Connor Ford, the man they both love.

How far will you go to be wealthy? Nina's money dazzles everyone around her but only Tabitha doesn't value it above all else.

Plot twists keep an interesting fast pace.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I read it in less than a day, as it was difficult for me to put down. I just had to find out if my theory was correct, discern what actually happened, and what was truth and what was a lie. I enjoyed the writing style, switching at times to different perspectives but done so in a way that had you piecing things together on your own & wanting to find out (eagerly) if you were correct. Thank you for this arc, I look forward to more books by this author!
