Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for allowing me to read this ARC. It started out interesting so I was intrigued. I wasn't crazy about Tabitha, because she came off as very naive and immature, which was understandable when she was 17, but not so much when she was older. Connor was not likable at any age. But, the story was interesting. It kind of bogged down around chapter 30 but picked up again about ten chapters later.
Edge of the seat twists and turns keep the reader enthralled to the end ... Tabitha experiences her first love with Conner when she was a teenager and never forgot him ... a accidental meet up years later take them back to the heady romance they once had ... however Conner is now a married man to Nina a famous wealthy older lady who gives Conner a lifestyle he has grown accustomed to. This book unravels a great story and I read it in one sitting highly recommended
Thank you so very much to St. Martin's Press, NetGalley and the author, Michele Campbell for an early copy of this book, for an honest review.
Complete suspense from the word go on this new one from Michele Campbell. From the moment of Tabitha and Connor as children and being together and getting in trouble by his grandmother, to the very end, you never knew who was the ultimate 'bad' person, who was being screwed over, and who gave their all and for whom.
I was not disappointed at all by this new thriller, and I give huge Kudos for Michele Campbell, being able to keep me on my toes through out the whole book. I always have Michele Campbell on my TBR list, and this was one amazing read!! If I could give it 10 stars, I definitely would.
It's commonly known that summer flings come with an expiration date. They're supposed to fade out by the first day of school and years later, come to mind as a wistful memory. That's not the case with Tabitha Girard and Connor Ford, their teenage love extinguished by his wealthy, overbearing grandmother. Soon, he leaves for the summer and Tabitha, well, she continues to think about the one that got away. Over a decade later, he returns to her small hometown - older, richer, and unhappily married to Nina Levitt, a woman nearly twice his age. "Tabby cat, you're the one I really love," he tells her. "I'm just biding my time until Nina dies. We could be together in the open, ten million dollars richer." When Nina dies, well, they're in the free and clear. Or so Tabitha thinks. The thing she seems to forget is if they cheat with you, they'll cheat on you.
I breezed through this book because I wanted to see how it ended but there was something unappealing about this novel. Maybe Michele Campbell books aren't for me since I didn't enjoy "A Stranger On the Beach." There were certain actions that Tabitha committed that had me shaking my head and her whole innocent routine? She's one of the dumbest characters I've read about. I saw certain plot points coming from a mile away. The storyline had some potential but it wasn't fully fleshed out. Connor, the husband, is the easiest villain because of everything he has to gain from Nina's death.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this advanced reading copy. It's scheduled for publication on 07/28/2020. I hope others will enjoy this novel but it was not for me.
Tabitha is a waitress at a country club and she meets Connor who’s rich and good looking. Tabitha’s grandmother warns her to stay away from him. Connor does eventually leave her. Fast forward to present time, thirteen years later and Tabitha is working as a waitress trying to make ends meet when Connor comes walking into Tabitha’s restaurant. Tabitha is once against swept away and falls for Connor. However, Connor is now married to a woman who is very rich and famous. Then, the wife Nina is dead. Who killed the wife? Or was it a suicide? The first half of the book was excellent, the writing style did seem to change towards the end. Overall, I did enjoy this book and it was very fast paced. Michele Campbell’s books don’t disappoint.
Kept me on the edge of my seat! In true Michelle Campbell fashion - had me hunched over gripping each page wanting more more. Shocked when I learned I had it all wrong! Michelle Campbell did it again!!
After reading Michele Campbell's two most recent books The Wife Who Knew Too Much and A Stranger On the Beach, I know I can count on her books to provide a fast-paced, crazy escape from reality. I am quickly becoming a big fan of Michele Campbell's writing.
The Wife Who Knew Too Much grabbed me right from the beginning, and really never slowed down. The story begins with an omimous diary entry written by Nina, who is married to Connor, but then quickly turns to our main character, Tabitha, Connor's summer love from long ago. This book has it all: romance, stalking, murder, kidnapping, bad decisions, and lots of wealth.
The narration shifts easily from past to present, and the story is told mostly in the voice of Tabitha in the present, but sometimes through Nina's diary or an omniscient narrator when we're diving into Nina's past.
The characters are fun and flawed. They make bad choices, get into trouble, fall too deeply in love, trust the wrong people...and it works so well in this book.
During the course of The Wife Who Knew Too Much, I changed my mind several times about what I thought really happened. In the end, I had things party figured out, but not entirely. The ending was mostly satisfying, although I did come away with a couple of unanswered questions.
The Wife Who Knew Too Much does require some suspension of disbelief. I say, just lean into it and enjoy the story. Step into the world of over-the-top wealth combined with a long-lost first love, and see how fun this book is.
Thank you to NetGalley, author Michele Campbell, and publisher St. Martin's Press for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Michele Campbell did not disappoint with this book!!
It’s a total guessing game from start to finish of “whodunnit” and I LOVED IT!
I was torn between cheering for the main characters and then questioning them all at the same time.
I literally was so sad when it ended because it reads like a movie! I could picture every scene perfectly and every character was so convincing! I mean, what single girl doesn’t dream of an old flame walking back into their life, sweeping them off their feet, and moving them into luxury?!
This probably ranks up there as my favorite Michele Campbell book and was a perfect read to get me through this quarantine! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book sucked me in from the very beginning. I really liked the premise of this story. This was a quick, engaging read. The biggest drawback to me was the main character. I just couldn’t connect with Tabby. I didn’t love how she so easily jumped in with both feet with Connor, but I know that was needed to get the book going. It just felt kind of juvenile- almost like something I would see in a YA book. I do look forward to reading more by this author in the future!
Another fantastic book by Michelle Campbell. This book kept me hooked right from the beginning. This author knows how to draw the reader in and keep them interested. She knows how to develop the characters to the point where the reader can either love them or hate them. With this book, the main character remained naive throughout the book but yet exhibited strength when needed. She (Tabitha) fell in love with Conner who was wealthy growing up and then in his married life to Nina Levitt. For me, I never warmed up to him until the very end. I didn’t trust him and that’s exactly why I love this author with her way of putting her heart and soul into these characters.
I’m definitely looking forward to reading more of her books.
A twisty tale full of love, sex, money and betrayal!
Tabitha is poor girl waitressing at the country club when she meets the rich and handsome Connor. They begin a steamy teenage love affair that consumes them both. However, it ends tragically due to clashing class differences. Fast forward thirteen years, and Tabitha is still a struggling waitress while Connor has married an extremely wealthy and powerful woman. When their paths cross again all these years later, their feelings for each other are still just as strong. Only problem? Connor is still married! When his wife tragically dies from an apparent suicide it seems as though the star crossed lovers will finally get their happily ever after. But could it really all be that easy? Of course not! The mystery begins when Tabitha finds the diary of Connor's late wife.
This is a well written story with engaging characters.
For me, personally, it was a little too sentimental. (What can I say...I'm just cold hearted!)
Overall, though, great read.

This is a gripping read that builds upon it’s story and ups the suspense from the get-go. Tabitha is thrilled to see the love of her life walk back into her life years later while she works in a restaurant. She already knows he’s married to a famous, rich woman. After starting an affair, his wife dies, Tabitha marries him, and it should be perfect bliss...except for the fact that he might have been responsible for his wife’s death.
There are plenty of twists along the way of this read, and I was highly absorbed as things got crazier and crazier. Some of the characters were so despicable, but that’s par for the course in these types of novels, right? The ending was a bit beyond belief, but I really enjoyed this overall. I look forward to the author’s next suspense novel.

Thank you to #Netgalley and @StMartinsPress for an advanced copy of The Wife Who Knew Too Much.
I've been finding it difficult to get into books the last couple weeks due to some anxiety and I fell right into this one with no problems at all. In fact I couldn't put it down. A quick and easy read was exactly what I needed to break my funk.
This is my second Michelle Campbell book and she just keeps getting better.
Tabitha and Conner fell in love as teenagers and now haven't seen each other in years. He's married to a wealthy and famous woman who is much older than him. Tabitha still lives in the same small town and is a waitress trying to escape some bad choices. Then Connor shows up at her restaurant and sparks fly once again. Little does Tabitha know that Connors martial status will be the least of her worries in the upcoming months.
The first half of the book was fantastic. The second half was a little all over the place but still enjoyable. 4 stars.
First the positives: this book is really easy to get into and keeps your attention. The negatives: I strongly dislike sex scenes in books even if they aren't too explicit. I found the main character Tabitha immature and very teenagerish. I'm sorry this book just did not work for me. Thank you to St. Martin's press and Netgalley for providing this ARC.
This is my first Michele Campbell book and I can certainly see why she is a popular thriller author. I was drawn immediately into the story from the first pages and found the entire novel to be propulsive and compelling at every turn. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, BAM, another twist. I loved the continual twists and turns that kept me breathlessly turning the pages.
Campbell keeps you guessing until the very end. Every chapter had me changing my mind and wanting to read further and further in this classic "who dun it" book. Wealthy Nina Levitt dies mysteriously after writing a diary entry. Who can you trust? Who had their hands dirty? Who wanted her millions? Was it her too young husband? You must read to find out. A suspense drama that is impossible to put down will have you page turning until you are finished.
The Wife Who Knew Too much was excellent. It had suspense, fun and mystery in every chapter. It pulled me in from page 1. An ending I didn’t see coming kept me reading.
A haunting thriller with several story lines that all come together for a stunning finale. Realistic characters bring the story to life and add mysterious notes to this lovely novel.
3,5 stars
This was an interesting story that gave me a few hours of reading that made me forget the woes of the world while I concentrated on the woes of our main protagonist, Tabitha Girard. Poor Tabitha, a struggling waitress, left years ago by her one true love, Connor Ford. However, one day as fate would have it, who strides into the dinner where Tabitha works but Connor. They immediately reconnect, each pledging their undying love that never went away from all those years ago. There is one tiny problem though for Connor is married to an enormously wealthy woman, Nina, and smart as she is, she has an ironclad prenup agreement where if Connor leaves her or is unfaithful, he doesn't get a dime.
And then once again fate intervenes and when Tabitha finds herself pregnant and Connor not exactly responsive to her, she seeks him out at the Ford's massive estate in Southampton at a Fourth of July gala. Unfortunately, Tabitha's ex husband is also on Tabitha's trail so he too winds up at the party, unwanted guest as he an Tabby are and things get very interesting as later Nina is found drowned and thought to have committed suicide. Things get complicated, messy, and definitely convoluted.
There are times I have found when you want to jump inside the pages of a book and shake some sense into one of the characters. That was me with Tabitha. She missed so many clues, so many things that ensured she would be set up as a patsy for the death of Nina.
This story was pure escapism for me. It was flighty enough to keep me going and given the times we are living in, flighty and illogical stories might just fit the bill for many of us.
Thank you to Michele Campbell, St Martin's Press, and Net Galley for a copy of this book.
Lost love, reconnections, betrayal and murder make for good read. Nina is richer than rich and married to Connor. Tabitha is Connor’s teenage love. Nina takes her own life and Tabitha and Connor can finally be together. We get different POVs including opening up with Nina’s diary which sucks you in right away. An engaging read that kept me hooked throughout.
Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the arc.
