My copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. My thanks to the the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review it.
As a huge fan of other works by this author, I was excited to read this book. That excitement, however, did not last very long. After a promising first couple of chapters, this devolved into a cheesy, pseudo thriller with one dimensional characters, and plot twists that were obvious from the beginning. I’m giving this one an extra star because I know Ms Campbell can do so much better than this.
Money can’t buy you love, and what’s money without love........dangerous! Yet another amazing read from Michelle Campbell! was hooked from the first page to the very last, the closer I got to the end the more I was on the edge of my seat trying to finish it,Tabitha was working as a waitress in a bar when her teen lover walks in, now grown up, her feelings come flooding back, but he’s married to an extremely wealthy woman, will she have the happy ending she always dreamed of? Or will it be a huge mistake?
The further into the book you get the more twists unfold! couldn’t put it down! Looking forward to reading her other books ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Loved it!! Hooked from the very start. Love is definitely blind. Tabitha needs a walking stick and a seeing eye dog. Make that two seeing eye dogs. She seems to ignore every red flag that waves in front of her face. This was a great mystery/thriller. So many twists and turns. I wasn't sure who was behind Nina's death. Connor was my number one suspect, because isn't always the husband?! Plus it was hard to believe any of the words that came out of his mouth. Although the list of possible suspects was long, very long. Pretty much everyone in the book. They were all suspicious. Nina surrounded herself with so many liars, it was hard to trust any of them. Loved the story and writing style. None of the characters were my favorite. Pretty much they all got what they deserved, maybe not being killed. That's a little extreme. Tabitha, I really wanted to like, but she made it so hard. She was completely delusional or maybe just stupid. It was very easy to see how everything was going to go down and she fell for everything. I can't believe how she still felt for Connor at the end. I don't think Tabitha fully understands the meaning of innocent.
Definitely recommend the book and look forward threading more books by the author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from St. Martin's Press through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
The Wife Who Knew Too Much by Michele Campbell was thoroughly enjoyable if unrealistic (but that's sometimes the point of fiction, isn't it?!) I have been going through a period of starting books and stopping them after a few chapters when they failed to grab my attention or make me care about the characters. The Wife Who Knew Too Much kept me interested throughout. It was a little repetitive in the dialog, for example, when one of the main characters promises to stop interrupting and then keeps interrupting a dozen more times with the same promise to stop each time (word for word). I would characterize this book as a beach thriller, exciting, interesting, and empty headed ... like an decent action movie. Definitely good for taking your mind off things and just relaxing.
This book had me curious from the first page! Every step of the way, I was wondering who did what and why. There were quite a few twists and turns and at some points, I thought everyone was guilty. Lol. It was entertaining though!
The book was good, not great. Pretty obvious early on how it would roll. Loved the characters and development, but again, the conclusion was know early on. Not a favorite, but an ok read.
His was a fantastic and suspenseful mystery. It kept me on the edge of my seat. Just when you think you figured it out, along comes another clue
THE WIFE WHO KNEW TOO MUCH
BY MICHELE CAMPBELL
I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery by Michele Campbell called, "The Wife Who Knew Too Much," a lot more than I had expected that I would. It was an addictive page turning mystery by a writer who keeps getting better and better with each book. I had previously received an ARC of her previous book called "It's Always the Husband," and I know for sure that this new suspenseful novel raised the bar so much higher as both the story and the characterization. I was amazed at how much I liked this one so much more that I will say it is my favorite book that she has written to date. I flew through it reading at a fast pace and it seemed quite a bit shorter than 336 pages, which is always a good sign that I am loving the book.
Tabitha grew up from humble beginnings but was raised with good intentions by her grandparents. They instilled in her good morals and she might not have been rich but she was an honest teenager. She and a young man named Conner get together for a summer fling. He is visiting a tourist town in NH and is staying with his wealthy grandmother who is very snobby but has more money than Tabitha's family. The two of them are lovers from that long ago Summer when years later Conner shows up in the restaurant where Tabitha has a job as a waitress.
Conner tries to talk Tabitha into having a drink with him and she tells him she can't because she's working. He still has feelings for her and invites her to stay at a cabin with him for the weekend. He is unhappily married to a multi-millionaire named Nina and Conner tells Tabitha that he is going to leave his wife for her. When Tabitha gets pregnant from their weekend tryst she calls Conner but he never returns her call. Tabitha decides to drive to Conner and his wife Nina's mansion on the beach in the Hampton's in New York. She discovers that there is a huge 4th of July party that she has to sneak into because there are security guards and she doesn't have an invitation. She texts and repeatedly calls Conner to tell him about the baby but he doesn't respond.
Meanwhile Conner's wife Nina leaves a diary saying that she fears for her life and she wants to leave evidence that should she be murdered it is Conner and another woman who are to blame. Nina is murdered and Conner marries Tabitha four months later. He brings Tabitha to the mansion he shared with his former wife Nina and Tabitha is clearly out of her element. The mansion called Windswept is a palace and Conner leaves Tabitha alone and she seems to raise suspicions with Nina's personal assistant named Juliet who discovers Tabitha is pregnant. Tabitha also is afraid the head of Nina's security who is a man named Steve Kovacs will remember that Tabitha was on the premises the night of Nina's death which was ruled a suicide.
I didn't care for Tabitha at first but at this point I started to like her. I felt sorry for her living in her husband's ex wife's former home with a staff of people that she couldn't trust. I have said too much already but there is a lot more that happens in this mystery. Conner wants to inherit his late wife's fortune and he gets frustrated with Tabitha's innocent actions that raises suspicions about Nina's death. Who killed Nina? Was it Conner? Suddenly the police arrest Tabitha and she is being framed for Nina's murder. Tabitha is suspicious of everybody including Conner.
What follows is a fantastic mystery about who really killed Nina. I didn't suspect any of the many unlikely suspects or who murdered Nina. Everything is not what it seems. I think the author did a marvelous job at setting up the backstory of who really stood to gain from Nina's death. Is Tabitha really being framed? Is she a conspirator with someone else? This was a unique mystery about greed and how far a deranged person or more than one person is willing to do for financial gain. It really is deliciously unpredictable who the real culprits are and why, I absolutely loved this mystery and highly recommend this to fans of this genre. And again, this pleasantly surprised me how much I loved it. Happy Reading!

Thank you to NetGalley. I just finished this book IN A DAY! I literally could not put this book down. The first half of the book was fabulous. I felt the second half got a bit far fetched. I was also dissatisfied with the ending. Overall, it was a good, entertaining read. It is a great summer beach read!
Seventeen-year-old Tabitha met Connor and they had a romantic summer love affair. Thirteen years later, they meet again and although he is married, tabitha falls for him again. Connor is married to a wealthy older woman, Nina, and although she is extremely attracted to the younger man, she will not put up with extra marital affairs. She decides to start divorce proceedings. Connor has been riding high and enjoying all that money can buy.
Things begin to change when Tabitha gets pregnant and when several new characters are introduced into the story. Is Connor only interested in Nina's money? It is a difficult book to put down as the action begins to accelerate and as long held secrets are revealed The Wife Who Knew Too Much is easy to read, well written and intense, written in first person from Tabitha's viewpoint. It is a very enjoyable tale that will keep readers on the edge of their seat until the final chapter.
Thank you Net Galley for providing this ARC for review.
The Wife Who Knew Too Much was fantastic -- a fun, escapist read and exactly the kind of book I was in the mood for right now. I became completely absorbed from the first page and didn't want to put it down until I was finished. It could have been considered a little far-fetched in some ways, but that is precisely what made it so enjoyable. For anyone who loved Ms. Campbell's A Stranger on the Beach, as I did, you won't be disappointed by this one.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for providing me with an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
This wasn't a bad story as far as being able to mentally escape from the world for a few hours of reading, but it's hard to really like a book when you don't like the characters. None of them were worth rooting for and some were downright annoying. Maybe that is what made the story work as well as it did to keep my attention.
Poor waitress runs into the one love of her life, who is driving a Lamborghini, of course. He's married to a woman worth an enormous amount of money, jet-setter lifestyle, executive job, but of course the waitress is the one he always wanted so why not divorce rich wife. Prenup? Of course, so he has to be careful not to get caught cheating on the wife in order to claim at least $10 million.
The wife is on to him and has a photo to prove he has cheated and is in fear that he will kill her. How the whole situation gets resolved as some expected twists. Pet peeve of mine: as an attorney, the legal representation and hearings were so poorly done, I would have fired the client and sent the attorney back for more training in how to handle a hearing. It annoyed me enough that I would give this a high 2 star rating for escapism, but not for the content.
Thank you NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest opinion.
When the wealthy band prestigious Nina is found dead by suicide, her husband, Conner is free to go return to his long lost love, Tabitha. As they begin to settle into their new life of fortune, Nina’s cause of death is called into question. When the case is reopened, no character can be deemed innocent. Everyone has something to gain from Nina’s death- but who did it?
I really loved this book! I felt like the story was different from your average domestic thriller.. There is no time wasted jumping into action! The groundwork and background for the characters and their storylines were laid out while the action was ensuing. I really appreciate a book that can give me information I need without wasting time on background fluff. This book is full of potentially unreliable characters and that made it so much fun! I didn’t have the ending figured out until the curtain was dropped right before my eyes, as intended.
Michele Campbell’s latest book, The Wife Who Knew Too Much, is a suspense novel grounded in a few clichés: a teenage romance doomed by differences of family social strata (Connor Ford is an excellent rich guy name), a wealthy widow marrying a gorgeous younger man (complete with prenup containing a morality clause), and the ostentatious glamour of locales like the Hamptons and Dubai. Despite this fact (or perhaps due to this fact), I breezed through The Wife Who Knew Too Much in one sitting.
I should note that I did have to turn my lawyer brain off while reading this (And come on, Michele! You’re a former NY prosecutor! Murder in Southampton=Suffolk County Jail, not Rikers, and Bedford Hills—well, the state one—doesn’t hold non-sentenced prisoners, right? And prior crimes almost never admissible? LOL, I wish). Perhaps I’m being nitpicky about those, but here’s my biggest beef: how does Nina, a sophisticated woman who goes to such great lengths to protect her fortune and investigate suspicions about her husband and others involved in her life, not have a will prepared?
If you can get past that, though, you’ll find there’s scheming, love, lust and revenge with plenty of satisfying twists to the mystery.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for letting me read an advance copy in exchange for my honest review. Also, much gratitude to Michele Campbell for her effort and generosity; I look forward to reading her next book.

Tabitha Girard has never gotten over her long-ago summer fling with Connor Ford. And when he unexpectedly comes back into her life, it only takes an instant for her love to take hold once again. Connor, married and unhappy, tells Tabby she’s the only one he’s ever truly loved.
And when Connor’s wife, Nina, commits suicide, they can finally be together. But Tabitha’s completely unprepared for the ending to her fairy-tale romance that places her in the world of the uber-rich and famous. She soon discovers the people she thought she knew, including Connor, are keeping dark secrets and when the ruling of Nina’s death changes from suicide to murder, will Tabitha discover that she’s only at Windswept to serve as the convenient suspect?
A strong sense of place anchors this compelling narrative filled with unforeseen twists that are certain to change everything readers think they know about what’s actually happening. The characters are well-drawn and believable, but there are times naïve Tabitha’s cringe-worthy choices will draw screams of frustration from readers.
With the majority of the story told from Tabitha’s point of view, the mystery holds together well and while astute readers may identify a person of interest along the way, there are surprising reveals that, as the story unfolds, promise to take readers in unexpected directions.
There’s love, passion, betrayal, and underhanded machinations in the telling of this quick-read tale. But it’s the underlying whisper of menace throughout the story that will keep those pages turning.
Highly recommended.

Not my favorite from this author but overall a good book. Slow moving at times but otherwise enjoyable.
It should come as no surprise that another book by Michele Campbell is getting a raving 5 star review from me.
I was a little nervous coming into The Wife who Knew too Much, simply because A Stranger on the Beach was good, but not soul sucking good like her other works.
I’m happy to report TWWKTM is right back on track with the soul sucking. I was HOOKED from the very first sentence. I actually sent it to my good friend saying “finally, a book to suck me in!”
Michele Campbell really took me for an emotional ride in this book, from suspecting Connor, loving Connor, hating Connor, to just not knowing how to feel about him and all the way back again. He was a presence that lingered, even when he wasn’t the forefront of the story.
I felt a lot of different feelings for Nina Levitt as well- the wife whose journal entry we enter the book with. I doubted her, thought she was kinda stupid, and loved her. At the end of the day she’s another character that wasn’t a huge presence, but incredibly impactful.
Now for Tabitha, that girl put me through the ringer! My goodness. Towards the end of the book, especially, home girl was giving me anxiety. More than once I had to put the book down and take deep breaths because I wanted to scream at her- like girl WHAT are you doing?!
The plot I found to be fresh, and unique in a way only Michele Campbell seems to be able to make happen.
This tale is enthralling, addicting, and somewhat anxiety inducing. I spent the whole book being unsure who to trust, questioning who was lying, and praying things worked out in a favorable manor.
I highly suggest The Wife who Knew too Much! It will release July 28, 2020; and I hope you run to preorder your copy!
Perfect, unpredictable twists that I didn’t see coming and thoroughly enjoyed. This book had me hooked from the very beginning. I’ll for sure be recommending this to friends and family!
This one gripped me from the start!!!
I loved her book Stranger on the Beach
I was immediately pulled into Nina's diary logs. What a good read! I couldn't put this down.!
I was really excited to read this book. I was hooked at the beginning with Anna but I quickly fell apart. It was like a romance novel for young teens. The style of writing was not for me. The ending was predictable.
