I received an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review
This one was pretty twisty- some more obvious than others but still an enjoyable ride. 3.5 rounded up.
Well, bravo to Michelle Campbell for supplying a fantastic domestic thriller. The plot is fast paced and set to elicit just the right amount of intrigue. The reader is easily absorbed into the storyline from the first sentence to the last. It is hard not to feel every twist and turn Campbell takes right in the center of your chest. Loved it!
Thank you to #NetGalley for the ARC of #TheWifeWhoKnewTooMuch, which was read and reviewed voluntarily by @wayward _readers
The Wife Who Knew Too Much is the latest book by Michele Campbell. As with all of Ms Campbell's stories The Wife Who Knew Too Much is a page turner with edge of your seat moments. I'm looking forward to the next read by this author. I want to thank Net Galley and St Martin's Press for an early copy of this book to review.
This was the first book by Michele Campbell that I had read & now I can’t wait to read the rest. This book was quick to catch my attention & continued to do so throughout the whole book. The chapters were fairly short which I like & the story was very fast paced & I never felt like it was dragging anything out. This book has everything you need to be successful in my opinion.
Well, this book did not turn out like I thought it would. I have really enjoyed It's Always the Husband, but I feel like a completely different author wrote The Wife Who Knew Too Much. And unfortunately I did not enjoy it.
The beginning of the book was great, I was sucked in the minute Nina started with her desperate letter. And then once you a bit deeper into Tabby's story it just falls apart. The writing leaves much to desire and I feel like Connor and Tabby's relationship is extremely childish, sophomoric at best. They just do not act or converse like grown adults do.
I really hope this book just didn't work for me and I'm in the minority. I will definitely pick up another book by Michele and give her another try, but obviously this one did not work for me.
"I'm writing this to raise an alarm in the event of my untimely death. This is hard to admit, even to myself. For obvious reasons. He's in love with someone else. And he wants my money."
With an opening like that you just know you're about to embark on a wild and crazy ride.
While working a summer job at a local country club during her teen years, Tabitha falls hard for Connor. But they come from different sides of the track, so his grandmother forbids their relationship and their romance fizzles out.
Fast forward to many years later when Connor walks into the restaurant where Tabitha works. Life hasn't been kind to her , but he's still as rich and gorgeous and she remembers him. They quickly realize there are still fireworks between them. But... Connor is married to Nina, a beautiful, wealthy, powerful woman. And well, if you want to know what happens next, then you must read The Wife Who Knew Too Much.
This is my third Michele Campbell book, and I really enjoy her writing, which I often find to be rather thrilling and gripping. However, I felt like the timeline in this book was a bit choppy and there was time/information missing that could have been useful or helpful. The plot starts out strong, but slows down rather steadily as the story progresses. Also, Tabitha and Connor are not at all likable characters. For adults, the amount of terrible decisions they make is ridiculous. Tabitha is incredibly naive and Connor is a colossal asshole. Honestly, I struggled to understand what Tabitha sees in him and why she loves him so much. Did I mention he's an asshole?! And the two of them together, well... they made me roll my eyes more times than I care to admit.
Overall, I found this book entertaining and it kept me coming back, but it wasn't my favorite from this author. However, I will look forward to her next book with much anticipation.
Special thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and the author for sending me an electronic ARC in exchange my honest review.
I enjoyed this book. It was fun to switch back and forth between Nina's voice and the main character, Tabitha, I will say that the ending didn't really come together for me. I ended the book still feeling like Connor was sneaky and shady even though he's supposed to be innocent. Also, the link between Gloria and her daughter could have been developed a bit more. I would have liked some conversations between Gloria and Tabitha after the diary was read. And it seems unrealistic for Nina to be able to write about her murder in a drugged state right before her murder. She could barely walk and know where she was but she could write in a journal? Also I thought Derek would make another appearance. He was developed in the beginning but then never became a key player after that at all. The book was good but there were some holes. Like It's always the Husband better but i still enjoyed it!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! No spoilers. Beyond amazing I enjoyed this book so very much. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Could not put down nor did I want to. Truly Amazing and appreciated the whole story. This is going to be a must read for many many readers. Maybe even a book club pick.
The Wife Who Knew Too Much is about a woman named Tabitha who has a unforgettable romance in her teenage years with a boy out of her league. She never forgets him. They are reunited many years later by chance. He is already married to a fabulously rich woman. When that woman turns up dead, Tabitha gets thrown into that rich and crazy world. The death is ruled a suicide to start but eventually police believe she was murdered. It is up to Tabitha to clear her and her husband’s names. There are many twists and turns in this book which made it very hard to put down. The writing was fantastic. I wouldn’t expect any less from Michele Campbell. The story was written beautifully and all loose ends are tied up by the end of it. I would 100% recommend to anyone who loves a good mystery.
An incredibly entertaining book! This story begins with a diary entry from Nina Levitt, a millionaire who runs Levitt Global Enterprises. In her diary, Nina expresses her fear of losing her life, Connor, her husband has had suspicious behavior in recent days. The next day, Nina launches a party at her house where several of her friends attend. Shortly after the party ends, Nina appears lifeless in the pool of her home. The police arrived immediately, they started a thorough investigation, among the suspects, is Tabitha, a girl with whom Connor befriended a long time ago. A few days before Nina's death, Connor coincidentally reunited with Tabitha. Connor and Tabitha share a mysterious past who might be connected to Nina. The police's challenge will be to identify the true murderer of this terrible crime. An incredible story that intrigued me all the time, which I enjoyed to the fullest. It is a thriller that describes Tabitha Ford very well, she was my favorite character because she is an enigmatic girl, who has not had an easy life but has somehow been able to earn her own money and be independent. This is a book that I definitely recommend. I thank NetGalley and St Martin's Press for providing me with the book in an exchange for a review.
This book was entertaining, don't get me wrong. It was an easy and quick read that kept my attention and kept me turning the pages... That being said, the twists and turns were wholly predictable. Worst of all? The plot could not have been more unrealistic! I absolutely love a good twist but I just can't get on board a story that is so unbelievable.
Not my first Michele Campbell and won't be my last. Will definitely give her another chance in hopes that she reins it in just a little.
Hooked from the start. Heart racing. Dinner was late because I needed to finish it. My kind of book. I would have given it more stars but the ending let the wind out.
This is my 3rd book by Michele Campbell and holy cow, you've got to pay close attention so you don't get lost (or at least I did). I found myself getting a bit confused but I kept pushing onwards. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review.
I was really looking forward to reading Michelle Campbell’s new novel, The Wife Who Knew Too Much.
This one immediately sucked me in and I knew I wouldn’t be doing much until I was able to finish this. The story starts off from the wife’s perspective, Nina and then quickly shifts to setting up the backstory between Tabby and Connor. I loved the sweet history we learned between them that they shared as young teenagers. Shortly after that, the story takes off and it just seems like one bad decision after another between Connor and Tabby’s actions, sometimes it felt a little over the top but it just become like a train wreck that you just can’t take your eyes off. Nina’s perspective comes into play more so later in the book and adds interesting twists. Michele Campbell is definitely one of my automatic read authors and I really enjoyed this one. This will be a great summer read as it’s easily readable and has a propulsive plot to keep you reading.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Summary:
Tabitha Girard had a summer romance when she was a teenager with a rich, handsome local boy named Connor Ford.
Years later, Tabitha has recovered from a failed and tumultuous marriage, and she is now trying to get her life together by holding down a waitress job. One day Connor walks in while she is waitressing, and Tabitha falls in love again when she sees him. Tabitha knows all about his famous marriage to an older, wealthy woman.
After Connor’s wife takes her own life, he tells Tabitha that they can finally be together. It is just like a soap opera with a happy ending for Tabitha. She finally has money, a handsome husband, and a beautiful home. But is it really a happy ending?
My Thoughts:
Michele Campbell is one of my favorite authors! I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book will be out June 9, 2020, and I definitely think this will be a hit novel for the summer of 2020. It has everything a great summer novel should have: scandal, romance, wealth, and mystery!
Make sure you pick up a copy in June!!

Connor is married to the wealthy Nina, but then he suddenly appears back into the life of a past flame, Tabitha, and they reconnect. And then, as fate would have it, Nina commits suicide, allowing Connor to be with Tabitha and make her his new wife. But did Nina really commit suicide?
Tabitha is taken on a roller coaster ride through the whole book, and it’s a totally thrilling one! She is rushed into moving into the huge house and life of the deceased Nina, with no way to know who to trust.
It was superbly interesting reading from both of the wives of the mysteriously wealthy Connor Ford’s POV’s and I loved, loved, loved this book! It totally gripped me from the first few pages and kept me reading.
The author quotes a proverb at the end of the being acknowledgements and it is just perfect • “When you run with the wolves, don’t trip.”
Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s and Michele Campbell for this super fun ARC!
Thank you #Netgalley for the advanced copy of the book!
Wow! This one kept you on your toes throughout the whole book! This was a very fast paced read following the lives of Connor, Tabitha and Nina. Though I may not have agreed with Tabitha's actions, I enjoyed the plot twists and characters.
Do you ever really know someone? I loved the beginning of this thriller when Connor and Tabitha were young and in love from opposite social strata at their small New England country club. While I enjoyed the twists and turns this took, it got slightly muddled at the end. Nonetheless it was a page turned and I could not put it down.
Don’t ALL women know too much :). This was a fantastic story that spanned a couples history (even if they weren’t really a couple growing up), and shows that sometimes time makes memories happier and more joyful than the real day to day time spent together. A really great and quick read - highly recommend!
Nina Levitt finds herself in a quandary. Since her husband had passed away, she was now in charge of the Levitts Global. She was getting ready for her usual yearly Fourth of July Party. It seemed to be going very well, when she noticed a very handsome charismatic young man speaking with Lauren, the head of her PR Department. Lauren introduced her to Conner. Conner escorted Nina to the bar. They received their drinks and walked on the beach. Nina was worried what her guests would think about the age difference between her and Conner. Eventually they married. Nina was smart enough to do a prenup before they were married. Is Conner a gold digger? Everyone thinks he is. There seems to be more to Conner than what Nina knows. Conner finds his girlfriend, Tabitha, from many years ago in New Hampshire. They begin to see each other again. Will Nina find out that he’s cheating on her already? Will she divorce him because of the prenup? Will Conner tell Nina about his live for Tabitha, or will he continue to use Nina for all her wealth, the yacht, the jet, the helicopter, and the grand life of wealth? Nina trust her staff? She’s not sure if she can. How does Tabitha fit into his life? What’s Tabitha’s secret? Will she be able to tell Conner her secret? Will her secret destroy the love they’ve found all over again? Will Nina find out about Conner and Tabitha’s relationship? How will this affect Nina’s and Conner’s marriage. How will this affect Conner’s Executive position at Levitt Global? The plot really evolved quickly in this book. Every time I thought I had it figured out, the author would change course. What a roller coaster ride this book was. There is even a hint of suicide or could it be murder? The author’s writing style was great. The plot was easy to follow, and the description of the locations, made it very real for the reader. This book was definitely a psychological thriller for sure. There were so many twists and turns to keep the readers total attention. I loved the way she weaved the character development throughout the story. The ending was definitely not what I expected; it was even better than I had imagined. I don’t want to spoil this book for anyone, you will not be disappointed if you read this book. I will be looking forward to the next book, that’s for sure.
