The Wife who knew too much

I’ve read other books by Michele Campbell and enjoyed the edginess of her storylines but you have to indulge your sexy-romance side with her books. This plot pivots on two women’s “absolute” love and devotion of the protagonist and if you’re a skeptic like me, it can be hard to swallow at certain moments. At times you want to yell at the page : are you blind? But of course they are, and this allows the crimes and the plot to move forward, while the details entertain our imagination. As the plot thickens and our young female protagonist digs herself in deeper, there is hope that it could go her way, but that’s not how domestic thrillers go, is it? She’s immediately set upon by all the enemies, and we clench our jaws and fists for her; at the same time her and Connor act like children caught in an adult game. In the end, it all comes down to “who dunnit”.... the husband? The personal assistant? Maybe the yoga teacher or the bodyguard...hold on, there’s plenty of twists and turns before you find out!

Warning: do not start this book with the intention of just reading a few pages and going to bed. You won’t be able to. This book is so engrossing and yet so easy to read that you get sucked in. You just keep turning page after page after page till you are the end and it is way way past the time you intended to sleep.
Now about the book. In the beginning it is clear that while people think Nina married for money that was not the case. However why she stayed in a marriage with a man like Edward is hard to understand. It seems that after that she was married to a man after her money. We don’t learn too many details about her reasoning but there is enough in there to make you wonder about her. The other main actors in this plot are Connor, Tabitha, Lauren, Hank, Juliet, Gloria and Steve. As you go on reading you start assessing each of them and wonder who is to blame for everything that is going on and how they are connected. You may have some good guesses but its not that easy to decode the plot. It is a very well crafted plot and while you may actually figure out the angle by the 60% mark or so, you will still want to keep reading to know if you got it right or not. That again is a testament to the writing style. It is so easy to follow and inviting that you just want to keep reading. Despite being able to guess things you will get some surprises because the plot is twisty. As you start to read more and the plot starts to open up you will realize that there was a lot of information provided in bits and pieces that would have allowed you to figure many things out from the start but again much credit to the author for writing in such a beautiful flow that you don’t want to interrupt the flow of reading to even figure out the plot. You just want to read.
I give it 4 stars, only because it was a plot where some twists could be figured out. Otherwise it would be a 5 star read. Don’t miss this one.

This is a book that sucks you in right away as you start reading Nina's diary and discover that she believes her husband is going to kill her. Her body is found shortly after she wrote that last diary entry... although it is determined to be a suicide.

We then jump to Tabitha's story about a month prior to Nina's death. Tabby is a waitress just trying to get by when her long lost love, Connor comes back in to her life. They pick up where their love left off over a decade ago, but unfortunately he's married to Nina Levitt and does not want to divorce her without losing millions. Tabitha becomes lost in her love for Connor. But does she also get caught up in the death of Nina? What really happened to her?

This book had so many twists, and was a fast-paced thriller. It was hard to determine who was good and who was bad and why, which kept me guessing about what really happened to Nina.

Thanks to NetGalley and St.Martin Press for providing me with ARC.
This novel is so good and full of thrill , i can't put it down.
I finished this novel in a record time because i want to know what will happen in the end.
The Author made a great job by formulating events and making the reader doubt the credibility of all the characters.
The characters are amazing, i am felling sad for Nina because she trusted everyone around her but they disappaointed her specially Juliet.
Tabitha ooh Taby, no one in this life can take lessons for free but i hope this time she can learn.
The last chapters are crazy as hell, i really enjoyed them.
The cover is amazing and full of excitement, i loved it because the cover is a big part from the novel, if it not good, don't excpect people to look at the novel or give it any attionation.
This the first novel to me by Michele Campbell but will not be the last, i heard alot about her pervious novel * A stranger on the Beach* but don't have the chance to read it.

I have read books by Michele Campbell before, but wow, this may be the best yet. I could not put it down. I was definitely shocked by the ending, too, which I really enjoy. I was cheering for Tabitha, who seemed like the underdog, and I never really liked Connor, but found myself cheering for him too.

Thank you to Net Galley for the ARC for my honest review.

Wow. This book held my interest and I was able to read it in a day. I really enjoy this author, she keeps you on your toes and keeps the story moving. Connor and Tabitha meet one summer and fall in love. Family comes between them and they end their relationship. Years later, Connor who is married to a very wealthy woman runs into Tabitha and they reunite. What is Connor going to do? He is married and stands to gain money from the woman he is married to. After an big party, his Wife, Nina, is dead, and now Tabitha and Connor can be together! What really happened to Nina that night? Was Connor responsible for her death? Was it an accident? This story has a lot of twists and turns and was somewhat predictable, but nonetheless, it was still a great read! Thank you to St. Martin’s Press for the ARC. Thanks also to Net galley for providing it to me as well.

Michelle Campbell crafts a thriller that was impossible to put down(I read this book in one day!). The Wife Who Knew Too Much follows Tabitha as she reconnects with her first love ---who is already married---and struggles to figure out how best to proceed. Tabitha and Connor end up married after his wife mysteriously dies, but everything unravels soon after, and Tabitha is framed for murder. The plot kept me guessing, and ultimately Campbell constructed characters whose lives were connected in so many ways. Overall, one of my favorites books of 2020 so far!

You know a book is good when you can’t decide where your allegiances lie or what you’re hoping the outcome is. This book was like an onion, with new layers materializing as I turned each page.

Tabith spent one love filled summer with Connor until their families came between them. Since that time, she has never really felt any relationship has lived up to the one with Connor. It seems like it’s meant to be when Connor re-enters her life years later. Despite confessing his love for Tabitha, he is now married to an older, wealthy and controlling woman.

When that woman is found dead in her pool, Connor and Tabith can now be together with nothing and no one to stand in their way. Or can they? What unfolds next is daunting, creepy and will make you question everything you have decided about the characters in earlier chapters.

This book kept me guessing and I like to think I’m a regular ol’ Nancy Drew 🔎

It’s being published on June 9, 2020 and you should add it to your list of summer reads. Now that @michelecampbell is on my radar, her books will be an easy default purchase for me.

Tabitha has followed her heart to the man she loved as a teen, but it appears she may have bitten off more then she can chew. She has married into a life outside her comfort zone and more lavish then she has ever dreamed. She finds herself pregnant, and in the middle of being accused of murdering a women she has never met. How can she not begin to question everything she has been living. Questioning her husbands love, her life and how she is going to discover the truth.

his is a binge book! It's a fast paced binge worthy book. I started it last night thinking I'll just read for a bit then go to sleep 4 hours later I I finished it! The beginning of the book hooked me and I had to know what happened. The beginning starts out with a diary entry of Nina basically putting it out there that if she died unexpectedly that her husband was to blame. Then, the next morning she was found drowned.
The story follows Tabitha and has some flashbacks and chapters from Nina.
I loved this book, I couldn't put it down and the twist was much more sinister than I originally thought! It hooks you from the beginning and keeps you hooked till the end! This was a first for me by this author and I'm excited to check out her other books! Definitely recommend

Thank you so much to @NetGalley @MicheleCampbell and @St Martin’s press for allowing me to read this ARC early!

This book started off confusing me, but I think it was in a good way. I kind of felt off kilter as I read it, like I was trying to figure out what was going on, who was who, and how these stories were connected. I thought it was really interesting, because I misjudged characters that were introduced to me at the very beginning, and I think that is because I started to make assumptions solely on the order in which I got to see their perspective. I did really enjoy this thrilling story, and wasn’t 100% sure I had guessed the twists. I did find that I kept picturing the same scenery as A Stranger on the Beach, so the fact that I couldn’t come up with a whole new picture for this books setting knocked it down a little bit for me. I also felt that it resolved a little faster at the end than I would have liked, and I almost wished that it had that last page stunner that left you reeling. But I was really happy to read it early, and definitely am keeping Michele as a must buy author for my thriller shelves!

This book had so much promise. I couldn’t put it down...... UNTIL about 60% and then it just died. Like what the heck?!?! So disappointing! I almost DNF but I just kept thinking it has to pick back up, sadly it did not.

I was a huge fan of A Stranger on the Beach so I was SO excited to be approved for an ARC of The Wife Who Knew Too Much.

This one gripped me from the first page; I was immediately sucked into Nina's diary entry. I was equally absorbed by Tabitha and Conner's story, fascinated by the way their outrageous and shitty choices had domino effect after domino effect on other people. I will say though, that towards the end it did get predictable.

3.5*
A twisty story of love, second chances and oh yes, a hefty dose of betrayal!

Tabitha fell in love with Connor when she was just a teen. Young love, first love. Burning deeply. And poor Tabitha never quite got over it. So years later when Connor comes waltzing into the diner where she works, she feels that love-light still shining brightly. Can she recapture that passion she had? Can her dreams still come true? Well, there is one small problem.... Connor is married! Oops! In fact, he’s married to one of the wealthiest and highly regarded women in society. Oh, this can’t end well. Or will love conquer all and win out!?

I was ridiculously caught up in the first half of this book. Found it absolutely unputdownable! But then it very abruptly changed. The principal characters suddenly became quite unlikable. Or maybe they were all along...and I was just blinded by their actions. Well anyway...I now found it difficult to be on anyone’s side.

The ending was a bit messier than I would have liked, though it did provide plenty of twists.
Did it provide me with the five-star experience I thought I was going to have? Well...no. But still an overall good thriller that fans of Ms. Campbell will still enjoy.

A buddy read with Susanne!

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and Michele Campbell for an ARC to read and review.

Michele Campbell has the ability to pull her readers in from the very first sentence. She definitely does so with this novel. It is filled with suspense and intrigue. With each character development, you keep thinking you know exactly what is going on, but you probably don't. I enjoyed this book. I liked it better than A Stranger on the Beach.
