When I first started this one I was a bit put off by how naive the main character Tabby was. She was in love with Conner who all the sudden waltzes back into her life after years of being apart and the relationship having ended badly in the first place. Now he is married to the rich and beautiful Nina Levitt who winds up dead. The book kind of stalls a bit in the middle but the latter half did a great job with building tension and several twists started coming that I didn't see (including the ending). The funny thing is none of these characters were especially sympathetic or likable throughout the entire book but I really ended up enjoying it anyway. This is worth the read for suspense/thriller fans.

I did finish reading this so it wasn’t too awful. It was very predictable. I found no twists to make it exciting at all. None of the characters were likable. In fact the main character went from a strong, independent woman to a weak, codependent one simply by meeting a man who had been her teenaged boyfriend. He was an money hungry, overbearing, cheater who treated her worse than a dog but she “loved him.” By the end of the book I was hoping someone would kill them all.

I was so excited for this one as I’ve read all the author’s work. That makes this review hard to write because this book was a mess to me. By 50% in I was confused, and by 75% in I was dumbfounded.

The story that starts out did not fit the story that this book ended up being. It became way too far fetched in my opinion. I read a good deal of legal thrillers, and the scenes with lawyers/court proceedings in them were VASTLY misrepresented. I was in awe of how unrealistic things were portrayed, particularly how idiotic the protagonist was acting. We’re supposed to believe this woman had suffered hardship her entire life, but then couldn’t understand how the justice system gets things wrong? It didn’t feel true to the character we had spent so much time getting to know.

I’ll be honest, I skimmed the last ~20% because I lost interest. I’d give this author another shot, but again, what a bummer of a book.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book has given me so many different feelings. I feel so conflicted about a few aspects of the plot but overall, it's a pretty great read.
I wasn't a fan of the main character, Tabitha from the beginning. I disliked her the entire book and is probably one of the dumbest main characters I've ever read about. That being said, I doubt the entire plot would have been even remotely possible if the main character wasn't so gullible and dumb. It was often tedious to read from Tabitha's perspective but it wasn't bad enough that I wanted to quit reading.
I also was not a fan of Connor, obviously. From the the very beginning, we know him as a cheater and he blames his behavior on his wife, toxically painting Nina as the villain, thats she's responsible for his terrible behavior and cheating ways. There more about him that I hate but tom keep the review spoiler free, I won’t go into detail.
The choices him and Tabitha make individually and together are incredibly terrible and stupid but also made the book pretty engaging, similar to the way reality tv shows are engaging.
I really enjoyed reading from Nina's perspective. She was more interesting than Tabitha and Connor put together and I wish more of the book was from her perspective.
The plot twists were interesting and mildly surprising. The characters do lead you believe you know what happened and it's pretty impossible to not make the obvious assumptions.
The pace was actually really good, I was very impressed. It wasn't slow and I didn't think anything was rushed, even at the end. I read the whole book pretty quickly and I even looked forward to reading each time I picked the book up.
Overall, very impressive read. I didn't enjoy the main characters but that didn't take away anything from the reading experience. I really enjoyed Nina's perspective and the overall plot and pace was wonderful. I really enjoyed this book and since I read this as a digital copy, I look forward to the release so I can pick up a physical copy.

This book was great! Thank you #NetGalley for the advanced copy!

You meet Tabitha who doesn't come from a lot other than a lot of struggle & grew up in a small town who runs back into her rich entitled love from her past... then the snowball starts growing!

The story was interesting as well as the characters. A little bit of the middle was slow but the end had SO many twists & turns coming that even I - someone ridiculously good at guessing where things are going - didn't see coming!

I enjoyed this so much I definitely plan on looking into other books by Michele Campbell. I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style.

Oh wow. Michelle Campbell is back with a new thriller out june 2020. The only likeable character, Nina, dies in the 2nd chapter. I really could not stand any other characters, but that seems to be the brilliance of this book. I hated them all, but I couldn't put it down! I had to know who killed Nina. I'm giving it ⭐⭐⭐⭐. Thank you to netgalley and st martins press for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Wife Who Knew Too Much by Michelle Campbell was a fantastic and well-paced suspense novel that I KNOW you will love. I was looking forward to reading this and was not disappointed. From the first page, I was hooked and I couldn’t put it down. I typically read somewhat fast, and I flew through this novel quickly because I had to know what was going to happen, I thought I had it figured out but nope. I love when I’m wrong! When reading suspense, I want to be surprised and shocked!

The synopsis:

Tabitha Girard had her heart broken years ago by Connor Ford. He was preppy and handsome. She was a pool girl at his country club. Their affair should have been a summer fling. But it meant everything to Tabitha. Years later, Connor comes back into Tabitha’s life—older, richer, and desperately unhappy. He married for money, a wealthy, neurotic, controlling woman whom he never loved. He has always loved Tabitha.

When Connor’s wife Nina takes her own life, he’s free. He can finally be with Tabitha. Nina’s home, Windswept, can be theirs. It seems to be a perfect ending to a fairy tale romance that began so many years ago. But then, Tabitha finds a diary. “I’m writing this to raise an alarm in the event of my untimely death,” it begins. “If I die unexpectedly, it was foul play, and Connor was behind it. Connor—and her.”

Who is Connor Ford? Why did he marry Nina? Is Tabitha his true love, or a convenient affair? As the police investigate Nina’s death, is she a convenient suspect? As Tabitha is drawn deeper into the dark glamour of a life she is ill-prepared for, it becomes clear to her that what a wife knows can kill her.

Wow! The girl from the wrong side of the tracks falls in love with a rich boy but alas, their love is not meant to be. Many years later, they reconnect and realize there are still feelings but Conner is married to an older, very wealthy woman named Nina, that he doesn’t love or so he tells Tabitha. When Nina dies, suspicion swirls around Connor and Tabitha starts to question his true feelings for her. In fact, can she trust him? Really, how well does she know him? If this sounds like an episode of Dateline, you are correct. Its crazy and filled with intrigue and mystery and I loved every page!

This is one of those books I read and think about how it would make such a great movie! This will be out on June 9, pre-order here! You are going to LOVE IT.

Tabitha Girard never expected to see Connor Ford again. Their relationship in high school was hidden. Connor was from an affluent family; whereas Tabitha lived with her grandparents, who had to make ends meet. They met while Tabitha was a server at the pool, where Connor and his family hung out. Tabitha chanced sneaking out of her grandparents' home, to see Connor's band, and soon after lead to an ongoing relationship. Connor lived with his wealthy grandmother, and being daring, Connor and Tabitha sneaked into the house. When Connor's grandmother discovered the two, the relationship ended on a bad note.

Now years later, Connor walks back into Tabitha's life married to a wealthy, well known older woman, Nina. Tabitha is a waitress, and has to take Connor's order. Connor talks Tabitha into going with him to catch up, where they go to the home of a friend of Connor's, and one thing leads to another. Connor pledges he wants to leave his wife, but wants to do so in a way that doesn't void the pre-nup.

That one night spent together leads Tabitha with a dilemma, and days have gone by without one word from Connor. So Tabitha makes a choice that will bring more problems.

Following a big party, the next day, Nina is found dead, ruled a suicide. After Connor hears Tabitha's news, he marries her and moves her into Windswept, Nina's home. Everywhere, Tabitha turns, is Nina's shadow.

Tabitha's past catches up to her, and she agrees to work with the police because someone is lying. Tabitha is left to her own devices and trying to get people to talk, including Connor. When she gets a hold of Nina's journal and reads a passage from the day before she died, Tabitha isn't sure she knows Connor like she thought, maybe she never did.

This was an engrossing read! I enjoyed it.

I received an ARC from NetGalley via St. Martin's Press and I have voluntarily reviewed this book.

I have read several Michelle Campbell books and have always enjoyed them, so I was thrilled to snag a copy of The Wife Who Knew Too Much.

If I could sum this book up in two words it would be: Domestic Thriller. This book has it all -- romance, drama, affairs, murders, scandals. As with her other books, Michelle Campbell tells the same story from different narrators. It is such a fresh take on this genre, which can be bogged down at times. With different narrators and timelines, I was constantly telling myself "just one more chapter." Another great book!

I really loved A Stranger on the Beach so I was very excited to get my hands on a copy of the newest book by Michele Campbell. While it was a decent read, I didn't like it as much. I felt like the character development was lacking and I never developed any real interest in the characters. The plot made for a pretty good ride, though.

i loved this book.
Theres so much going on within these pages and its twisted and dark and twisty and so effed up! I thought i had it figured out and I was wrong..so go into this not knowing much more than the summary we are given from the author.
The author did an awesome job creating the scenes and bringing the characters to life. You might just feel the Hampton ocean chill on your shoulders while you're reading....
5 stars!

I received and ARC of The Wife Who Knew Too Much. Let me start by saying... I loved it.

This book sucked me in from the first chapter. I honestly probably could have read this whole book in one sitting if I hadn’t have had to go to work. The writing style was easy to read from the very first page. And the author did a wonderful job of setting the scenes. The Wife Who Knew Too Much has everything you want in a good mystery... love, lust, greed, drama, cheating... and of course, murder. I’m usually pretty good at figuring out the “who-dun-it” but this one kept me on my toes. Everytime I thought I had it figured out there was another twist or a wrench thrown in there. The plot itself was different than your run of the mill mystery, but not to the point of being unbelievable. The story of a love story gone... wrong? I’ll leave that for you to figure out. I giggle recommend this book. And now I’m going to find her other books so I can read those too.

Another great thriller from the author of A Stranger on the Beach. this one will draw you in from the first page of Ninas diary entry. While the love story is not very believable, the rest of the story line is fast paced and will keep you hooked until the end.

It’s been years since Tabitha has seen Connor. Ever since his Grandmother caught them and kicked her out of the house when they were teens. Suddenly though, Connor shows up during the dinner shift at Tabitha’s job. The two reconnect and everything is wonderful. Well, except for the fact that Connor is married to Nina, a very wealthy and connected woman. While Connor tries to find out a way to divorce Nina without activating the prenup, Nina winds up dead. Could Connor have killed her?

Michele Campbell does it again! Was anyone worried? I wasn’t! This book pulled me in from page one and I could not wait to find out what happened. Campbell has a way of making you love most characters, even when you don’t like them very much. While I did have the who-dun-it figured out fairly quickly, it did not slow or take away from my reading experience. I flew through it as always and greatly enjoyed it. Love, manipulation, hate, jealously, money, look no further, this thriller has everything you need!

Thank you St Martins Press for my gifted copy of this book!

Now this is a good thriller! This book kept me hooked from the very beginning. I kept trying to figure out who the actual "bad guy" is in this story, but Campbell kept me guessing to the very end. Highly recommend! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Another great psychological/domestic thriller by Michele Campbell. It almost felt like two mysteries in one, but I don't want to add any spoilers. Tabby reconnects with her childhood love Connor but he's caught up in a marriage to the wealthy Nina. Is love enough?

This had me hooked within the first few pages with Nina's diary entry. After that, it got less interesting. I didn't get the whole love between Tabitha and Conner, especially that it would have lasted all that time. Conner was only ever after two things: sex and money. Tabitha's character was ridiculous. She was naïve, her choices were ridiculous, and well, I just didn't like her. Actually, I didn't like any of the characters and I'm not one that has to like the characters in order to like the book. However, even the story wasn't strong. This was highly predictable, therefore, there were no twists. I honestly have nothing good to say about this book which is unfortunate.

This was an enthralling, suspenseful read, with echoes of Rebecca.

Tabitha is a poor waitress in a New Hampshire summer town when her high school boyfriend Connor comes back in her life. Now married to a rich, older widow, Connor seems to be off limits, but cannot resist Tabitha's charms.

Hunted by her ex-husband, Tabitha waits for Connor to divorce his wife, until she realizes she's pregnant. Tabitha heads down to the Hamptons to confront Connor, only to be followed her ex-husband and for Nina, Connor's older wife, to be found dead.

Now installed as the second Mrs. Ford, will Tabitha find the happiness or discover more than she wants to know about her husband?

The book has a lot of good twists and turns, and some that were a little unrealistic, but overall, I really enjoyed this exciting read.
