I really did not connect with this book. I didn’t like the tone or language and I really struggled to read it sorry
Apologies, but I had trouble viewing this title on my device, so I'll be unable to provide any feedback at this time.
As an alpha woman who has always struggled to find my place in friendships, the workplace, and the home, I was so excited for the concept of this book.
Don’t Be a B*tch, Be an Alpha absolutely delivers dozens of tips, mantras, and advice on how to manifest your best feminine energy...but I kept finding myself wanting *more*. Each chapter is maybe 3-4 pages long, and when I found a concept that really resonated with me, often there wasn’t enough practical insight or exposition for me to really grasp it before the next chapter was beginning. I almost wish the author had decided on including less but expanding each concept to include more.
Because I read an electronic ARC via NetGalley, I have no insight as to what the hard copy of this book looks like, but I think it’d do well as a gorgeously illustrated coffee table book with its little blurbs rather than shelved in the true self help section.
The blurb writer should find a new day job... this sounds kick-ass right?
Too bad most of it is about chakras, meditation, and the usual self-help stuff.
Where are my tips on being an alpha versus a bitch? I don’t think there is a single one; except maybe, to support your fellow women and stop competing.
What a huge disappointment. If you want a good, snarky, no nonsense self-help just go grab the ever popular The Art of Not Giving a F***.
Please note: I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is an honest and unbiased review.
Strong title that doesn’t deliver. It lacks content that is actually useful and new. There’s so many books like this so I needed something more unique.
Motivational book about physical and mental wellbeing for women who are strong leaders. Interesting enough that women leaders are perceived bossy and it is indeed the fact that strong women may have conflicts. Absolutely loved the first illustration that shows the difference between alpha women and bitches.
Although this book had a few points, it wasn't a book for me. I'm sure someone else will like it though.
If you are the type of person who believes strongly in chakras; energies; and meditation - This book is for you.
If, like me, you are not that type of person - You will not enjoy this book. It will actually read similar to the pep talk your drunken twenty something friends gave you at the bar after your first heartbreak. They made no sense then - and this book makes no sense now.
That said - regardless of which person you are - you will, at the very very least, walk away with some great new mantras.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review - While I didn't love it, I appreciated the friendly reminders and new catchphrases.
My inner feminist is chanting "Five! Five! Five!", while the part of my brain that contemplates honest ratings and reviews is like "....but is it?" And sadly, no, I don't feel it's a 5 star read.
First off, the title is incredibly catchy. It immediately caught my attention when I was scrolling for books to review. The cover isnt anything special, but it is very pretty and would catch my attention if I were browsing at a book store.
The book does have some great takeaways. It encourages readers to be their authentic self, and to focus on their mental health and well being - which is so incredibly important! I especially appreciated the chapter on boundaries.
While the book had a lot that resonated with me, some sections were less compelling to me. For instance, I'm not one that focuses on chakras, and I don't think everyone is "a little bit psychic". While i overall did like the tone of the book, i did find it annoying how frequently the author referred to the reader as "Sister."
All in all, the book was good. Self help isnt quite my go to genre, but I did appreciate what the author was wanting to pass along.
This is a book that every woman needs to read in small bits at a time. So many of us don't know our worth or are afraid to draw attention to our achievements, but the author gives advice on how to live up to our potential and get more out of our lives. I highly recommend this to all women.
