I read this in two days. It was a nice quick read. The story is about Casey who is considered as the womanizer of the college campus that Hannah also attends. She is coming back to college with a fresh start as she has finally got her cystic acne under control and she felt that was the reason why every boy was avoiding her on campus. She hasn't been in a relationship and has never been kissed and is a virgin. She wants to get out there this year and she goes to Casey because she wants some tutoring before she gets together with someone. Casey is stuck as the womanizer on the college campus and is friends with Hannah and her friends group so they run in the same circles. Casey and Hannah bond over old that they are watching in the common and you can feel their chemistry during the tutoring parts that you just want them to be together but they have to get through some rough patches. I also started getting annoyed with the people that kept on thinking of Casey as someone they could just have sex with especially as you get to know him. Cause you know that he is a person and people were expecting to sleep with him and that he would change his whole mind about the whole relationships thing even though he explicitly tells them that it's just a hookup. He never gives them the impression that they will just suddenly be in a relationship the next day, I do wish that we at least got a couple chapters from Casey's point of view just to get to know his brain process and him a little better but other than that I enjoyed this one and I hope you do too.
* Thank you Netgalley for the copy of this book for an honest review*
I just really enjoyed this book. It was just really easy to get lost in this book. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
I really tried I swear. But I got this book in March and ever since then I have been slowly trying to finish it. Finally, I did and I could only go to 3 stars. Usually, I would just do a DNF on a book, but I hate doing that.
Just because I gave this one a 3 star does not mean I won't try Isabel again. But this book did not connect for me. Sorry.
I really enjoyed this college romance book. It brought back many fond college memories of friends, parties, and awkward dates. I fell in love with Hanna and all her insecurities. She came back her senior year of college a changed woman. In looks and attitude. She was determined to make college memories by going to parties and not missing anything this year. She was also determined to lose her V card. She has a partner in crime with her roommate and best fried Audrey. Her first day back, a handsome guy helps her with her bag. She attends a party that does not end well, but gives her an idea. The stud of the college, Casey, which every girl wants, is going to help Audrey with her new plan. I don’t want to spoil anything about this book. But Hanna and Casey are adorable together. And hot! I loved how this whole story played out. This is a great college romance with an extremely happy ending for all the characters involved.
I enjoyed this book! A great quick read. I really enjoyed the style of writing and the pace of the book. This is a well written story which is a relatable and I was totally hooked throughout the book.
Casey and Hannah were so sweet together and the development from friends to more between them was well done. I always thought friends to lovers trope is harder to see it develop well. But this is an exception.
If you enjoy new adult sweet romance, then this is a must read.
This was an interesting book. It’s the first I have read by this author and I really enjoyed reading it. The characters and storyline were realistic. It was refreshing to see Hannah grow in confidence of herself. I adored the characters and will be looking for future books from this author.
I really enjoyed this story, as it was a page turner. There's just one reason it wasn't perfect to me, the lack of dual POV. I need to hear any of my hero's POV, especially when they're player when the heroine has some insecurities. See, Hannah has very bad acne in High School, but finally got a doctor who put her on medicine which cleared it up, so it's made her a bit introverted from the scars (and a few on the outside) inside. However, she thinks college will finally get her a new start, but she needs some help to deal with the opposite sex, which is where Casey Grant, resident player comes in. And that's all that I'm going to say about that. Now, you already know that through this tutoring process, feelings may or may not be caught, so cue the push & pull. There is some real potential for drama as well, but I'm not going to say what it would be. Finally, I really would have liked a Epilogue, but of course, that's just me. You can decide for yourselves by hitting that one click button, because again, A First Time for Everything is definitely a page turner! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Complementary copy given for honest review and opinion. This ugly duckling with trades for academic help is predictable but it was a cute and fun read.
From the moment I read this blurb I was hooked! From its charming and crackling premise to its immensely appealing characters, both main and secondary, this was a story that sucked me in and held me captive until the last turn of the page. In a story with a bit of humor, a bit of angst, and a lot of heart and soul, readers will find this a gem in the New Adult genre and will be clamoring for Ms. Morin to revisit this world and its easy to relate to characters.
Until her senior year of college Hannah Bloom had always tried to stay hidden, tried to hide her severe acne and battered self-esteem behind a reserved personality. Smart and studious she’s on course to go to med school where she truly wants to help people, but in her final year of college she wants something else too...a life. Having never yet been kissed, and with her v-card still intact, Hannah’s starting to feel angry and frustrated and desperate to feel like the strong-willed woman she’s becoming through taking more chances. After a disastrous first kiss though she turns to the dorm’s playboy, Casey, to tutor her in matters of sex and it’s not long before their hearts become involved. Hannah’s a wonderful heroine with a kind heart and insecurities that were easy to relate to, years of hurt feelings that had me aching for her while rooting for her to overcome her past. She pushed through the insecurities though to start experiencing life and started to realize that putting herself out there was worth a few bruises along the way, not only in her interactions with Casey but with her circle of friends too. She was down-to-earth and didn’t mince words either, a truthful woman that I respected and admired and who I could easily call my friend. The romance between her and Casey was a slow-burn that had them starting out as friends before becoming oh so much more and their journey was one that warmed my heart and put a smile on my face.
With this story being told from Hannah’s POV, much time is spent digging into her emotions but that doesn’t mean that Casey Grant’s put on the back burner. He’s far too sexy with a larger than life personality to ignore and with each turn of the page I fell for him even further. To many on campus he’s a playboy flitting from one conquest to the next, leaving a trail of broken hearts behind, with a smoldering smile and a life that seems carefree. Behind that facade though is someone far more complex, with doubts about his future, that are slowly revealed through his interactions with Hannah. Their early scenes were sweet with moments of flirtiness that put Hannah at ease and made her comfortable enough to ask him to be her tutor. From there their time together turned sizzling with moments that also allowed for heartfelt talks that helped readers become even more invested in them. Not only did Hannah grow during this story, but so too did Casey. Things had always come easily to him courtesy of a powerful family name and good looks, but with Hannah he found something that he had to work hard to claim. He had to earn her love after finally discovering that he did want love and commitment instead of the casual relationships he used to engage in. There’s a big heart hiding under Casey’s playboy act and it made him a delectable hero that I wish we could’ve spent a bit more time with as he’s a delicious morsel that I’m still dreaming about at night.
This was an entertaining read from start to finish with crackling banter and a scorching romance. The characters were appealing, both the main ones as well as the secondary ones, and were easy to relate to as they all reminded me of my own college years. The journey to HEA had a few tiny bumps along the way, as insecurities are hard to overcome, but it just had me rooting for them all the more while hoping that the secondary characters will soon take center stage. Among this couple’s circle of friends the one who left the biggest impression was Audrey, a strong-willed and straight talking heroine whose demeanor is very similar to Casey. She enjoys her casual flings, makes no excuses, and is very protective of those she calls friend. She too has family issues and I’m hoping that Ms. Morin knows was a treasure she has with this heroine and is already plotting out her story. Readers looking for a sweet and sexy tale where the teacher learns wwwwaaaayyyy more from the student will definitely want to grab this romance the moment you’re done reading this review!
This is my first book by this author and I'm happy to report that I was thoroughly impressed and loved this book. It was very well written and the story overall was very interesting.
The story itself was my cup of tea, I looove the "man whore trope" - it gets me every time. I was extremely happy to see that though Hannah was the shy type she was definitely a great leading lady and made my college-age self proud.
The chemistry between Hannah and Casey kept me turning the pages and wanting to read more. I was completely entertained by their interactions as well as the way the relationship flowed so organically, I credit the great writing - bravo Isabel!
Definitely a book I'd recommend you pick up if you're looking for a new adult book that has a leading lady that is relatable and a story line that is interesting and entertaining.
I enjoyed this different take on romance! A previous ugly duckling makes a deal with the most popular boy on campus for lessons on how to date (& more!) It was a little predictable at times but it was a quick, fun read!
I loved this story and just in case you don’t follow me/know me, that is huge because this age group normally has drama running amok in their lives that make my eyes twitch which makes me want to do violent things LOL Casey and Hannah did not make me want to burn things down. In fact, quite the opposite happened. Isabel Morin wrote a well thought out growth story about two people who on paper seem to be complete opposites but deep down they’re two pieces of a puzzle that fit perfectly together! Two people who both grew in the story because of each other!!
If I’m being honest, I knew the story would entertain me because of the premise. I mean the whole virgin getting lessons from the hot guy is impossible not to be entertaining! What I didn’t expect, and I embraced with open arms, was how endearing not only the story was but also both Hannah and Casey! These two kids owned my heart and it was just glorious!
This was a very sweet title set in college. I loved the characters and the pacing. It had a great theme of leaving behind bad things and becoming stronger. I loved every page. The characters felt so real and that made the story even better.
This is my first read from this author and I found the story to be quite enjoyable. I would have liked it to be dual POV just so I could get his side. Hannah and Casey were so good together. She wanted to lose her virginity before she graduated college so she turned to Casey since he already knew her secret and he was a player in every sense. What she didn’t expect was that in losing her virginity she was going to be gaining a relationship. Loved this friends to lovers’ romance.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I really, really loved this new adult romance about Hannah and Casey.
I really could relate to Hannah and all of her insecurities toward guys and how to be around them and her need to isolate herself from everyone around her.
It is really though to change The thinking of you not being good enough to be friends with the people around you and especially the beautiful jock who can get any girl or friend he wants.
Hannah has had acne since high school and has hidden herself away from everyone for years but now she has come back to her senior year of college with clean skin and a changed outlook on life.
She suddenly goes to parties, hang out with friends and become friends with the very popular jock Casey and she gets asked out by a gorgeous guy. But Hannah has never been on a date, has never been kissed and she is a virgin so how can she get over all her insecurities before her date and who can she ask to help her;)?
Casey is a rugby player on the college team and he is a player who has a new girl every day. He has also been with one of Hannah’s best friends which creates a problem for Hannah because her friend still has a crush on him. But he would be the perfect candidate to ask because he doesn’t fall in love and she just needs a friend to teach her! Will he help her out?
Hannah and Casey are so great together and their friendship is really special. I loved when he knocked on her door to ask if she wants to watch “I love Lucy” with him in the common room or when she takes care of him while he is sick. Their chemistry is also really hot and sensual.
Her friends kind of annoyed me and got a lot of her insecurities out in the open again and that didn’t have to happen.
I loved the HEA and that Hannah also helped Casey out with his problems figuring out what he wants to do with his life. She finally goes after what she wants and let’s go of all of her insecurities!
I can definitely recommend this book and if it becomes a series I will definitely continue.
I got this book from Entangled Publishing and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much.
A sweet college romance, I enjoyed this , a lovely coming of age tale with some sizzle . Great characters and chemistry, nice writing. Just a lovely easy read that will make you smile.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
This is a beautiful coming-of- age story which is about Hannah who shy and lacks confidence in herself, and Casey the popular playboy who she enlists to teach her how to overcome all her firsts. This is a well written story which is a relatable and sweet story and I was totally hooked and intrigued throughout. I highly recommend for all readers.
This is the first book I have read by Isabel Morin and I really enjoyed it.
Hannah is inexperienced and hasn't even kissed anyone. When she returns to college for her senior year she is determined to change that. Enter Casey, who is the perfect guy to help her with lessons. Things don't go as planned, though, and real feeling start to develop.
Casey and Hannah were so sweet together and I thought the development from friends to more between them was well done. They also both have a bit of personal growth which is nice to see in new adult books. It is a time of huge change in a person's life, so it wouldn't seem very true to life if they stayed stagnant.
Hannah has made some changes over the summer and is determined to make her final year of college a good one. She is going to embrace the entire college experience that she lacked the self-confidence to do in the past. When her attempt to kiss another student goes sideways she decides she needs lessons and who better than Casey to give them.
Casey is a star rugby player, is popular and has a reputation with the ladies. He is happy to help Hannah out, but he has some conditions of his own and they include that she will not develop feelings for him as he doesn’t want her hurt. When all is said and done who ends up hurting who?
It was fun watching the relationship between Casey and Hannah evolve as they both fought their feelings all the way but some things are too powerful to deny. Not only are Casey and Hannah great characters but there is a great group of secondary characters that enhance the story as well.
A First Time for Everything is a wonderful romance! This is the type of story that I like to devour in one sitting! I instantly attached to the characters and couldn’t wait to see it all play out. If you enjoy sweet romance stories from College days, then this is a must read.
