Princess Genevieve finds love in Theo!
Princess Genevieve of Moncriano is upset that she has been assigned an auditor to go over her budget (not that she actually has one) before Moncriano receives an invitation to join the European Union. She would prefer that they audit someone else but when Lord Theo Holst tells her to pick less expensive items, she decides to show him why the royal family has certain traditions it needs to keep.
Lord Theo Holst made a promise that he would never set foot back in Moncriano after leaving for boarding school but when he was asked to do the audit he figured out that he could prove that the country didn’t need the royal family.
Ruling the Princess is definitely a story where hate or actually major dislike turns to love when they figure out that the other isn’t who they expected. It’s the second book in the Sexy Misadventures of Royals and I really want to read the next book where get to read Christian and Mallory’s story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
So ecstatic that this series has continued! The second installment in this series focuses on Genevieve and picking up after the first book ended. Having the most difficulty dealing with the return of her sister, she wasn’t the fan favorite from the last book, which is why this book was as great as it was. We get to know who Genevieve is as a person and how her princess duties have shaped her life and compassion. Lord Theo is tasked with auditing Genevieve, and after an interaction with her that changed the course of his life many years ago, he has returned to the country with the sole purpose of getting revenge. As these two get to know each other without the titles and occupations, they realize they have sparks and chemistry, and Genevieve makes the decision to be with him regardless of the rules. But when all the secrets come out and the royal family finds yet another person wanting to break them down, they band together and help Genevieve get her HEA. I have become obsessed with this series and this author! I love the storyline and plot and the ongoing story that started with the first book. I can’t wait for the next installment!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I couldn't help but love this book! It reminded me a lot of one of my favorite tv shows that is no longer on the air-"The Royals" without being as crazy and far fetched as the show was.
I adored Genny and her want to be the best version of herself in everything she does. It gave a little insight to the royal lifestyle that I had never thought about before.
The writer did a great job with a twist at the very end that I was not expecting at all, which I really appreciate because I am usually pretty good at guessing plot twists.
Very quick witted characters.
Overall, a splendid read.
You know me.... any book that has to do with princesses or princes is right up my alley. Especially right now. I need some happily ever afters. I also love hate to love romances. So this book just hit the nail right in the coffin for me. I didnt read the first book in the series so I will probably get to it as soon as possible. I loved how the romance developed between Genevieve and Theo and I hope to see more of them in the new book coming soon. Even a little peep would be nice. I loved Christian, Kelsey and my boy Elias. This is like the princess diaries for adults. I really enjoyed this and I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I really need the next book... is it coming out soon?
*Thank you Netgalley for providing me a copy for an honest review.*
A great addition to the Sexy Misadventures of Royals series.
Lord Theo comes onto the scene, immediately hating Princess Genny and the royal family. He’s got an ax to grind and he has the means to grind it down to a stump!
I must admit that I was a little disappointed at the reason Theo hated Genny since he was a kid. It seemed kind of silly for a grown man to hold that kind of grudge. But watching Genny and Theo circle each other was very entertaining.
I can’t wait for the next installment which slides to Christian and Mallory’s possible romance.
5 stars!!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the E-arc copy of Ruling the Princess. It was a fun and romantic romp.
I’m glad Genevieve got her own book, because she annoyed me in her sister’s. I understood some of why she was aloof, but getting her entire backstory, and seeing her humanity, just made me love her. Theo is completely awesome too, and the perfect guy for her. I loved this one, and I cannot wait for Christian and who I’m hoping he ends up with!
Ruling the Princess by Christi Barth a five-star read that deserves its own tiara. This is number two in the Sexy Misadventures of Royals series and I loved it, I enjoyed the first story in the series but I loved this one, which surprised me so much as I hated Princess Genevieve Eleanor Marie, second in line to the throne of Moncriano when I read her in the first story, I did warm towards the end but still not much, but she warmed me so much in this story, we see the real princess the one who may wear a tiara but is still just a woman looking for her place in life. I really enjoyed this story; it was full of spice and drama and has such a great story that you can’t help but he hooked and keep reading from the first page until the last. Do not miss this great story, and all I can say is bring on number three Prince Christian we need you story now!!
Great read! I loved the characters in this book. Genevieve is a down to earth monarchy that you can't help but admire and respect. Theo is stuck in his childhood and allowing old hurts to taint his views of the royal family. Getting to audit the princess seems like royal revenge, only Theo quickly learns his beliefs of Genny and her family could be off the mark.
The entire gang of characters were great addition to the story. The plot was fun and entertaining and leaves you wanting more, Christian's story.
I enjoyed this book from start to finish and found myself heavily invested in Theo and Genny’s love story! It’s definitely one of my favorite royal romance themed books I’ve read to date. I highly highly recommend this to anyone that wants an entertaining and funny romance to read. Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC!
Princess Genevieve has a problem, the Royal auditor assigned to her as a part of the vetting process to prepare to join the EU.
Lord Theo hates the Royalty of Moncriano and specifically the princess, and as the Royal auditor he plans to cut down all her extravagant expenses. But as he spends time with her, he sees a different side and can’t help but fall for her.
This is an entertaining read. I really enjoyed the banter between the Princess and Lord Theo, it was life foreplay which when came to its conclusion ended in fireworks. I had enjoyed the first book in the series and now I can’t wait to read Prince Christians HEA.
Yesss! I loved the first novel in this series and was so excited to be chosen for an ARC from netgalley for this one! Now, you can read it as a stand-alone but I do recommend reading the first one as it is so good! This is princess Genny and lord theo’s story. I loved it! Can’t wait for Christian’s story.
This is a wonderful romance that I loved. Genevieve is a princess with a problem - a royal auditor nitpicking through her personal spending, almost as though he has a vendetta. Theo is an auditor with an immense issue with royalty and with Princess Genevieve in particular. What follows is an entertaining story that romance fans will love.
I loved the characters in this book and especially loved the way the three siblings interacted and how their relationships have developed since the first book in the series (The Princess Problem).
While this is a stand alone novel, the series is so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all. I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series. I've added the author to my must read authors' list.
