Wow! What a book.
Even though it’s the middle of the night and I’m really tired, I have to write this review.
I’ve read previous books by N J Walters and really enjoyed them. But this book was something else.
A demon hunter and a fallen angel are hired to kill each other. Should be straight forward but it’s not.
This book is full of action, and is pretty hot too.
I’m gonna be giving it my recommendation to lots of friends.
Can’t wait to read more in this series.

If you love books with fallen angels and assassins, this love story will spice up your TBR!

We first follow the hero who's lost all hope of gaining his torn wings back, that is, until a grain of hope presents itself in the form of his next assignment as an assassin. But surprise, surprise when his target is also looking straight at him.

Then a whirlwind of steam and spark flare up as the assassin and bounty hunter go head to head with a bit more romance than death.

And this chemistry was a lot more steamier than I expected which will always be a good thing to me.

This book deserves the 4 out of 5 stars, and I highly recommend it to readers who love angel romances! The ending will leave you breathless without the dreaded cliffhanger.

This was intense! Maccus is a hot as hell fallen Angel and Morrigan is a bounty hunter from hell. The two together, combustible! This was full of action and adventure. Also some very steamy interludes. I flew three this book and I loved it! Maccus is awesome! This story rocked my world and now I have a new author to love and binge! I have some catching up to do!

The first book in the Forgotten Brotherhood, Fury Unleashed opens the war between heaven and hell. A great start to this powerfully, engaging series. The characters were compelling and the story captivating I will definitely be reading more and recommend you do to.

What a great setup for a new world! I really enjoyed getting to know all the supernatural good/bad/between guys and the smutty goodness that resulted.

Morrigan is serving a sentence, acting as a demon bounty hunter for Lucifer (or his middle management) in exchange for keeping her sister out of hell. There is, of course, more to the story than that, but it's where we begin. She ends up tasked with killing someone way out of her league, but she could hardly know that at the time. And you don't really say "no" to Lucifer.

Maccus is a fallen angel who has some pretty spiffy powers and an impressive track record. People mostly know to leave him alone, which is why he is so very intrigued when an angel offers him a contract on Morrigan's life. These two end up reluctant allies that quickly become allies with benefits. Who knew being nearly immortal had some super benefits in the bedroom? These two light the pages on fire and ultimately become so much more.

There are some twists and turns, betrayal and growing, all the while we get to learn about the way things work in this world. I'm excited to see where this new series takes us, and especially curious about how our Romeo & Juliet end up protecting the world.

What a great set up! Assassins pitted to assassinate each other in a complex PNR world. Loved it with these main characters: Maccus, the angel who lost his wings, and Morrigan, a bounty hunter for Lucifer. Both are offered deals if they assassinate the other. Of course they discover things are not all they seem, but to go against the orders of Lucifer and an angel takes a lot of guts.
The book dishes up all the feels as it steams up between these two characters. Action packed and mesmerizing read. Wholly recommend.

I so needed a new paranormal angel trope romance book and this one delivered in an outstanding way. Maccus Fury and Morrigan Quill's story begins with a bang and gets a rollercoaster started that doesn't end, the chemistry sparks fireworks everywhere, I am so happy to have found this book, I can't wait for the next one, phenomenal story!

This is going to be great for those that love the Black Dagger Brotherhood or the Lords of the Underworld series. It follows the same type of format only this time around Lucifer is the big bad.

The writing is great! No problems there are all. There's lots of sex in this book so if you're looking for that, you've found it. Personally, I prefer just a wee bit less sex but it's not a game-changer I just skip the sex scenes after I get bored with them.

The characters are great!!! I loved Morrigan and Marccus and how they came together and learned to trust one another. It's very kinda insta-love.... they sleep together a few times and she's already falling for him. So that's a trope I hate to pieces but this time it didn't ruin the story because there was more going on to keep me reading. I will say that Morrigan got the short end of the stick in life! I feel for her so much because I too would have done anything for my younger sister.

I'm really excited to read the next book because I'm pretty sure it's about a vampire and while I love fallen angels, vampires top everything. So bring on the next book!

I will say that the ending is a good HEA that is really wrapped up in a pretty bow. A bow that really stretched to fit the ending. But hey, I enjoyed it and stayed up late into the night reading even when my brain was freaking out over the covid-19 stuff. So it gets a win in my book!!

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.

When I stumbled upon this beautiful cover and riveting synopsis about a fallen angel and a demon bounty hunter I knew that I have to read this! This story really captivated me.

I really liked the main characters. They were very likable and surprisingly relatable. I think that there were some missed opportunities with the characters in terms of complexity. They could have used a lot more depth. The character growth was sufficient for the amount of information that we are given about the characters. Again, some missed opportunities there. For instance, Forgotten Brotherhood is the name of the series and very little was explained about it in this book. The characters were still enjoyable.

I really enjoyed the writing. The author's voice is one that really spoke to me and I found myself lost in the pages of this book easily. The writing was smooth and elegant at the same time.

This story is very character-based. There isn't an awful lot of world-building and a lot of it builds off of what the reader is already familiar with in the paranormal genre. There is certainly enough for the story to get by and be satisfying but I would have liked to see more original world-building. Even though the world-building was limited, I still had a good sense of things around the characters. The world-building components just didn't have a lot of depth. The plot of the story was something that also needed some more depth. While I liked the way that things ended in the story, the journey could have used some more details.

The romance in the story was definitely hot but it was a little too instalove for my taste. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy the romance, because I did, but the instalove still rubbed me the wrong way. I did like the connection that Morrigan and Maccus had and I really enjoyed watching them get close.

Overall, this was an exciting story that was super fun to read. It could have used more depth in many areas but it was a good read nonetheless. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in this series. I am very curious about the other members of the Forgotten Brotherhood and I am eager to see how the characters from this book connect in everything. If you are into hot paranormal romance then I would definitely give this one a shot.

I've never read anything by this author but this book will not be there last. I love books about assassins and this one blended with fallen angels was freaking awesome. This book was hot and steamy and I can't wait for more. The romance was spot on and I need book two now!

Fury Unleashed is a thrilling paranormal romance. It's a page-turner and makes you see what is going to happen next. This is my first time reading N.J. Walters and I'm so impressed.

The story follows Maccus Fury and Morrigan Quill as they are both assigned to kill one another. Maccus is a fallen angel and Morrigan is an assassin. Morrigan sold her soul to Hades to protect her sister. Such a cool book to follow.

I really liked it when Maccus and Morrigan interacted. From the first to the last, they have so much chemistry and it's so alluring. They have a unique bond and have so many redeemable qualities.

I give Fury Unleashed 4 stars. It's one of the most memorable paranormal romances that I have read in a while.

Having read various of N. J. Walters Drakon stories, I was very curious to read about Fallen Angels from her. But boy, this was a treat! Maccus is a fallen angel, who has escaped from Hell. So, rejected by both Heaven and Hell, his lives on earth.
When he comes across the feisty Morrigan, he can't deny his attraction to her. Too bad she tries to kill him. As a bounty hunter for the Devil himself, Morrigan needs to finish her assignment to kill Maccus. No matter how hot he is, he isn't worth serving another eternity in Hell. She has a nice deal from the Devil: kill her assignment and she will be set free.
But of course, no pact with the Devil is trustworthy. Because although Morrigan can hold her own against all kinds of demons, it is very clear she is no match for Maccus. It doesn't mean she will not try.
Maccus doesn't understand why the Devil set Morrigan up on his tail. And when Gabriel (yep, the archangel) offers Maccus his place in heaven if he kills Morrigan, he knows something is up. But who is behind this scheme and why? Find out for yourselves, who gets to kill who first and why. Twists, turns and smoking hot scenes! Loved it. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

This book was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Entangled: Amara!

Fury Unleashed is the first book in the Forgotten Brotherhood series and tells the story of Maccus and Morrigan.

What first intrigued me about this book was the cover. The dark wings and the handsome guy… I just had to know what this book was about. The story sounded so interesting and it didn’t disappoint! I really liked the story and the characters, it was such an original take on angels and demons. The only problem I had was something with the pacing. I cannot really explain it but that was the thing that bothered me a bit.

Maccus is such a mysterious character and you want to know what is going through his head. I really liked the multiple perspectives because you had the chance to read about Maccus’ thoughts. Morrigan is such a badass woman, and I love her for that. She’s fierce and a fighter, and just perfect for Maccus! They’re a match made in heaven, if you know what I mean lol.

Fury Unleashed is a good first book in a new series about angels and demons. I really liked the story and characters in general and I’m really excited for the next book in the Forgotten Brotherhood series.

Guess what? I've found a new author to stalk! N.J. Walters... where the heck have you been all of my life? I feel like I've been missing so many opportunities to fall in love with your words and your characters because Maccus and Morrigan were two examples of how incredibly talented you are!

Maccus Fury ↠ once an angel, he was betrayed by Gabriel and spent centuries battling for survival in the pits of hell. His time there turned him into a battle-weary warrior, a feared assassin known as The Hunter, the fiercest and strongest male alive, and a threat to all higher beings. An unwarranted enemy of both Gabriel and Lucifer, he becomes a player in a game he doesn't know the rules to. Gabriel wants him to kill Morrigan Quill, a demon hunter who carries an innocence and a light to her. She's the one person who is able to truly touch him, to unleash his emotions. Will she be the one to nurture the dwindling light of his soul?

Morrigan Quill ↠ a desperate attempt to save her sister had her sacrificing her soul to Lucifer. Destined for Hell, she's trained to become a demon hunter and she's darn good at her job. When the big boss orders her to kill in exchange for wiping her contract clean, how can she refuse? She was willing to do just about anything to guarantee her and her sister's freedom. But what happens when she realizes that the man she's supposed to kill can't be killed? At least not by her. And he may be the one person who can make her feel free.

From the intriguing world building to the action-packed and suspenseful plot to the intriguing, I-can't-get-enough-of-them characters, I was easily captivated by this story. My only complaint is that it has taken me this long to indulge in a story by Walters. Maccus was delicious, Morrigan was endearing, and I'm looking forward to what's next in this series.

Maccus is a fallen angel and an assassin. But when an angel comes and tries to hire him to kill a human, he refuses but is still curious why he wants her dead.

Morrigan is one of Hell's bounty hunters. She traded herself for 25 years so that her younger sister could have a safe life. But when Lucifer himself comes to her and gives her a bounty and tells her to kill Maccus, she knows this is no normal demon bounty.

Maccus runs into Morrigan when she's chasing after a demon. The instant attraction they feel for each other isn't smothered by the shocking revelation that each feels when they realize that they other is someone they are supposed to kill. Neither of them trust each other at first but after a night of wild, hot, sex they sit and talk trying to figure out why Lucifer and archangel Gabriel want them dead.

My heart broke for both of them time and time again. Not only for what they had gone through but for what I knew was coming and I had no doubt that it would be messy, hard and hurtful. The truth of what they had both been through was horrifying. They had both been in hell, tortured and now not only could they barely trust each other but they knew that each other was all they had.

Trying to figure out why the archangel Gabriel and Lucifer are in essence working together to get them to kill each other was frustrating. But when the truth's come out, the betrayals come to the surface and they both find out what's really going on, it was crazy. But it was wonderful to see how this ended because not only did it bring tears to my eyes but I'm really looking forward to finding out what happens next. I can't say enough good things about this book. If you like fallen angels and demons then you need to read this book...right now!

Disclosure: I was given an ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I went through a paranormal phase a few years back and the synopsis of this seemed reminiscent of those books. Maybe I have just moved on from that genre, but I didn't enjoy this one and couldn't finish.

Spell-bindingly brilliant! Astoundingly breathtaking! Fury Unleashed is an epic masterpiece born from an unrelenting hope and a matchless love borne from nothing more then needing it in one's life. This was a marvelous adventure that left you gasping for breath and gripping your chair with all your might while trying to not get run over by it's fantastic charisma. I love stories with a depth and emotion to their wonderful twists and turns and this one provided them all with ease and grace. That is what I call powerful and stunning!

Maccus has lived for so long that he no longer savor life or its small treasures. His life has been more bad then good to continue to hold any optimism for the world and its inhabitants. He keeps to himself unless things get too out of hand and his driven to intervene. Morrigan has spent a decade loving for another. What she does each day is not for her. It is the ultimate display of love and loyalty. There is no such things as pleasure and fun as her days are filled with darkness and neverending duty. When these two world's collide, boundaries are shattered and a menacing danger roars to life. Can these two figure out the danger that surrounds them before it's too late, or will they listen to their heart and step beyond their stade life?

My heart nearly exploded when these two phenomenal characters found each other and all hell broke lose as they would say. There was something unstoppable that took place when these two came together. I loved the thorough exploration of their connected which made no sense at all. It was heart breaking and marvelous and pure. I thought I would lose my mind with the intensity of hope and love that naturally bloomed between them. It was incredibly refreshing and wonderfully blisssful.

N. J. Walters has seared and stolen my heart with this exquisite work of pure and unadulterated art. Nothing prepared for the genius with these pages, and I was shocked at the simple yet powerful depth within each word. It left me in awe and wanting so much more!! Do not miss out on this once in a lifetime talent and allow yourself to indulge in the decadence that is this incredible story.

Maccus Fury is a fallen angel just trying to keep his sanity. Now an assassin himself, another assassin has been sent after him. She's smart and beautiful and he thinks pretending to seduce him. Although he doesn't get why they think that they only need one assassin to take him out and not an army! Morrigan Quill is one of Hell's bounty hunters. She sold her soul in order to keep her sister safe, even knowing what was in store for herself. She has a hundred years to go and is just hoping to make it that far without failing. When Hades gives her another offer (that she knows has to be too good to be true) she doesn't feel she has a choice but to take it. All she has to do is kill the fallen angel that she knows could kill her with a flick of his wrist.

I wish this would let me give half stars on here. I would say more of a 4.5 than just a 4! I really liked this one! It's the perfect way to start a new series and left me wanting more! Maccus is this strong man with an absolute heart of gold who got such a raw deal. And for what? I hate what happened to him! But his relationship with Morrigan is, in my opinion, perfect. He finally gets something that he truly deserves to have, someone who loves him and is willing to give herself up for him! And it's beautiful. Morrigan is this woman who gave up everything because of the love she has for her sister. She has an exceptionally beautiful soul and is willing to do anything and everything for the people that she loves. I loved the twist towards the end with regards to her family that I didn't see coming! The only reason I didn't give this one 5 stars was because I was left with some questions in regards to her sister. I felt like there were a few things that were left out and I felt a little lost with regards to her. I honestly can't wait for the next one!!

When Heaven and Hell conspire together to eliminate a human and a fallen angel, you know that trouble is just starting. With little "humanity" left, Maccus is at the end of his willingness to continue. But meeting Morrigan changes everything. Will the opportunity presented to each be more than their chemistry can handle? Or will temptation strike a blow that can't be recalled?

Still getting my fix in on paranormal too with this author having not been on my horizon for awhile so this caught my attention. She knows how to take us somewhere else and incorporate us into a tale that will have us gone for stretches. Maccus and Morrigan both seem to have had a heavy past but also now their present is soon to come face to face. The interaction will keep us focused on them with the drama keeping us there. They are going to show us a thing or two that will go hand in hand with trust as just one of them. This was a pleasure indeed.
