Fury Unleashed by N.J. Walters is book One in the Forgotten Brotherhood Series. This is the story of Morrigan Quill and Maccus Fury. Wow! What a start to a series. Maccus was once a Angel but had his wings ripped from him after a incidnet. So now he has taken to being an assassin for hiring taking out the bad people. Morrigan's little sister had made a very bad decision that cost Morrigan to chose between being in service to the devil for about 25 years or to have her sister die. So Morrigan life these last 10 years or so has been traveling paying servitude via bounty hunter. Now in both of their present day Maccus has been promised his wings back if he takes out Morrigan. Morrigan has been promised a debt paid in full if she takes out Maccus. When they meet both feel the sparks and the pull between them. But both have been on their own for so long with only themselves to trust. Both figure something is going on and things can not be so easy but they would have to trust each other and their building feelings to move forward.
I couldn't not put the book down. Loved it and I hope to read more from this author soon!!

A good start for a new paranormal series. It was gripping and entertaining.
The plot flows and there's not a moment of bore, the cast of characters is well thought and there's a lot of chemistry between the MCs.
There's only one issue: I would have preferred some more world building but I think it will be developed in the next installment.
A fun read, recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

A little while ago I was browsing through Netgalley and came across this gorgeous cover of ‘Fury Unleashed’. Although I have never read a book by N.J. Walters before, and haven’t read a lot of paranormal romance lately, I loved the look and sound of this book and was beyond excited when I received the mail saying I was getting send an Arc.

‘Fury Unleashed’ is the first book in the Forgotten Brotherhood series. This book is told from both Maccus Fury, and Morrigan Quill’s point of view. Maccus is a Fallen Angel who has lived for thousands of years. He works as an assassin and rarely feels anything. Maccus has only a little thread of humanity left and he doesn’t even care. But when Morrigan, a bounty hunter, walks by him he feels things he hasn’t felt before. And soon they find out that both Heaven and Hell are involved with setting them up to meet.

Requesting this book was a bit of a gamble. I rarely read fantasy or paranormal novels lately. But this book just seemed to speak to me. I really wanted to read it and I’m so happy I did because I really loved this book from the moment I started till the very end.

‘Fury Unleashed’ is the perfect combination of romance, action and paranormal. I loved it! The two main characters Maccus and Morrigan shouldn’t work at all, but they do. Their chemistry is flying of the pages, and there is definitely a lot of Hotness going on. I mean if you don’t like sex in your book, than this one is not for you. But I loved the way there was all this hot stuff, but above all their was romance and lots of action. This book definitely kept me sitting on the edge of my seat.

The action was intense. I mean we are talking about fighting between Heaven and Hell and demons and.. Well, you’ll have to read it!

But what I loved most about this read was the way there just was a whole new world. There are bounty hunters, demons, angels and there is heaven and hell.. but everything is new and original. Nothing is the way you think it is. N.J. Walters created this unique new world and I very much enjoyed it.

Since this book is the first one in a series, I definitely can’t wait to read the next book. And I might have to check out more books by this author.

This was good, like, really good. I loved the main characters and the story kept me hooked for the entire time.

Maccus is definitely an anti hero and an awesome one at that. He was once an angel until Gabriel, his best friend, betrayed him and cut off his wings. Falling to Hell, Maccus literally carved out a bloody existence until his violence, and fear of his strength, had him kicked out of there as well. Now living on Earth, he sells his services and tries to avoid attracting the attention of Heaven or Hell. He is feared by all who know his name and has never minded his solitary life.

Morrigan was just a normal girl who tried her hardest to take care of her younger sister until the day her sister summoned Lucifer. In order to save her sister, Morrigan offered herself instead and now she is bound to do his bidding until her contract is up. After suffering unimaginably in Hell as part of her "training" she now works as sort of a bounty hunter for Hell. Tracking down demons that have not returned when their time topside is over.

Their lives get twisted together when Gabriel approaches Maccus with an offer should he kill Morrigan for him, and Morrigan is ordered by Lucifer to kill Maccus. At first, wanting their deaths doesn't make any sense. But the more that these two dig into things and find out, the reasons slowly come to light and nothing good will come of it for either of them. There is plenty of fighting, lots of heat, and twists around every corner. The biggest surprise coming at the end that their enemies never expected.

I absolutely loved the relationship between Maccus and Morrigan. Morrigan was a woman who knew how kick ass...but also knew her limits and I love when authors acknowledge that. Maccus is unbeatable and his skills are only surpassed by his well earned arrogance. The strength of the other was a major turn on for both of them and it was apparent from the start that these two were made for each other.

I have a feeling the next book will not be about these two, the series is about the Forgotten Brotherhood after all, but I think I will definiteley want to check it out.

Like many of us, reading has been a hard thing to do. But I’m happy to say that I completely devoured N.J. Walter’s, Fury Unleashed, in one sitting. There were a couple things here and there that kept me from giving this 5 stars, but overall, it was a decent start to what’s to come. And boy are we all in for a treat when it comes to the Brotherhood.

From the very beginning, there’s no doubt that Maccus and Morrigan are absolutely hot for one another. Normally I don’t mind a lot of s*x in a book, but I think they gave into passion a bit too much to the point where it took me out of the actual story.

I loved learning about their back story and was hoping for more depth into not only the plot, but their character development as well. However, I really liked the idea of having these two pinned against each other. All the tension you can imagine, is there and I was kind of here for it. Having these two essentially against each other it brought up a lot of questions that I desperately needed to be answered.

There’s a few story arcs going on that me interested the whole time, all but one was solved. Which is the one that I’m sure will be going through the rest of this series.

I thought this was a great start to the Forgotten Brotherhood series, I am so eager to learn about who the rest of the Brotherhood is. I've been a huge fan of Walter's Drakon series, so I'll be adding this series to my anticipated reads.

Super sexy fallen angel that doesn't follow any rules and a badass bounty hunter who has contracted her soul to hell to save her baby sister, yes please. Add to that Walters has thrown in a power struggle between Lucifer and the archangel Gabriel, two beings that see others simply as pawns beneath them. Fury Unleashed the first book in N.J. Walters Forgotten Brotherhood is a solid start to a series I'm looking forward to reading more of.

The hero Maccus Fury is made up of all the things readers want in their next book boyfriend. He's a fallen angel who has worked for both heaven and hell. He is an assassin that is feared by both realms. He doesn't play well with others. He's a loner and he's good with that.

Morrigan may do the devils work but it's only because of the goodness in her soul. She made a decision out of pure desperation to save her sister. She's doing good work. She's sending demons back to hell where they belong. The contract that binds her soul specifies she can't say no to a job, even when the job is simply to make her a helpless pawn in a battle that has been going for thousands of years.

If it was not for some unanswered questions I'd give the book four stars. If I knew if the author planned on moving on to another couple or moving forth to the next book still following Maccus and Morrigan that would be enough of an answer to let the rating stay as is or go to four stars. I feel like there were just a few too many unanswered things with this couple. The ending was a little too convenient and ambiguous.

I am an N.J. Walters fan. I'm going to start there.

The first book of hers I read was Night of the Tiger from Hades' Carnival series. The start of that book is so mind twisty; I was in love! And right before the fall for a small publisher I did regular ARC reviews for folded she did two Alice in Wonderland retellings--and everyone, and their brother, knows what an Alice fiend I am. Expect me to say good things.

Maccas Fury has all the passion of a doorknob.

Wait! I said to expect me to say GOOD THINGS! What the hell?

Maccas is a fallen angel, part of the Forgotten Brotherhood, and been around Earth since angels became a thing, and they got pitched down for being unruly brats. He's had a lot of time to develop that lack of passion. And he's on his last nerve, a moment away from the darkness. So let's let sleeping passionless doorknobs be irritable with a touch of alluring.

On the other side of our epic battle is someone a whole lot less divine. More than human these days, but full of the goodness a pure heart infuses, Morrigan Quill is trying to re-write the mistakes of her little sister if she can work off Kayley's debt and keep her out of hell than they can both escape Lucifer.

If only agents of Heaven and Hell wanted things to work out for Morrigan and Maccas--because Lucifer and Gabriel have pitted the two against one another, and someone is going to die.

That isn't a spoiler, so you don't need an alert. It's a guarantee and N.J. Walters promises it. Don't fire the author or the enforcer. Just read the damn book!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary advance copy of this book.

I always enjoy a well-written paranormal story. I also always enjoy those men that appear unlovable and unloving but who underneath are the ultimate in loyal and caring. This book gave me both of those. I found Morrigan and Maccus sympathetic and admirable in their devotion and their lightness in a dark world. Their love for each other was outstanding. They battle good and even, literally Heaven and Hell, those around them are not what they appear and yet they fight on. Their love with be tested far more than most. Can they survive? Can their love survive? There's tons of action, heart wrenching story lines and heartwarming moments. I look forward to what Satan has up his sleeve and finding out more about Gabriel.

Maccus Fury is a fallen angel who has become an assassin. When Gabriel shows up wanting to hire him to kill Morrigan Quill he wants to find out why. Morrigan is a bounty hunter who sold herself to the devil, when he shows up wanting her to kill Maccus she is not sure what he has done to tick off the Lucifer. Thinking she will seduce him she does not expect that the attraction is mutual or that Maccus is out to end her as well. Now they are fighting the growing feelings for one another while staying alive at the same time.

There is so much more to this particularly with Morrigan she has a huge back story that plays into the plot. I thought this was a terrific kick off to a new series. I liked the build up and thought it was a refreshing take to this type of storyline. A new series that will knock your socks off.

Archangel Gabriel, Lucifer, demon hunter and fallen angel…Whoa! What a steamy story!
You would expect Gabriel and fallen Angel Lucifer to work at cross purposes, but what if they both wanted the same things? Great book. I felt happy, sad and even cried. Loved the ending after the tears.
Maccus Fury is a fallen angel who has been roaming the Earth for several millennia, not caring about anything or anybody. At heart he’s a “good” guy and along with others has banned together to form the Forgotten Brotherhood, a group of assassins who kill the monsters of the world, never the innocent.
Morrigan Quill is a bounty hunter for Lucifer. She gave him her soul for 25 years to free her baby sister’s life/soul. Morrigan has been given an opportunity to end this contract if she would just kill this one person: Maccus. He in turn as been asked to kill one person: Morrigan. What happens when their paths cross? There is an immediate attraction but what good would that do? Oh. My. This is one steamy PNR story (OMG the shower scene or the diner scene and many others). This would make one stupendous action movie!
If you like Angels, Demons and those around them, read this book. This was a different genre for me, but I loved it! I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Entangled/NetGalley and it comes highly recommended.

Once an angel, betrayed by a friend, Fallen Angel, Maccus, just wants to be left alone. However, Fate and his past have different plans. His life as an assassin is catching up to him, and things are going to get a little dicey! Morrigan has sold her soul to Satan to save her sister; she’s been a bounty hunter for Satan for ten years, and she has fifteen years left on her contract. Satan will void the last fifteen years she has left, and all she has to do is kill Maccus. Angel, Gabriel, presents Maccus with a contract: assassinate a particular human, and we’ll leave you alone. The human, Morrigan. For one to live, the other must die.

I finished this story in one day, about a week ago. My mind is still reeling from how good it was! Maccus was an absolutely fantastic character. He’s smart, funny, caring, but he also has no desire to die. Morrigan is a badass. She intelligent, witty, and a little naive when it comes to the people she loves, but she, too, has no desire to die. And it is interesting to watch everything play out and unfold, especially from the moment they meet each other. I can’t believe this is the first book I’ve read by N.J. Walters! The writing was fantastic and kept me on the edge of my seat. I am ecstatic this is going to be a series. I don’t know how many books will be in the series, but I look forward to reading each and every book in it!

Book 1 in the series Forgotten Brotherhood by NJ Walters delivered Walters style but with plenty of juicy twists. NJ Walters is a master at delivering sexy, sensual and fast paced paranormal romances in my opinion but this time she truly hit it out the park. This book features the story of Maccus Fury who is a fallen angel fighting to not completely fall into an abyss of soulless darkness. He is in danger of this happening because he is a bad ass assassin, the baddest ass assassin to be exact and the work though needed has be wilting away at his soul. Enters Morrigan Quill, one of Hell’s bounty hunters with a contract from her boss Lucifer to take him out by any means necessary. Upon meeting it becomes quite clear to her that this is a contract that is way out of her league and so she starts wondering why it was really given to her. Did Lucifer want to make sure he keeps her bound to him forever because she knows she can’t take on Maccus. Ironically the angel Gabriel has also given Maccus the task of taking out Morrigan and he is just as puzzled as to why the angel wants her dead.
The pull of attraction that these two feel upon meeting leaves both of them baffled but clearly hopeful and that comes through beautifully in Walters writing. This serves to pull you into not only the stories’ intrigue, but also into Maccus and Morrigan as a couple. You find yourself rooting for them and on tethers to find out what devious duplicity is going on. Trust me, you will be glued page to page to find out what the reasoning is behind the contracts and who has it in for the characters and not just because of the amazing fiery sex scenes. You will be shocked, surprised, and hurt for Morrigan, whom we find out had sold her soul to keep her sister Kayley safe. She has been diligently working her contract by catching bad guys and dragging them back to hell where they belong and now it seems the boss must want her dead for clearly Lucifer himself can’t seem to take on Maccus.
I have to stop gushing over the book for clearly it is an awesome read and I can’t keep on giving everything away. Let’s just say that things are not as they seemed, but together these two kick ass and get answers which leads to apocalyptic end. I cannot wait to read the subsequent titles in the Forgotten Brotherhood series, though this book was a standalone read. This review was given on the copy received from the publisher and NetGalley in return for my honest opinion.

This is an interesting take on demons and angels mythology. I enjoyed reading it. Maccus is a fallen angel and a trained killer. He has lived on earth for centuries now and there is no being who is more powerful than him. He has no weaknesses and heaven and hell both leave him alone. That is until Morrigan enters the picture. She is a hell's bounty hunter. Her soul belongs to Lucifer. But against all odds, Maccus wants her and also wants to keep her safe. But do they even stand a chance when heaven and hell both are against them?
There are some twists and turns along the way. The story is gripping but more than anything else it is a steamy hot romance novel. Perfect for lovers of paranormal romance. I loved all the characters and overall, I think it's a good read. However, there were a few boring parts where the story just seemed to be dragging. I confess, I skipped a few chapters here and there. Maybe readers who like slow-paced books would love it more than me.

I couldn't quite believe I got an ARC for this! My luck with Netgalley is hit and miss even on the same author at times. I shot my shot and boy, was I happy I actually got this one. Even if the cover kept reminding me of Devil Jin in Tekken. I can't help how my mind works, people.

When I know I want/have to review a book, I tend to avoid reading others reviews or visuals as I don't want to be influenced either way. With this one I barely even read the blurb. I mean, it starts with "Maccus Fury, a fallen angel," I didn't need to know more, I was sold! And the next paragraph was "Morrigan Quill is one of Hell’s bounty hunters". What more do you need?! Praise be NetGalley Gods or I would have waited a good amount before getting this in my greedy hands. So, since I'm praising NG, you've probably gathered that I really liked this one. I can't say it was groundbreaking or flawless but much like a raw diamond even if it's not faceted it's still attention grabbing.

Maccus is a fallen angel. He has survived millennia and has honed his skills to the umpteen degree. After getting so powerful that even Lucifer cast him out of Hell he carves a place for himself on Earth and only wants to be left in peace. But when Heaven comes knocking in the form of Gabriel and an assassination contact he gets entangled despite himself. Maccus is the quintessential fallen angle. Tortured and holding on to his soul by the skin of his teeth.

Morrigan Quill sacrificed herself to save her sister. She sold her soul to Lucifer and now is in his service as a bounty hunter. She retrieves wayward demons that overstay their welcome on Earth and sends them back to hell. Morrigan has literally gone to Hell and back. Surviving the bounty boot camp and the demons she hunts, she has become a badass bounty hunter intent on completing her missions and finally getting out of the contract with Lucifer. If she dies in his service her soul is his to keep and torture for eternity. When Lucifer gives her a target to kill she can't say no even if she's not an assassin.

I found it rather fun, the couple didn't take long to get it on and I really liked all the players and their strengths and abilities. With dual POV and some small chapters from the baddie POV, there was no misunderstandings or dramas, no overdrawn situations or endless volumes of worldbuilding. . The rumpy pumpy was maybe a bit too frequent but it was scorching. Some of the revelations were predictable but the ending was very satisfying and sets up the next book. Overall a pretty entertaining first book. I can't wait to see where N.J.Walters takes us next.

What happened when an Assassin Fallen Angel and Hell's Bounty Hunter met? You get a fast paced, with lots of sexy times in Fury Unleashed. This is the latest series by N.J Walters which has the potential to be as popular as her other series which I enjoyed like Salvation Pack, Legacy and Blood of the Drakon.

Maccus is our Fallen Angel and he's been contracted by Gabriel to kill Morrigan who is bound for 25 years by Lucifer to be Hell's Bounty Hunter. To make the premise interesting, Lucifer in return ordered Morrigan to find and kill Maccus by any means necessary. Sounds easy? Not when both Maccus and Morrigan found themselves to be attracted to each other and all they want to do is get into each other's pants instead of the directives that was given to them.

On the whole I enjoyed Fury Unleashed but then again, I've always enjoyed N.J Walters' works. I would love to have more detailed world building, to be honest, I expected it as much being this is the first book of the series. Usually authors would laden us with loads of backstory, secondary characters etc. However, not so much in this book but that didn't put me off. Having met the Forgotten Brotherhood, I couldn't wait to read their individual stories.

I was lucky enough to received this copy from Netgalley, however, the views above are all my own.

Steamy paranormal romance of an unlikely pair that are fighting the age old battle of good verses evil, heaven verses hell.

This was my first time reading a N.J Walters book and I am glad that I did. Although there were some things that fell short for me and some missteps in my opinion, I am excited for the series to continue. This book reminded me a little ( a mean a little) of Supernatural meets the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. It just had that BDB vibe, except for instead of vampires its angels and demons!

In a urban setting, a fallen angel and a demon bounty hunter soon find themselves crossing paths for the similar reasons. With the idea of how far will you go for the ones you love, this book has an ending that I didn't see coming. There was sexy time, fighting with some pretty bad ass weapons and or course some sassy characters!

The story was told from the perspective of multiple of the characters so you get to see their internal processing and thought stream/reasoning. The main characters fell a little flat and I wanted more from them at times, but they are my favorite combination. The big, bruiting, take no names, scarred male with a snarky, independent and strong woman! I adored Morrigan and she is definitely a fierce female. Throughout all she has faced and endured she still cares so much and it was wonderful. Then there was Maccus who is a sexy fallen angel that has been around for thousands of year and has a scary representation. What she does to him makes me so soft and I just want to hug him!

The different situations they had to go through and the decisions they had to make was well done and you could really feel for them on how they were feeling and the pull inside themselves. The whole storyline between Morrigan and her sister was intriguing. It really allowed for you to see her motivations and overall type of person she was. And how she was able to do what she did

Now lets talk about those side characters. I wanted so much more from Lucifer and Gabriel. I love what Walters did with them and the scenes that they are in! I wish we could have seen more from them and gotten a little more of their backstories and how the issues that came up came about.

It took me awhile to really get into the world. I thought it took Walters some time to really paint that bigger picture and show the world building. I was wanting so much more from the world building. I know paranormal romances are usually about the romance. But this story concept has so much potential and is not something I have read before.

I did also struggle with the fact that we jumped into the steamy moments almost instantly. Be prepared for a lot of HOT scenes! (like they have sex A LOT!) Don't get me wrong they were great, but felt a little "insta-coupley" for me.

There was some explanation to the reasonings for a lot of things, but I felt like I was told it instead of shown it. The story dragged at times and there were times I felt like the characters internal dialogue was repetitive and it stated the same thing multiple times at different points in the books.

If you read this whole review you will see I am a little all over the place. Overall this was a quick and steamy story that left me wanting more. I cannot see what the next book has in story and have hopes that it will be even better and see our couple pop up again. The book was a little predictable but that ending came out of nowhere and shocked me. It was not how I saw it ending. There were some things that I wish were done differently or better developed, but I loved where the story was going and the overall idea. How could you not want to read a book about fallen angels, angels and demons.

Marcus is a fallen angel turned assassin and Morrigan is a former human turned hell’s bounty hunter. They are supposed to kill one another but instead join forces to defeat their enemies Gabriel and Lucifer. Sometimes a bit confusing since this is a complicated world and there are missing pieces that aren’t dealt with especially with Maccus. Hopefully more will be revealed with subsequent books in the series. Morrigan is a kick ass heroine and my favorite in the book. Big surprise reveal at the end explained a lot. A great start to a new series.
