This is the first book I've read by Robert Masello and it definitely wont be the last. I enjoyed it from start to finish and couldn't put it down. I just couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next. Will certainly be on the lookout for more of Robert's books. Its always good to find a new author.
I had not read any of Robert Masellos books before and it looked intriguing enough to give it a go - am very pleased that I did.
It's mixture of fact and fiction with people who were alive during this period featuring in the story,
The story flowed really well and didn't shy away from the dreadful realities of WWI, But on saying that it's not a depressing read, but very intriguing one. I loved it.
Overall a good read.
I have to say this book doesn't make much sense until you have read quite far into it which I feel may put some people off. It is an interesting mix of fact and fiction and it does have a worthwhile ending if you stick with it.
H. G. Wells is already an acclaimed writer when he sent to the Western Front in 1914. There are rumors that a band of angels descended from heaven to fight alongside the British troops. Is there any way such a ludicrous story could be true. What he finds is a land forsaken by the living and the dead. Instead Wells finds himself caught up in a conspiracy that could change the fate of the world. Masello has the most original, unique storylines and the ability to make them seem real
