This was pretty simple but still it was well done. The pictures are simple yet colorful. Kids will love counting along and seeing all the animals.

You can never have too many counting books, and the adorable illustrations in this one make it a winner. The important thing when reading this one is to listen carefully to what they are counting, so it is also a good story to work on attention to detail. My 3 year old granddaughter liked it and asked me to read it again. My 6 year old grandson was able to read it to her, so that is always a big positive. As I said earlier, the illustrations are wonderful and we spent some time talking about them as well. One I definitely recommend to families, preschools and public libraries.

This is a really cute little counting book with bright, colorful illustrations of adorable animals to count. It could be a little confusing at times, however- while the text mentions counting the baby animals, the adult animal is also on the page, and young ones might count that animal too, in particular the illustration with the fish. If an adult is reading along with the child (which will likely be the case), this can easily be cleared up. The illustrations are my favorite part, so sweet!

I really enjoyed the illustration style in this children's counting book, but I my son was frustrated when he would try to count all the animals on the page, and would come up with one more than was requested. Especially on the fish page, where a fish is out of water, but isn't supposed to be counted with the swimming fish. All together a cute counting book, but lacking a bit of polishing around execution.

You can never have too many counting books in your home library and here is a new one to add to your collection. This is a cute counting book with adorable illustrations. The counting is simple; the numbers and animals learned throughout the book are reiterated on the last page to reinforce what was learned.

My 3.5 year old and I read this book before bed and we had lots of fun counting along with Lily and Milo. A great way to make numbers fun for children with lovely colourful illustrations too.

My granddaughter is a huge fan of any kind of animals and this book was a big hit! The illustrations, the simple story of going for a walk with a friend and discovering animals on the way, and counting them up is fun.
It was easy for her to relate and I will be purchasing copies for my friend's children.
Thanks to NetGalley, Clavis Publishing and Pauline Oud for the chance to read this book for a fair and honest review.

The "Lily and Milo" series books are perfect for wee ones with their simple colourful illustrations and their focus on language development.

Lily, an adorable little bunny, and Milo a too-cute tiny mouse take a stroll through the meadow and on their journey they encounter a variety of animals as they go. They invite the readers to count the animals along with them. They observe cows and calves, sheep with their lambs, a mommy bird with her baby birds, a cat with kittens, a chicken with eggs in a nest , a mommy duck and her ducklings swimming in a pond, a pig feeding her piglets, a skyful of butterflies, and multiple fish swimming underwater. I love the surprise at the end of book and kids will too. Nope, no spoiler from me, read and discover what it is yourself.

I highly recommend this book as it is well-done both in it's storyline presentation and it's delightful artwork. Who knew that counting from 1-10 could be so much fun?

This children's book was so cute for my son. I read this over and over to him. He’s 4 and a half months old so I do believe that the more I read to him the easier it will be for him to learn things as he gets older. I can’t wait for more.

This is such a fun book for toddlers learning to count and for those learning about animals. It’s be such a fun book to read out loud and have the kids tell you what number or animal matches!

My daughter thought it was cute. It was a bit above her level, but she liked the illustrations and the rhythm of the book. Made for an easy bedtime read.

While the illustrations and premise may look really simple, this is a surprisingly well-done counting book for toddlers.

Lily (a rabbit) and Milo (a mouse) go for a walk in the meadow. They encounter lots of critters and proceed to count them. Each spread is devoted to a number, and readers are encouraged to count the animals along with Lily and Milo.

If I have one complaint, it's that the adult reading the book really needs to be paying attention or there could be some confusion when it comes time to count. For example, on one page the reader is encouraged to count the "swimming fish". There are supposed to be ten, but there's also technically one more fish that's leaping out of the water, bringing the count to eleven. (The same sort of thing happens with mother animals and their babies; readers are told to count just the babies, but since the mother is also depicted in the spread, there might be some confusion.) Hopefully, kids' literal thinking will take care of this problem. Who knows? Maybe it's just something I noticed as an adult.

The text is technically strong and the illustrations are fairly clear (other than the previously mentioned issue). This is probably one of the stronger counting books I've read recently.

Little children love to count. They also love animals, especially baby animals. This sweet Lily and Milo book has both. This is a wonderful little book for young children. Illustrations are beautiful and simple. Highly recommend this book for toddlers!
