It's a book club with a murderous twist - isn't that the best kind?
This one really kept me guessing and entertained. I really enjoyed it and will look out for other works by this author.
This was a meh book for me. I struggle with the number of characters in it. I found myself putting this book down and not excited to read it. I think it was the pacing and the number of characters that didn't hit me. Also the ending was super predictable.
Read/Reviewed a long time ago. Was not updated here
Very different book from others that I’ve read by this author but just as awesome. This book was so good I had a hard time putting it down. It was like reading a really good true crime novel. The book was so well written I felt like I was there seeing it all unfold.
Anything Gina writes, I love. This book is no exception. The twists and turns of trying to find out "who done it" kept me reading the book far into the night. I definitely recommend this book!
This latest book from Gina LaManna is incredible! If you like Women's Fiction, this is a great book for you.
Thanks to #NetGalley.
I didn't finish this book since the plot was the usual I read. Giving it 2 stasr which I normally don't do very often. I couldn't get into this book at all and only got to page 50 or so which is my normal page for stopping on a book I didn't like.
Slow! So stinking slow with no content to make me want to hang around. I had a really hard time with this book. I rate it a 1.2
This book was definitely a page turner! First time reading this author and she did not disappoint! Can not wait for her next book!
Three Single Wives was a fun, fast paced mystery. Told from several perspectives, this one keeps the reader guessing. Perfect for fan of Desperate Housewives and strong sassy women. The last line of this book made me chortle! Juicy read, perfect for the beach.
Found this one engaging and it kept my attention and tickled my curiosity, despite the POV chapters getting long-winded and stuffy at times. The transcript chapters kept things flowing, reviving the suspense many a time and thus keeping this book going.
Especially enjoyed that this was set in LA and not the (usual/regular for me lately) UK big town, and the development of the plot reminds me of those iTV crime dramas I love to follow.
All in all, not bad, even though it does drag a bit at times
Book clubs, wine, three women and a dead husband. If your interest is piqued, then Gina LaManna's latest mystery/thriller, Three Single Wives, won't disappoint.
Three Single Wives, set in Los Angelos, is the tale of three women, their friendship, challenges in their lives and murder.
Eliza Tate, wealthy, career-driven publistist, is married to the handsome Roman Tate. Roman, a bit player in L.A., is now an acting coach where 26 year old, Iowa native, Penny Sands, takes acting classes. Penny has hopes of becoming an actress and takes the biggest risk of her young life as she heads to Hollywood with all of her possessions in one tiny suitcase to her name,
Penny finds that making it in Hollywood requires more money that she came with and needing to make extra money, Roman gets her a job as a babysitter to the children of Eliza's best friend, Anne Wilkes.
Anne, a housewife and mother of four young children, is married to LAPD detective, Mark Wilkes. Anne finds herself in need of a babysitter as she suspects her husband of spending time elsewhere and Anne becomes a private detective in need of answers.
Three women and now three lives intwined together. One wine laced afternoon together with author Marguerite Hill, has all three women discussing murder and how to get away with the "perfect" crime.
While one discussion might lead to another discussion, this one leads to an actual murder of one of the husbands.
LaManna takes the reader back nine months to see how it all began with a story that is filled with all the twists and turns to make this an enjoyable afternoon read or a new book club suggestion with maybe a disclaimer beforehand.
I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark. #NetGalley #TheeSingleWives
I meant to read this book before it was released, but it got lost in my TBR pile-- which is weird because LOOK AT THAT COVER! I love the shards of glass, the blue and purple. Anyway, a book is not its cover, so let's dive into Three Single Wives.
This novel is pretty much exactly what you'd expect, based on the synopsis and genre. The writing is good enough, though I found most of the characters to have similar voices, which sometimes made it difficult to follow the action because I kept having to go back to see whose POV we were in at any given time. I didn't see the twist coming until a few chapters before it was revealed, so props there, though...
(mild spoilers ahead)
I think it was a bit anticlimactic since the murderer wasn't really a huge presence in the book and didn't have much skin in the game.
In the end, it was an entertaining read, though not exactly a stand out.
This is my favorite Gina LaManna work thus far! The book is a light, fun, and enjoyable read, with plot twists and good character development. The story begins at a book pre-launch party where the conversation about taking control of one's life quickly turns to revenge and murder. The chapters alternate between the months leading up to the murder, and court proceedings - which prove to be very entertaining and add details that will keep you guessing to the end. Three Single Wives is a great match for my book club because we members not only appreciate a glass wine with our conversations but look for upbeat and entertaining publications.
Thanks to LaManna Books and NetGalley for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.
⭐⭐⭐💫
An enjoyable fast read.
When I saw a book club, wine and getting revenge on a man I just had to read it.
Although I enjoyed the read there were a few things that bothered me.
The title for 1. All in all its the story of 4 women and only 2 were married. I think it could have done with more meat as well.
It's a story about women taking charge of their own lives. Each 1 struggling in her way. Did they plot to get rid of 1 of the thorns in their side or was 1 of them pushed too far?
The ending was interesting and I didn't see that coming.
Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion
Everyone in this book sucks in their own way, and that is meant as a compliment. The characters are written so strongly that you really get a sense of who they are and it feels like judging real people (one of my favorite hobbies!) If you like books about deceitful, devious women and men getting what they deserve, this is the book for you.
I adored this fast paced read. Kept me guessing throughout the book. I realised who had done it just before the reveal and loved it!
I found this one to be a bit boring with annoying characters. There is a murder and the question is who did it and why.I didn’t guess who the murderer was. The three characters are interconnected and I think this was a good concept, but didn’t work out for me overall.
This is a difficult book to rate and review. I really liked the plot and was invested in the story itself. However, the writing was rather stilted at times.
I liked the female empowerment of the women and I enjoyed the dark and twisty elements. This is a solid choice for the genre and would be a fun book club pick. I think one further round of editing and revising would have elevated it up a star for me.
Thank you to the publisher for a complimentary copy.
I loved this one. Such a fantastic thriller. This one kept me guessing to the end and had a lot of twists and turns that I didn't see coming. Highly recommend for fans of the genre!
I loved this book. Never gave me a clue as to what was going to happen and everything was unexpected. I never seen the plot twists coming but enjoyed them immensely!
