3 women meet for a bookclub and a husband winds up dead. Each has a reason to want him dead but who did it? The wife who is tired of his infidelity? The pregnant mistress? Or the friend that has secrets she wants kept? A story that leaves you guessing.
What a fantastic, edge-of-your-seat thrill ride. The plot twists and turns were so delicious! I found this incredibly hard to put down and did stay up way past my bedtime trying to finish it. My first LaManna book but it won't be my last!

A book club where murder is discussed? Sign me up! “Three single wives” is a tale of murder with a touch of sorority between three unlikely allies.
The story is told through the three main characters alternating POVs, Eliza, Penny and Anne. Before each chapter there’s a transcript of the murder trial where we don’t get to know who the victim is till halfway through (this seems to be a trend lately), although it wasn’t difficult to guess who it was.
It took me a while to get into the story and the main reason was all three women started out as pretty unsympathetic characters, although I must confess that as the story unfolded they all grew up on me, flawed as they all were.
With a first half a bit more slow where we get to know the characters while all the puzzle pieces are set, the second half picks up the pace and was much stronger imo. With several red herrings thrown around you will keep guessing and doubting every single character. I chose one suspect early on and for once I was right, although the end fell a bit flat for me as the book ended pretty abruptly and I would have liked to read a bit more about the aftermath.

Three Simgle Wives is an excellent suspenseful read. Three women form a friendship with complex ties to one another. One man is the epicenter of their focus. Readers aren't even told which of husbands gets killed until well into the book. Readers will then wonder which wife committed the act. I had to keep reading to find out for myself. The scene with the baby monitor is one of the best in the book. Don't miss out on the three crafty women.
In this thriller you are not sure whether you love or hate the characters! But no matter how you feel about them, you are definitely in for a ride!!
Three female stereotypes: Penny- the starry eyed ingenue, Eliza- the hard nosed business woman, and Anna- the sweet but harried housewife, show hidden depths and hard cores as they overcome challenges and seek revenge on those that strike against them.
A fun tale that keeps readers on their toes as not only the outcome, but the core of the mystery itself, is eked out slowly through police interviews and the characters own voices. Beach reading perfection
”Was it possible that their dirty little secrets were about to become very big twisted truths?”
Three Single Wives is sort of a “who died?” and “whodunit?” all mixed into one suspenseful thriller. It starts at a book club meeting between the main characters, Eliza, Anne, and Penny. Then goes on to rotate between past POV’s of the three main characters, and police interviews between a handful of characters the days after the murder. Yes, there is a murder, but as the reader we start out not knowing who is dead or who killed them. There is a lot of finger pointing between characters, and honestly I had no clue who to truly trust. I spent the first half of the book confused at all the allusions to the deceased, and trying to figure out something that I wasn’t meant to know yet.
The second half of the book I was rapidly turning the pages to figure out who the heck the killer was and why they did it. I can honestly say, that while this person did signal my spider senses a couple of times, I really did not think that in the end they would be the killer. I think that Gina LaManna did an excellent job placing definite clues and misdirecting the reader, while also placing stealthy red herrings, and telling the flawed and rollercoaster stories of these three women. These women are connected in some unusual ways, but you see how even though they shouldn’t form a bond, they do.
This read is entertaining and will keep you guessing and questioning until the very end. You may find yourself invested in the main characters no matter how flawed and morally gray they are, and thinking that even if they did murder the deceased, maybe they should be allowed to get away with it. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys domestic suspense, and unlikely friendships between women in different stages of life.
Who murdered Roman?
Roman is one of those men that can easily manipulate woman - he knows just what to say and flirts to get what he wants. But who wants him dead?
Eliza? The wife that suspects Roman of having an affair?
Anne? Eliza's bestie who suspects her own husband of having an affair?
Penny? Newest to the friend circle, but with enough secrets of her own?
Step by step, secrets are revealed and the true identity of the killer is kept until just the perfect moment.
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this and give my honest opinion.
Excellent Who Done It.
The story starts out with a murder and the rest of the book is told in flashbacks of one month increments leading up to the murder and interrogations during the trial.
Eliza and Anne were college roommates and have been best friends since. Their lives have taken different paths, each with their own problems. Anne is the mother of four small children who believes her Police officer husband is having an affair. Eliza is the bread winner in her marriage and she is in financial strain when she loses her job and then comes to know her husband is also having an affair. Roman Tate, the murder victim and Eliza's husband, is a charmer and a flirt. He will stop at nothing to get what he wants including lying, cheating, and even blackmailing. The woman, along with their new young friend Penny, a not so innocent Hollywood transplant, form a book club to promote Eliza's clients book. During said book club the discussion of murder takes place, all in the hypothetical. But when Roman's body is found all are left with the question, who actually did it?
The book took a chapter or two to get used to all the back and forth, but I was so glad I kept reading. The story took on many twists and turns and left me guessing until the end. If you like a great suspense, this. book is for you.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is definitely an OMG book!!! Going into the story, you know someone is going to end up dead. You know that one of these four women is the killer. The rest is up for grabs!!!! While it does remind you of Big Little Lies, the story is original and the characters are definitely original. All have the "perfect" life and would never be suspected of murder, but someone did it. The pacing of the story is fast. You switch from one woman's story to another one quickly, with a police report added now and then to keep you guessing. The ending? That's where the OMG comes in!
I really enjoyed this one. I thought the writing style was sleek, stylish and I thought the plot was well executed. I also enjoyed the court excerpts and it kept me guessing throughout. A fun read that I'll be recommending for a while.
Wow! Great book! Definitely kept my interest, and I was invested in all three main female characters. Good twists and turns, and I like a book where it starts with people in normal situations, and then takes you on a story that is suspenseful and surprising!
This was a fantastic, twisty tale revolving around three women and the death of one of their husbands.
It had me on the edge of my seat as I tried to guess who could have been the murderer. About half way though, I had the idea of who I thought it was (I ended up being right), however I kept getting tricked and changing my mind!
Overall, I really enjoyed this story and the way it was told.
Thanks to NetGalley, publisher and author for allowing me to read a copy of this book. This is a new author for me and I'm impressed! Three friends, Eliza, Penny and Anne, get together for book club. Sounds harmless enough, except somebody dies. Everybody is a suspect with a strong motive. My favorite part is, I did not suspect the truth until almost the end. One of the best lines I've read in a book happens at the end and it is hilarious. I definitely look forward to reading more from this author.
Anne Wilkes, Eliza Tate, and Penny Sands arrive at their book club armed with their books, wine and secrets. By the end of the night one of their cheating husbands is dead.
This book is told in alternating voices between Anne, Eliza and Penny, all telling the story from past to present, interspersed with police reports from the investigation. At first you don't even know which husband is dead, and then as the information is slowly doled out you find out the victim but all three women have motive. This book was SO good. I couldn't put it down. If you are a fan of books like Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty then this is the perfect book for you.
Three Single Wives by Gina LaManna is a twisty tale with a clever spin on the familiar plot of revenge. The narrative is well-paced, and I was propelled through the storyline with a high degree of engagement.
It all begins with what, by all outward appearances, is a benign book club meeting. Anne, Eliza, and Penny are imbibing in their usual wine and chatter when the subject of a philandering husband is introduced into the conversation. The topic then turns to thoughts on the best way to kill such a spouse, and by the end of the evening someone is dead.
Told from the alternating perspectives of each of the women, and with brief excerpts of police transcripts, the secrets that have been hidden are slowly unravelled and exposed. While I did not particularly connect nor empathize with any of the women, their story is one that will keep you guessing.
Many thanks to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS - Landmark for this ARC.
Three Single Wives is a very entertaining read that I just loved.
One dead body after a vociferous discussion at the book club !
Who was the murderer?
The book is told from different points of view, all the characters had flaws which endeared them to me .
Can you guess the ending? I could not.
Great read, cant wait to get a copy.
Thanks to NetGalley, Sourcebooks Landmark for allowing me to try and figure out who did it!!!
Thanks to Netgalley for the advanced reader copy in exchange for a fair review.
This was just okay for me. The plot was meh and it wasn’t unlike anything else.
Three women, two of them married and one deceased tool of a husband with literally every character having a motive to murder! This is the plot of Three Single Wives by Gina LaManna and I loved every second of it! I’d spend one chapter of the book thinking one of the characters was most certainly the murderer only to change my mind in the next chapter. Guessing, guessing, and more guessing as I turned the pages! As I’ve said before, if you can keep me guessing, you’ll keep me reading and more than likely make me a fan for life!
Each chapter starts with a court transcript of the Prosecution questioning the woman the chapter is narrated by, which is one of three women the story follows. I’ll forgo rehashing the summary, you can read this on your own. The characters are finely tuned and emotive, each with their own back history making them vulnerable to the murder victim. The plot is tight, it is twisty and it wraps up beautifully! The ending left me with a deeply satisfied sigh that I don’t always get in some of the more open-ended books and I’m left to my own conclusions. Three Single Wives is a clever thriller with a mystery at heart and I look forward to reading more from Ms. LaManna.

Thank you to Source Books for the copy of Three Single Wives for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book. Told from multiple POVs three women have a night of too much drinking and story telling, only to find that in the morning there is a dead body and everyone is a suspect. Maybe it isn't such a great idea to drink, and "pretend" plot a murder and talk about "how to". So when a little harmless fun becomes a reality their worlds are turned upside down. The switch between POVs was well executed. The characters were very likable and not too dramatized, and the author added little quirks to each of them to throw you off the "who done it" trail, which I really liked. The chapters were good, and not too long with some court type/transcript which kept it flowing, and allowing for more secrets to come out as well. Three Single Wives kept me guessing until the end, and I thought I had it figured out but was pleasantly surprised! A solid 4 stars for me! Thank you so much again at sourcebooks and netgalley for the copy.
