It was okay, i liked Claire but all those emails that Mia and Donna sendt was tiredsome and ended up being annoying in the long run.

The second in a series and you should absolutely start in book one in this series and I may say things that are spoilers for book one in the review below.

Claire Conroy is a mom of two with an estranged husband who is out of the home and he is not really helpful when it comes to his children and responsibilities. Claire is trying to pick up the pieces and create a new and better life for her and her children. She is looking for a part time job that can help keep her kids in their childhood home and is also a part of the PTA which is a job in and of itself! This PTA is extra and the members are beyond drama and while I am not a mom, I love to read these books and watch the drama unfold like a trainwreck!

I loved that the author uses emails to add to the story. The emails are sent and forwarded amongst the ladies and it provides humor and information to the reader to help make the story seem so much more full. I like this format where emails are within the story, but they don't make up the whole way the novel is written.

I enjoyed this one, but definitely couldn't read this series in a row as the petty drama can only be enjoyed in doses! So I will be reviewing the rest of this series throughout today, but I spaced these books out amongst my other reading.

Although Mom Genes is the second book in the series, and I didn't read the first one, both happen around the same time period, so it doesn't really affect your enjoyment of the book.

In this installment, Claire, who is newly divorced and still trying to navigate through the gossip, is managing her new role in life while she's still involved in the PTA, and surrounded by all of the PTA Momma Drama...complete with gossip, backstabbing, rumors galore, etc. There are hysterical moments and you can't help root for Claire!

Perfect chick lit! I loved the premise and the characters were well developed! I recommend this for anyone looking for a light and fun read!

Every suburban neighborhood in America has its share of mama-drama and Grossman does a great job of humorously taking us into that genre and making this a fun read! Escape reading at its best when we all need some lighthearted page turning! Thank you for the advance copy! As always will be reading all the future books from this author!

Good book. Entertaining and funny Story about how crazy parents get. This is “Mean Girls” taken to another level by cutthroat, social climbing PTA moms.

THis is just the kind of book that pulls you in quickly and that you can’t put down. Claire Conroy is reeling from the departure of her husbands Kevin and the end of their marriage. With Kevin showing his true color and being totally horrible, Claire is left to support her three children through the difficult time. Fortunately, she has Jake, Kevin’s friend whom he’s known forever, and her family, including her hilarious grandmother GiGi. It turns out that she also has her fellow PTA moms. This is a pretty predictable story, but I love the characters and how they are portrayed. I loved the female friendships. I am eager to read the upcoming Mom Boss. I hope Kevin and Donna are dealt with more.

I feel great to have found a new author to binge on!

This one was funny! Some of the situations make me happy I'm not a mom. The description of BLL meets Class Mom is fairly accurate!

I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own.

Who knew the PTA could have so much backstabbing and intrigue. This was a fun read but I wanted so badly to tell some of these women to get a life and get over themselves. I enjoyed the book but I wouldn't be able to stand actually putting up with the drama.

Claire Conroy's marriage has imploded and the rumour mill of moms at Forest River Elementary School are abuzz with gossip - whether any of it is remotely true or not is not a factor.

Behind the carefully curated, picture-perfect existence each woman tries to uphold hides a normal woman, vulnerable to being hurt, betrayed and other realities life throws at them..

Interspersed with emails from a well meaning friend who adds drama to Claire's life by forwarding her the gossip, we travel along Claire's path dealing with the bitchiness of other moms, her insensitive ex-husband and her attempt to find herself.

The story seems to run along the same time period as the first book in this "series" - "Go On Girl". Its not necessary to have read the first book, but it may give you a bit more insight into the group dynamics of the PTA ladies if you have. Judging by the author's note it seems we may soon travel back to Forest River to delve into another PTA mom's world.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me the chance to read this book.

”Now when Clarie returns home from a trip to Italy separated from her husband of thirteen years, the imaginations of the Lululemon-clad ladies’ who lunch spin into overdrive.” This book was fun, light, entertaining and a fast read! I loved the humor from the gossipy strategical PTA moms of Forest River Elementary School. It gave me Big Little Lies meets A Simple favor vibes. I picked up this book initially from the description but halfway through the book I realized that author Hilary Grossman made this a sequel to book ’Go On Girl.’ Without even reading the first one you got a sense of who the characters were and their backstory so if you're like me and read it backward (oops 🤦🏻‍♀️🤪) you'll still be able to understand what is going on! Thank you to @Netgalley and @ for allowing me to read this early readers’ copy in exchange for an honest review.

Don't forget to keep an eye out for #3 in this series ’Mom Boss’ that gets released Feb 15th, 2021!

5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This one was just okay. I am sure there are extreme examples of these moms in real life, but most of their conversations and actions feel so unbelievable and silly to me. Like how a middle schooler might envision life as a mom with drama would be. I had so many questions of common sense...like why did the main character have such a hard time just telling people that the guy she is rumored to have had an affair with is actually her relative. Instead she had to stage some odd public scene at her kid's performance where her mom and sister actually revealed the truth. So weird and unnecessary.

Generic at best. The writing is plain, the characters predictable and the story lacklustre. This book did not even pull a smile out of me.

Found this book very confusing to follow especially because there were just so many people being mentioned and nothing made them distinctive so it was like 'Who? What?" throughout. Also gave me the feeling of having been parachuted into the middle of an intrigue but without giving me any way to grasp who's who... A lot like coming to a TV show in season 2 when not having watched season 1. Again, if this had been on TV, maybe the people would've been more distinctive, but this read like the reader should already know who these people are and how to differentiate them, and that was utterly confusing

Mom Genes is a perfect, escapist read. Excellent writing, vivid characters and a cozy familiar plot want to make you curl up on the sofa with a warm throw and a cup of tea and enter the world of Claire Conway.

Claire is negotiating the cutthroat politics of Forest River Elementary School, reacting to a recent separation from her husband, helping her children adjust to life without their father and entering the mystifying world of online dating. She’s also trying to find a part time job and deal with unwanted advice from her grandmother. In the midst of this perfect storm, she discovers who her true friends are.

You will root for Claire to succeed and find happiness. I did. Mom Genes is a standalone but part of a Forest River PTA Moms series. I’m looking to Hilary Grossman’s next. 5 stars.

Thanks to NetGalley and Hilary Grossman for this ARC.

In Mom Genes, the second book of the Forest River PTA Moms series, the reader is transported back to Forest River, NY, where they catch up with the lives of the PTA moms. In this installment, the focus is on thirty-nine year old stay-at-home mom, Claire Conroy.

After thirteen years of marriage, Claire and husband Kevin's marriage hasn't been going well for some time, and they decide to separate. The tongues start wagging in this small town, rumors abound that Claire has been unfaithful, espcially after ex-PTA mom Donna Warren sets her sights on bringing Claire down with her non-stop gossip in front of the whole town! Claire is determined to start fresh as a single mom of three kids by finding a job, and even trying the dating scene, but it's not easy when the spotlight is always on her, so what's a girl got to do to find happiness?

Mom Genes is a humorous chick lit/women's fiction story that explores the complexity of living in the suburbs and dramatizes the relationships within the cutthroat world of suburban PTA moms.

I loved reading Mom Genes! This was such a fun story, you can't help but lose yourself in the drama and cutthroat parental politics that Claire encounters from the members of the small town Forest River PTA. With a lot of eye-rolling, smirking, and outright snickering, I really enjoyed following Claire and her co-PTA members as they ruled the roost at Forest River Elementary. It was fun to watch as Claire navigated through the trials and tribulations as she started her life over as a newly-single working mom. So pull up a chair and follow Claire as she finds her footing while dealing with the petty parental politics of the Forest River PTA, and the mean girl rumors that circulate throughout the community. With the help of some of the PTA moms, Claire gains self-confidence, while embracing the bonds of close girlfriends that she never thought she would ever have, and even a second chance at finding romance.

I can't wait to read Boss Mom, the third installment in the Forest River PTA Moms series. In that book, the reader will follow PTA President Jackie Martin's story. The publication date for the third book in the series is set for February 15, 2021, so don't forget to put that on your TBR list!

Mom Genes is a wonderful story of family, the invaluable bonds of friendships, and the ability to make it through anything that life throws at you along the way.

I did not read the first book in this series, but found this one to stand alone just fine! Mom Genes was a hilarious and quick read. I try to avoid the real life PTA/parent drama at all costs, so I absolutely love getting my fill of that side of parenting from books. I really enjoyed the characters and the laughs were greatly appreciated!

Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and Hilary Grossman for an ARC of Mom Genes in exchange for my honest opinions.

This story made me laugh. The PTA members of Forrest River school are meddling and full of gossip and drama. They are now focused on fellow member Claire's love life. The whole town is talking about how she came back from a trip to Italy with her husband and 3 children separated and divorced. Then a new man moved into her house soon after. What a scandle. Claire let's them gossip for a bit before breaking the news to them who this new man really is. (I laughed at this part when she reveals it).

This is a follow up book to "Go on, Girl", which I haven't read yet. If you read this book, I recommend reading it after reading the first book so you don't miss any introduction to the characters. I

Overall, this was a pretty good humorous read. #netgalley, #momgenes

I didn’t realise this was a book as part of a series but it read well as a standalone book.

Claire has a very supportive family surrounding her, but is also a member of the dreaded PTA. This is a light hearted quirky read about life as a mother and a member of the school PTA
