Nice little book for dipping into for a happy boost. There are lots of quotes and snippets of information along with lots of thinks you can do. Admittedly most of them are not new but the presentation and element of 'lucky dip' when you open the book make it worthwhile. It would make a nice gift book as a boost for someone special.
i am really struggling with life lately, so when i saw this on netgalley i jumped on it. unfortunately, maybe i am too cynical, but it didn't really work for me like i wanted it to. i think out of 400 things, there were only like 5 that i hadn't heard before or thought of before. i do so many of the things mentioned, but still not 'happy' so i was hoping there would be lots of things i hadn't thought of or new ideas, new things i could do to get through this crappy place in my life, but unfortunately, not really. also, there were some that rubbed me the wrong way, or reminded me of lots of areas in my life i am lacking. again, that is very likely my current attitude/situation, not the book.
i don't know how to articulate it well, but basically i went into it expecting more of a self-help kind of book geared towards someone possibly dealing with depression or going through a really tough spot in life... but it was more like, had a bad day, do one of these things! it was a cute book with lots of fun ideas and would make a cute gift or coffee table kind of book, but not what i was expecting or what i personally wanted/needed.
Whatever You Do, Be Happy by Julia Dellitt is an uplifting read that is full to the brim with inspirational quotes and numerous tips toward manifesting happiness in everyday life. While some of the suggestions might seem to be obvious, all are great reminders of the responsibility of achieving one's own happiness. A light and positive read.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Adams Media for this ARC.
I liked this book's design and the different quotes but the advice got rather repetitive towards the end.
Whatever you do, Be Happy by author Julia Dellitt is a bright and fun book! Be happy!
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
