If you had a happy childhood and had the chance to buy your old family home to move your family into, would you? That’s exactly the opportunity that Thea and Drew are presented with and they go for it. While moving back to the old family home thrills Thea more than she thought, she comes to find that the locals seem to be so abrupt and rude to her once they realize who she is. What did she ever do to them?
Thea finds out what the words behind the whispers are and must face the past she wasn’t even aware of. Eventually Thea knows that she must come to terms with the gossip and do what is best for her family while remaining true to herself and the past.
A great story filled with the mean girls we all know in adulthood and the courage of one woman to face them down and try to bring about change that will help everyone in the community heal and become even closer in the long run. A page turner that will have you on the edge of your seat at times, while cheering Thea on the entire time.
Addictive, emotional read...
My Husbands Lies wasn't what I expected from the title, but the book itself didn't disappoint.
It starts with Thea and Drew, looking back both blaming themselves for moving back, questioning and leaving blame on who's fault it was they returned to the village.
Rewind prior to the move.. They were excited to be leaving London, reminiscing on their own childhoods, hoping they could have the same for their girls. Soon after arriving, things didn't feel right, gradually things began to unravel... their new lives were not going to plan.
It's well written, flows nicely. I've not read any books by this author before, but definitely would again. Didn't really want to put down until I'd finished ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A satisfactory read which was a little disappointing. No where near as gripping as I expected.
Have not posted publicly as I don’t want to discredit this author
I don’t like to give negative reviews, but this book wasn’t great. It was a very wordy book, but there weren’t enough words dedicated to the storyline.
When I hit 30-40%, I really wanted to just quit reading, but I kept going, hoping that it would get better.
While the story resolved, it resolved in such a weak fashion, I can’t give the book more than 2 stars.
On the positive side, the grammar and punctuation was great! I don’t think I saw any typos or errors. It was a well edited book.
My Husband’s Lie by author Emma Davies is yet another great book by this author! Gave me goosebumps and held my interest throughout, with a fast paced plot line.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
What a powerful and engrossing read!
I love this authors books of which are usually on the lighter side but this one is dark, suspenseful but oh so delightful. As a reader I couldn’t help but get caught up in the characters lives. I loved that Thea and Drew have known each other since they were children and have a strong and successful marriage. Their marriage is put under the test though when Thea finds out that Drew has been keeping something from her.
The setting couldn’t be anymore perfect for the story. A small village where everyone knows everyone else’s business and gossip spreads like wildfire. The welcome from the residents is not quite as welcoming as Thea or I for that matter, was expecting. There is definitely something a bit off which left me very intrigued as to why.
The author has created a story jam packed full of suspense. The friendship between Lauren and Tilly really captured me, making me care about these people that I was reading about. Friendship is something that comes across quite strongly with Thea, Drew and their friends from back home, Gerry and Rachel. As well as the friendship that Thea starts up with her next door neighbour.
My Husband’s Lie is a real page turner of a story. The authors writing consumed me whilst I lost myself into the story. There is a fair amount of drama which is filled to the brim with secrets and lies. My blood was boiling with the narrow mindedness of some of the villagers and there were parts that had me cheering Thea on. I absolutely loved this book. An engrossing, edge of your seat read.
I loved My Husbands Lie! (Although I don’t understand the title? Drew didn’t tell a lie)
Book was off to a good start by having a strong loving husband and wife pair. Too many thrillers have couples at each other’s throats so I really appreciated the change compared to other books I’ve read recently. Following Thea and her family as she moves back into her childhood home in a small village. The village life was written perfectly, I’ve lived in places like this and the tone was perfect.
Now this isn’t a fast paced story, it’s a little slow and without much action but the tension just doesn’t stop rising and it really is a fantastic book.
4/5.
