It’s ok. There’s not really much else to say. As with any group of stories some are good and some are weak. I found myself skipping over a couple because they just didn’t hold my attention at all

I didn't realize Silk and Leather was lesbian erotica when I requested a copy, but I can appreciate good writing in any genre. This was a mixed bag, as collections often are.

I received Silk and Leather from Bold Strokes Books via NetGalley. The opinions I have expressed are my own. There’s a wide varitey of stories in Silk and Leather: Lesbian Erotica with an Edge. Most of the authors in this anthology were new to me, and the stories are a good length to get a fair sampling of their different styles.

With everything from long term, committed relationships to quick and dirty hook-ups Silk and Leather explores them all. Top of my list is M. Ullrich’s Engagements and Kitty McIntosh’s Taking a Leap.

This anthology is a nice one to leave on your Kindle and read a story or two when you need a quick one.

A collection of stories. As is the case with a collection, some are enjoyed more than others. I am not a common reader of erotica but I thought I would check these out since they were short and varied. In general, each story was steamy and creamy with various degrees of intensity and edge. My eyes were opened and in my opinion, that is a good thing.

3 stars.

This wasn't my favorite collection—I felt like there was so much more room for intensity, and I expected something different when the tagline was "with an edge."

The stories varied in style and choice of "edge:" there are stories in the first person, with no names, with complicated relationship dynamics. At least half of the stories have BDSM elements.

WARNING: This next paragraph is going to get graphic.

I was bothered by the number of stories that featured strap-on sex, because it was presented as taboo and illicit versus a normal sex act. There were generally some other unique elements to those stories as well, but for the most part it felt like LESBIANS with FAKE DICKS was this novel and fetishized thing, when it really isn't. (Right? Not in the same way as bondage or leather clubs are.)

Special shout out to the story featuring a nonbinary character, which perhaps fell victim to some tropes ("I don't let anyone touch me there, but I magically trust you to do so in our first sexual encounter") but overall was sweet and well-written. Another story was an author's debut, and I thought that was one of the best ones in this anthology.

I read a lot of titles from Bold Strokes Books and much more lesbian erotica than the average person, so perhaps my expectations were higher. Like with most anthologies, there will probably be at least one story you'll enjoy. I really liked two or three stories and felt less than lukewarm about the rest.

Thank you Bold Strokes Books for this free copy in exchange for an honest review, via NetGalley.

This collection of erotica has something for everyone. The collection was well written. And the variety of stories contained within made for a very good collection. The stories were sexy, filled with hot sex scenes. I’m sure not all contained within this collection will be everyone’s cup of tea, some were more dark than I would normally read, but even those were well written.

What I can say is that it's not everyone's flavour. But it's good. For the fans of lesbian erotica - you're in for a treat! There's a spectrum of stories, some really good, some ok, but you're gonna love this.

When I requested Silk and Leather I didn't see the small writing about this book being a lesbian erotica. I have never read one before to be honest when I dove into reading it. I stoped reading Silk and Leather after few stories because this book was just not for me. The stories were great and entertaining but I couldn't get into it.

This was one of the better erotica anthologies that I've read with a diverse array of short story topics that rarely left me feeling unsatisfied (no pun intended)! I enjoyed all of the stories with the exception of one where the writing, not necessarily the subject matter, was just not to my liking. If you're looking with a book with a varied theme of hot erotica this book is for you.

I received an ARC from Bold Strokes Books and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

As always happens in story-collection books, there are some better and some worse.

Here the main theme is erotica and silk and leather as a common argument, so you can guess that there will be some BDSM, light, but that.

The diversity of authors is wide, and their styles are varied, so if you don't like one story, the next one certainly will. So it is a good read that allows you diversity in many ways and also the possibility of leaving it and taking it without having to remember what you have previously read.

I think this is the best anthology I've read. I was pleasantly surprised by the authors I know, and pleasantly surprised by the authors I wasn't familiar with. There wasn't a dud in the bunch. I've noticed that a lot of readers don't like short stories that much as it's hard to develop the characters, but honestly I enjoyed every story in this. Kudos to editor Victoria Villasenor for pulling together such a fantastic collection.

Heaving, Throbbing, Overheated Erotica, OH MY!!!
This sextacularly stunning book is just what I needed! This tome consists of several steamy, sultry stories to tickle your imagination and your libido! A fair number of these tales contain BDSM and or Power Play but that is sooo not a bad thing, at least for me. There are twosomes, threesomes and even a foursome. Bois and girls, femmes and studs, Dommes and subs, sweet and slutty…hard and fast, soft and gentle… There is something for just about every lustful woman loving woman out there. This book showcased some new to me authors as well as an introduction to some favourite authors as they showed me something outside their norm…what a RUSH! This is a great book to read cover to cover, but I think I will have to get this one in paperback so I can leave it on my nightstand and re read a story or two at bedtime to give me sweet dreams would be perfect too. If you only get one erotic anthology this year, make it this one!

I usually tend towards reading full novels and more romance than entirely erotica books, so, these short stories were a bit out of my reading wheelhouse. But, I enjoyed most of them, really liked some of them, and I will admit there were a couple that I didn't like entirely.

For a lot of them, I have no words. Like Take a Leap, Engagements, Bossy, and Jeanne Levig's The Key to Happiness. All Aboard was also a heckuva start to the book. Not to mention, there seemed like there were so many more short stories in this than in the usual collections. They may have been a little shorter than usual, but, they also packed a big punch.

A great collection with more than enough good and great stories in it to make it worth reading for sure.

I was given this ARC by Netgalley on behalf of Bold Strokes Books.

sually, in reading a collection like Silk and Leather: Lesbian Erotica with an Edge, I expect to find a mix of stories I love, stories I kind of skim through, and stories I end up abandoning. In a good collection, it’s that second category that’s weighted the most heavily, and in a great collection it’s the first – and a lot of that mix depends on the editor.

I had high hopes for this, a gift to my Goddess and myself from Robyn Nyx, but Victoria Villasenor surpassed all expectations. I loved most of the stories and liked the rest – there wasn’t a single abandoned read in the batch. With that said, it’s hard not to talk about all the stories, but in the interest of brevity I’ll focus on my lucky seven favorites.

‘All Aboard’ by L.L. Shelton was a fantastic opener, a tale almost entirely devoid of dialogue, that reads like an erotic version of a silent movie classic. The story takes place on a train, with three women indulging in a dance of seduction and exhibitionism between cars that is as fun as it is indulgent.

‘Engagements’ by M. Ullrich follows that with a story of a different tone, involving a trip to meet one woman’s family – including the ex-girlfriend who is now engaged to her brother. I loved the emotional shifts here, taking the story from anxious tension, through sexual tension, and (ultimately) to voyeuristic regret.

‘The Bet’ by Sandy Lowe was a fantastic story of self-discovery between a curious woman with very detailed fantasies and the professional who brings them to life. The transition between innocence and wantonness was spectacular, and the sensory detail exquisite.

‘The Layover’ by T.L. Hayes was a fun a story that plays with themes of long-distance lovers passing through, power-exchange, fantasy, and role-reversal. The tease of the ending, and all it opens up, is perhaps the most exciting part.

‘Learning to Ask’ by Butch Indeep was a fantastic story about about taking control and declaring what you want. The level of trust between the three friends, and they way they gently encourage (and reward) Ellie, bringing fantasy and friendship together is perfect.

‘The Key to Happiness’ by Jeannie Levig definitely struck a nerve for me, reversing professional roles in a power exchange scenario to relieve stress and adjust behavior. The way it incorporated chastity was a pleasant surprise, and just the overall relationship made me smile.

‘Stripped Bare’ by Robyn Nyx takes the theme of the power exchange to a whole new level, challenging one pain-loving Domme to submit to the professional whip of another. What resonated deepest here for me was Valentina’s refusal to allow Cree to escape into subspace, insisting she remain physically in the moment, which seemed to strengthen their overall bond.

Given that this is Lesbian Erotica with an Edge, it shouldn’t be surprising that so many of the stories deal with BDSM, power exchanges, packing and strap-on play, well-define butch/femme dynamics, and exhibitionism. Ultimately, what made Silk and Leather so consistently satisfying was the way it explored different relationship dynamics across different scenes and settings, but all with the same positive, passionate intensity. There are relationships behind every story, some of them established going in, and others developed coming out, with that chemistry making even the wildest, kinkiest encounter about more than just sex.

A good erotica compilation. Like all compilations, I liked some more than others, but most were very good. Some of these stories definitely had more of an edge than other BSB erotica compilations - including multiple partners, BDSM, breath play and more.

It was fun - and I have to admit a little shocking - to see erotica from some of my favorite more main-stream romance authors.

Sexy sexy sexy. That was great fun to read, not too long or drawn out. The stories were well done and though they we quick I felt they were wrapped up perfectly.
Wa h story is unique and it is always nice to get lots of great authors in one place.

A delicious blend of sensual and erotic lesbian short stories. I wish there were more lesbian romances/erotica available and this would be a great collection to add to any library.
