This is a light, quick, easy read but not so light that it made me want to skip bits because I was bored. However, as an ex camper van owner it did make me want to buy another camper van and take to the road, I even looked at prices...briefly.
The escapist life styles..bookshops, teashops, musicians, writers.....are not about people with everyday lives, supermarket shelf stackers, builders, mechanics, admin, but who needs to read that! Life looked at through rose tinted spectacles...everything turns out ok in the end...not real life but maybe that’s the appeal.
Nevertheless this is a well written story with well drawn characters that you feel compassion for, nicely balanced writing by an accomplished writer.
Thank you Netgalley for an ARC.
I’ve been waiting to read about the next adventure with Rosie and Aria after falling in love with the whole van lifestyle in the first book. As soon as it started I knew this would tug at the heartstrings, as Aria’s past comes back to the fore. The dynamic between Rosie and Aria is no different although this time we see it from Aria’s POV and I must admit I really like seeing the other side to things. I love both characters equally but they’re so different and finding out more about Aria and what happened to her was intriguing and kept me reading past bedtime. When the past crops up in the most beautiful way I really felt for Aria and felt all of those mixed emotions along the way. Can you get over losing the love of your life? I loved when she shared snippets of what made TJ so good. And I wondered after hearing that, how she would ever love again. But Van Lifers have a special bond and they share the burdens, the ups and downs, and all van life entails which helps Aria move forward under the summer sun of the French Riviera. There’s a few surprises along the way that will make you laugh and cry but most of all you’ll cheer for Aria and hope she manages to follow her heart. This one is more than just a feel good read, it’s one that will stay with you for a long time.
Felt so good to be back with Rosie and Aria as they travel through France.
Aria still doesn’t want to let someone new into her life after her husband passed away. She’s sent a letter and a diary he kept by his mom and begins to read through slowly. She tries to reach out to his mom but the feelings not reciprocated.
Rosie, tried her best to make Aria realise that she has to move on.
Rosie receives some unexpected news, totally unexpected.
Slowly Aria realises that, after having a conversation with her husbands mom that she has to move on and it’s what he would have wanted for her. She reads the last page in the diary(very sad) and goes to Jonathan and tells him how she feels..
Another fabulous book.
"Aria's Travelling Book Shop" is a truly lovely tale of love, loss, friendship and second chances. Rebecca Raisin's characters, and setting, leap from every page. I really enjoyed the book and am now desperate to visit Rouen after reading about Aria's adventures.
I really struggled to get into this book , it started like a mid chapter feeling no proper indroduction to the the characters, very disappointing.
