This is the first book from this author for me and I must tell you that I enjoyed it so much! Charlotte inherited an 18th century B&B from her Great Aunt Isabella. I love the name of the B&B too! It’s called Chapters, I mean what is not to love about that? In addition to being a place to stay the B&B also hosts book events. The name makes sense now, right? After inheriting Charlotte decides to leave her job as an English and run the B&B.

Everything seems to be going great. She is knee deep in her first event for a mystery writer. That is until someone is stabbed to death during a period costume dinner. Now, they are involved in a police investigation and Charlotte along with her neighbor Ellen decide to figure things out on their own.

The characters were all so great in this one! I fell in love with them right away. If you are a cozy mystery fan this is the book for you. I will certainly be watching for more in this series.

I absolutely love Victoria Gilbert's Blue Ridge Library cozy series and so I was thrilled to hear that she had a new cozy series, the Booklover's B&B series, coming out. I read this first book in the new series and was not disappointed. I daresay I enjoyed it as much as any book in the Blue Ridge Library series.

The sleuth, Charlotte Reed, owns Chapters, a North Carolina B&B, and is hosting a Josephine Tey event when the murder occurs. Not surprisngly, Charlotte is soon wrapped up in solving the crime.

This series debut is quite promising and offers a terrific cast of secondary characters. I would certainly recommend it to those who love cozies.

While I received a copy of this ebook in exchange for a review, all opinions remain my own.

This is a classic "who-dun-it!" Charlotte owns a bed and breakfast called Chapters (perfect name by the way). She is hosting an author event over a weekend, has what seems like a full roster of events and lots of guests. On the first night of events, a man, one of the guests is MURDERED!

Charlotte becomes a bit of a sleuth, trying to uncover who killed at her b&b and also learn some history about her mysterious aunt Isabella, from whom she inherited the inn.

It is another of those books where you think you might know, but you really don't. It didn't stop me from trying to guess though, all the way to the end when you finally learn who dun it!

This was a great read. I really liked the setting. Beaufort sounds like an beautiful place to visit. Charlotte and her crew are fun and the premise of a B&B devoted to books is very intriguing. This is the first in a new series and I would definitely read another. There were lots of suspects and there was a bit of a mystery in a mystery and Charlotte tries to figure out how her Great-aunt acquired the money to buy Chapters, the B&B. I had a guess of who the murderer might be, but there were twists along the way and a very surprise ending.

Victoria Gilbert is a new author for me and I've really enjoyed reading Booked for Death.

Charlotte Reed inherited her Great Aunt's Chapters Bed & Breakfast after her aunt died. It was a great time to move to Beaufort, NC since Charlotte's husband had died in a tragic accident a couple of years back. Charlotte was a High School teacher and this was no help preparing her for running a Bed & Breakfast! While hosting a Tey Celebration one of the guests ends up dead and Charlotte is trying to find out of one of her guests is a killer.

Victoria Gilbert did a wonderful job of writing this story and the characters were well written. It was a great Cozy Mystery read.

A cozy mystery set in a charming North Carolina B&B, with plenty of suspects and twists to keep you entertained. When the victim dies, everyone who knew him seems to be a suspect, including Charlotte, the owner of the B&B. With her neighbor Ellen helping her to investigate, Charlotte learns more about each possible suspect, more about the victim, and more about her mysterious aunt Isabella who left her the B&B.

I did start putting the pieces together a little faster than Charlotte did, but it didn't stop me from me liking this book. I could see this being a great series of books.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

This cozy mystery begins with our heroine, Charlotte, recently having inherited a book themed bed and breakfast from her eccentric great aunt. During the course of a mystery book event a troublesome guest is found murdered.
With too many suspects to sort through herself, Charlotte enlisted the help of her elderly neighbor who happens to have secrets of her own and is also the key to discovering the answers Charlotte has about her great aunts enigmatic life. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see where this series goes.

I was so pleased to receive this book for review. I love the vibrant cover and knew this would be a exciting new series. Every book lover enjoys mysteries featuring a book retreat in a grand old mansion. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. My review opinion is my own .

I loved this first in series . The series is "Book Lovers Mystery B&B" by cozy author Victoria Gilbert. We are introduced to a charming location of Beaufort, North Carolina. The Southern charm and beauty of North Carolina is vividly described by the author. The historic Chapters Bed-and-Breakfast was built in 1770 and has been renovated. It is now a reader's paradise holding book retreats. I love the description of the old Inn and how the author brings it to life for the reader.

Our protagonist is Charlotte who inherited the Inn from her Aunt and loves books. She is holding a book retreat for readers of author Josephine Tey. When a guest turns up dead in the Inn Charlotte decides she will investigate the murder and clear the reputation of her Inn . She is also suspect number one and must clear her name before the police stop investigating and charge her. She has good friends on her staff and neighbors she enlists to help her clear her name and restore the Inn to its former reputation.

I enjoyed the well crafted sleuth and wonderful rich charcters. The setting is described to perfection . I look forward to the next in series and hope this will continue on as a long running cozy series Very well done to the author.

I love cozy mysteries, especially those set in a book store or book lover's setting. If you are not a "reader" you just don't understand. BOOKED FOR DEATH gives us a murder that not only disrupts the book community, the victim was spreading rumors about one of the community's founders that just could not be true! Following the clues takes us down a twisting path that leads to a surprise killer. The only thing wrong with the ending is it meant this edition is over. When does the next one come out?

"Chapters", the Beaufort, North Carolina B&B which Charlotte Reed had inherited from her great aunt Isabella was about to head into a week of celebrations of mystery author Josephine Tey. Charlotte loved hosting these events and this one was looking good. But early in the week, as one of the events was coming to a close, a body was found in the carriage house beside the B&B. And so began intense investigations into all the guests, including Charlotte and her staff.

Charlotte could see that she needed to check things out herself – firstly to prove her own innocence, but also to find the killer as most of the guests were still residing in Chapters after the police had told them they had to stay. So having a killer under the same roof was giving Charlotte some sleepless nights. She and her good friend and neighbour, Ellen, kept running theories and clues by one another. But would they find the person they were looking for? Or was it putting the women in danger?

Booked For Death is the 1st in the Booklovers B&B Mystery series by Victoria Gilbert and I thoroughly enjoyed it. With many suspects, the weeding out of each one proved difficult – I found Charlotte to be a great character and loved her neighbour’s participation as well. A great cozy mystery, plus excellent start to a new series, and a book about books, I’ll be keen to read on. Highly recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read and review.

Victoria Gilbert writes the BEST bookish cozy mysteries! Booked for Death is the first in a new series set in a B&B for booklovers! Murder and atmosphere and humor combine to create a great introduction to a series that is sure to hit the spot for Gilbert fans and new fans alike.

I was SO excited to receive this ARC. I have so enjoyed Victoria Gilbert's other series and so I was delighted to see that this was the start of a new series. And it did not disappoint! Love the setting and the idea of a literary B&B. This one kept me guessing until the end!

I had high hopes for this series as I love her Blue Ridge Library series, but I didn’t connect with these characters. Charlotte Reed runs a B&B and during a party one of the guests is found murdered. There are many suspects from the guest list and Charlotte and her neighbor Ellen work together to solve the case.

This felt a little edgier than the typical cozy mystery. The setting will lend itself to a long series, though it seemed as though there was more character development for the secondary characters, but the main character Charlotte is a relatable heroine. I look forward to the next installment!

Beaufort, North Carolina, Chapters Bed-and-Breakfast is a place I would love to visit! Charlotte Reed inherited Chapters from her great-aunt Isabella. While hosting a literary retreat a book dealer is murdered. She has her book club, best friend and neighbor to help her solve the case.
Great location, well developed characters and a well done mystery. I will be looking forward to more in the series.

Booked for Death is a fantastic start to a new cozy mystery series. The main character, Charlotte, is very likeable and it's easy for the reader to want to go along as she solves the mystery. I wasn't really a fan of her cook/housekeeper, Alicia. I found that character to be a bit too grumpy. But I did love Charlotte's neighbor, Ellen. I like that the author doesn't seem too eager to get a love interest for Charlotte. Sometimes I like the romance side-plots, but not having one for this character really fits for now. I'll be honest, I didn't guess who the killer was until right before the characters did. But looking back, I can see where all the clues were dropped like breadcrumbs throughout the book. That makes for a great murder mystery. I can't wait to read the next one in the series to see what Charlotte and her friends get into next.

Note: I voluntarily read a free copy of this book from Netgalley. All opinions are mine alone.

When Charlotte Reed inherited Chapters, her Great Aunt Isabella's 18th century B&B in Beaufort North Carolina a year ago, she decided to leave her job as an English teacher and continue running the guest house and book events. Her current event is focusing on the works of mystery writer Josephine Tey and all is going well during a period costume dinner until one of the guests, Lincoln Delamont, a most unlikable book dealer, is found stabbed to death in the carriage house.

A week's stay in a literary themed B&B with accompanying events focusing on a popular author sounds like the perfect vacation for book lovers and forms a great setting for a cosy murder mystery. Alongside the police investigation, Charlotte and her next door neighbour, Ellen, do a bit of sleuthing of there own and discover several guests, including Charlotte herself, who had reason to dispatch Mr Delamont. This is a nicely paced mystery in a great setting with characters who are developing well. In a side plot, Charlotte is also trying to uncover more about her Aunt Isabella's past and discovers she led a more interesting life than her family knew. With Charlotte and Ellen teaming up as amateur sleuths, I can see this turning into an enjoyable series of cosy mysteries.

This was a fun, strong opener for this new series. The B&B setting and interesting cast of characters made for a great mystery. There were a couple of twists that I didn't see coming, which is always nice - it was less predictable that some cozy mysteries tend to be. I also loved the nods to other writers and books! Looking forward to the next book.

This is the first book in a new series. I can't wait to read the next one!

Charlotte Reed is running a Bed and Breakfast named Chapters in Beaufort, NC. She has inherited it from her Great Aunt Isabella. Charlotte's husband Brent died three years before rescuing students in a Tornado. The house was originally built in 1770, and as the book begins, Charlotte is hosting a Josephine Tey mystery week. Charlotte and her housekeeper, Alicia, live in the house, and the guests this week include Jennifer and Lincoln Delamont and their teenaged daughter, Tara, Kelly and Todd Rowley, and in the carriage house is Scott Kepler, an author who was doing research for a book locally. When Charlotte catches Lincoln in the library on the ladder looking at books on the top shelf, she is annoyed because they were instructed not to use the ladder or pull out the rare books on the top shelf. He comes back by suggesting that her aunt had gotten the books by stealing. He also seems to pick on his wife and annoy his daughter.

The first event of the week is a War of the Roses dinner honoring "The Daughter of Time". Guests are suggested to wear period costumes, and several local folks are also coming, including her friend Julie, who ran a local bookstore, Pete and Sandra, owners of a local cafe, and two older sisters Ophelia and Bernadette. After dinner, the party moves outside, and Charlotte has to run to get more ice at the store. While she is gone, Delamont is killed with a knife in the guest house.

Charlotte joins up with next door neighbor, Ellen Montgomery, an older woman who was a friend of Great Aunt Isabelle and is managing the trust for Chapters in trying to figure out who killed Lincoln. They gather a list of suspects including Jennifer and Tara Delamont, Alicia (who wants to protect Isabelle's reputation), Julie (was was dating Lincoln (before she knew he was married), Scott (whose father was cheated by Lincoln), and Damien. They soon find that others had had interactions with Lincoln, some a long time ago! Finally, on the last day that the police had asked folks to stay in town, Charlotte has scheduled a Josephine Tey book discussion. The police have given her some questions to ask, and Ellen is wired. As you might guess, the discussion turns to the murder, and some relevant information comes out, and we discover the real culprit along with some extra danger and excitement!

It's always fun to read the first book in a new series and I'm already waiting to read the next ones in the series.

Although it's a somewhat familiar setting of a B&B that focuses on books, this has a cast of characters that make a very interesting story,

It is well-written with just enough twists to keep it interesting.
