This was a pretty straightforward spy, hacking, political corruption story. It was easy to read and moved fast but not something that will stick with me for very long.
Where has Jon Reznick been all my life?
How have I missed this series? I freaking loved this book! It has snark, action, and lots of tension. J.B. Turner had me on the edge of my seat and loving it.
Turner has a diverse cast of characters that you don’t need to know beforehand because Turner keeps the story clean. The mystery is fresh and doesn’t get weighed down with past information. Everything you need to know, you learn on the fly as Reznick learns it. Love it!!!
I just loved escaping with Hard Target and now I am going to have to go back and start this series from book one because seriously once you get Reznick you gotta have more.
Jon Resnik returns in another action packed thriller. Felt that this storyline was a little more chaotic and true to life than previous ones read, proving that not everything works out as you’d hope.
A decent thriller that has a geo-political aspect to it. Fast-paced and a good read as far as thrillers go nothing out of the ordinary for me on this one.
JB Turner is a prolific author and I have enjoyed his books. Hard Target involves national security documents and government cover up. It is very true to life.....or what I would think is true. I could barely do anything but read this book. If you love geo-politics and suspense, this is a perfect read!
Started off great, and kept the quick pace. It's a political thriller. Actually, quite typical for one and that's why I gave it 4⭐. I was thinking it would be a 3 ⭐, but something happened at the end that surprised me. It surprised me, because it doesn't typically happen in a book.
Jon Reznick finds himself caught in a whistle blower case. Trevelle Williams receives a document that puts his life in danger and has national security involved. He calls Reznick for help. They learn that a whistle blower, Rosalind Dyer, is in trouble. Can they save her before it's too late?
Fast paced. A few twists. A surprise ending. Typical political thriller, though.
Thanks to Netgalley, Amazon Publishing UK and Turner for the Kindle Version of the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Great thriller that kept me engaged from start to finish. Fabulous plot and characters, and author I will definitely read more of!
I really like this book it was pretty good easy read definitely recommend
The book grabbed me from the the beginning to the end
This is book 8 of the Jon Reznick Series. Trevelle & Jon must team up to save Rosalind, a congressional witness. She has important information on national security, and the men must get to her before the people who want to silence her.
Jon Reznick is contacted by a friend, and this soon leads to a chase to save another woman. This book was full of corruption, thrills and turns, recommended for anyone who loves a great read.
This enjoyable novel was a thriller following a whistleblower in Washington, DC and the people trying to keep her alive long enough to testify. The heroine had uncovered corruption in the military expenditures and needed to stay alive to testify. The high level military did not want her to testify, so were trying to either kidnap or kill her. The book was very much a cat-and-mouse game, but was quite well-put-together. I enjoyed reading this and had a hard time putting it down.
Thank to the author, J.B. Turner, the publisher, Amazon UK, and to Netgalley for providing me an ARC in exchange for my candid review.
This book is number 8 in a series of books about an ex-seal/delta force/ranger type guy who has gotten out but finds his skills still needed in the world. He works on an ad hoc basis with a contact in the FBI. This story involves an associate/friend hacker who gets sent a hacked copy of a memo that outlines a request for an assassination of a government investigator who is involved in investigating the pentagon. It is a story about corruption and lawlessness at the very highest levels of the US government and the Pentagon.
It is an exciting read, but somewhat formulaic in its very nature. It is a great adventure, but its details will not stay with the reader for long.
Wow!! What a fantastic read! Hard Target was full of intrigue and excitement. It was riveting with fast paced action and a great plot. Couldn't stop reading. Looking forward to getting more of this series soon.
I had never read a book by J. B. Turner prior to this one and did not know it was the eighth book in a series until I went to post a review. This installment works well as a standalone and no questions went unanswered. The writing is decent and kept my interest, but similar to other political thrillers that have former military/secret squirrel as the lead characters. I recommend this book if you are looking for a quick, and mostly thrilling, jaunt into the seedy underbelly of covert organizations (both sanctioned and unsanctioned).
Another brilliant Jon Reznick thriller. Reznick is contacted by Trevelle Williams for help. He uncovered a plot to kill Rosalind Dyer a whistle blower planning to expose a huge government fraud. They set out to earn and protect her before the trial. A great fast paced thriller with a explosive ending.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I'm very happy that Netgalley gave me the chance to read it. Jon Reznick is a rogue former CIA man who is still working for the government privately when they need someone who doesn't play by the rules.
Hard Target is a fast paced thriller building intrigue upon intrigue showcasing the machinations of very crooked politicians who felt no qualms about leaving a trail of the bodies of those who threaten to expose them. Jon Reznick defies the powers that be by continuing to pursue power hungry evil politicians, even to the extent of losing people who helped him.
This book grabbed my interest from the get-go and held it through the twists and turns that led to the surprise ending.
J.B. Turner has written another fascinating thriller featuring John Resnick. Resnick as he is called in the noves usually goes out of his way to help people in need of his services. He doesn't hesitate to use his gun to shoot and kill others when trying to acheive his goals,
This is the 8th book in this series but I had not read the prior books and it was able to stand alone. Jon Reznick is drawn into helper his hacker friends who gets embroiled into a tangled hackers web. The bad guys who are also the government want to protect themselves at any cost. As I read these books I always wonder how much could be true, probably a frighteningly high amount. The story is good but I had to knock it down for the cliched writing style. Yes yes they are all patriots. A few of the twists were predictable I did like how the ending did not land at the easiest place.
I was given a copy by Netgalley in exchange for an unbiased review.
I was unable to get into this book and therefore DNF'd it. I have given it 3 stars as a neutral number as i do not have anything bad or good to say.
Trevelle is a great hacker and whistleblower, but the Feds think he has info and invade his home, killing a friend who just happened to be there, while he was on vacation. So he turns to ex Special ops Reznick. Together they uncover a very high level conspiracy involving the Joint Chiefs of Staff, many murders, etc. They need to protect the real whistleblower, a government worker in the Defense Inspector General’s office. Some great chase scenese, lots of techno speak, and slow uncovering of the whole mystery kept me glued to the page.
