I understand the need for all kinds of books. I know poop jokes and fart jokes are still hilarious to kids, and even adults. But this book just really doesn't do anything beyond that. It's just a joke.
The title alone will make this one that draws interest. A fun read that will have readers giggling.
I'm giving this a solid 2.5 stars because I should have known from the title that this was not a book for me, but I recognize that it's perfect for younger readers in its silliness. The infantile jokes abound and I know for a fact that a little kid will love them. Adults just grin and bear it while you're reading to the kid.
I can't wait to put this one in my library. It's everything you want a middle grade novel to be-engaging, well written and my students are going to check this out and never want to give it back! It's funny and adventurous. The illustrations are great. Bravo Aaron Reynolds. Write lots more of these please.
I received an electronic ARC from Macmillan Children's Publishing Group through NetGalley.
Reynolds first in a new series about three kids who are in training to become a mage, warrior and monk. Unfortunately, their mentors are killed early in the book and the three take on their duties to be heroes. Hilarity prevails throughout as they encounter various mythical beings and defeat them in their own unique ways. Readers are given a hint of the next adventure to come and that a sinister mage may be using them.
Elementary readers will enjoy the fun and adventure - with just enough scariness - as they watch these heroes mature and find their path.
Looking forward to the next adventure in the series.
This was just the funny read I needed. Sometimes you just need to read a book about an adventure. This book is filled with potty humor, friendship, farts, and epic battles. Fart, Moxie, and Pan go to a special school to learn their different magic. When their masters are killed they decide to not return to school and go on an epic quest instead. Along the way they make friends, and enemies, and learn more about their own abilities. There are nice illustrations throughout the book, which I enjoyed. It is well-written, funny, and has heart (and farts). This is perfect for the kid who just needs a fun read. I'd hand this to kids in upper 3rd to 5th grade. I look forward to more adventures!
This one has that video game feel and potty humor that elementary kids won’t be able to get enough of, along with just the right amount of heart, friendship and finding your place in the world. This is a book that will get student word of mouth going with substantial excitement. It’s silly and fun and an adventure kids will want to be apart of!
Three young heroes (impersonating actual heroes) go on a quest to capture the fart of a magic llama. With that sentence right there, young readers will be hooked!!
Fart, Pan and Moxie go on a wild adventure that will make you laugh out loud and keep those pages turning. The illustrations and diagrams of different magical creatures also add to the story and break up pages of texts for students.
