This book was everything I was hoping for ! Although this pair, Kinsley and Rhett, got off on a shaky start they worked through their differences. I thought the author did a great job turning their somewhat standoffish friendship into more.
This series always surprises me to because it's different than what Stacey Kennedy usually writes. I really like this suspense filed drama with a lot of love and feelings!
Love can repair even the most damaged heart!
Rhett knows he's damaged goods, and it's easier to let everyone think he's a ruthless bastard than to try to prove them wrong. Kinsley is the exception, but he knows the man she thinks she sees in him no longer exists.
After one explosive night of giving in to their simmering attraction, he doubles down on his efforts to keep out of her life. Until the night she's threatened at her bar and calls him for help, which also gives her the opportunity to break the news to him that will change his life.
I loved the respect between these two characters. Kinsley knew that Rhett could offer her nothing unless he made significant changes, yet she respected him enough to accept him as is, whatever he can be for her, and never even tried to change him. Rhett's entire personal growth trajectory was wholly from within, as he allowed the feelings he had for Kinsley to take over and lead him into a new sense of self.
There's quite a lot of danger and suspense in this story as our detectives try to figure out who is trying to put her out of business or out of commission entirely. Rhett is the hero Kinsley needs, the hero he was born to be, and I loved every bit of their story. The supporting characters are very familiar from the earlier books in this series, and it was wonderful to see them still involved with each other in their solid circle of friends.
Towards the end there was even a surprise secondary romance for one of the secondary characters, bringing this whole series to a truly satisfactory ending. The epilogue was everything I could hope for. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Ruthless Bastard is the third installment of the Dangerous Love series. This one is about Detective Boone's sister, Kinsley Knight, and his best friend, ex-military, Rhett West. Kinsley owned the town's jazz club, Whiskey Blues. She had loved Rhett since she was young but for him, she was forbidden. The military had destroyed him and he believed that he couldn't give her what she deserved. Kinsley was determined to at least have a taste of him in order to move on. That one night changed their lives forever. Not only they had to find a way to make things work but also to fight against the new threat that came to town and targeted her. They went through hell but that made them stronger and showed them what they truly needed in their lives.
It's an angsty action-packed romance. This book is a page-turner, with such a strong and addictive plot and the amazing characters. My favorite was Kinsley, she was a force of nature with a big heart. Remy came second best with her magic potions. I liked the balance between the love and the action, it spiced up the story. Also, I found interesting the way the author approached Rhett's PTSD. My favorite scene was when all of them went out together, such a cute moment. I enjoyed reading it and I recommend it to everyone. I will rate it with 4.5 stars.
Rhett and Kingsley have known each other for ever. Rhett is Kingsley’s brothers best friend, former Army Ranger, now a cop in their little town. Kingsley owns Whiskey Blue, a bar in town. They spend one night together and then Rhett ghosts her. He believes he’s no good for her plus being his friends little sister, he tries to stay away from her. When the unexpected happens, Rhett is thrown for a loop. Then someone breaks into Kingsley’s bar and destroys it. Someone wants her to close down and they’re willing to do anything to make that happen. Can Kingsley break down the walls around Rhett and stay safe too?
OMG!!! This is one of my favorite books in a long time. You’ve got suspense, sex, and action. I stopped reading several times because I was afraid of what was going to happen next. It can be read as a stand-alone but it’s more enjoyable to read the others too.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley *
I loved the final story in the Dangerous Love series, and I hate to see it end. Ruthless Bastard is a beautiful, emotional story. It was so heartwarming to watch Rhett learn to accept Kinsley’s love. Stacey Kennedy did an awesome job with the characters in this series. They were very lovable. I love stories with close friends that fall in love. Hot, protective alpha males winning over the strong women is very sexy. I could not put this book down. The message is clear in this series. You have to fight for what you love.
Grab a fan and grab some tissues and maybe a nice glass of wine and sit back for an awesome adventure. Way to end a series Stacey!!!! You’ve read the blurb and know what this is about so I’m not going to re-hash the story but try to tell you that this book him me so emotionally. I cried so hard at one point. I love that you believe immediately the chemistry between Kinsley and Rhett. I love that this book has heat. I love that Kinsley is going to FIGHT for Rhett and them as a couple. I loved how Stacey was able to show Rhett growing and changing. I love love love Remy. She brings so much laughter. It’s great that the “family/friends” are together. I truly did not want this to end. I love how she wanted him to prove it wasn’t a dream (grrrr). And I loved when he went to the appointment towards the end of the book. WHY DID THIS HAVE TO END!!! I LOVE YOU AND ALL YOUR STORIES STACEY!!!
I have to admit, this is the first book I’ve read from the Dangerous Love series. Now I have to go back and read all of the rest! Ruthless Bastard was a fun, sexy and exhilarating read!
I fell in love with the characters and their story! Each page had me anxiously awaiting the next. I read it in one go because I just couldn’t put it down! The chemistry between Rhett and Kinsley was so real and it just scorched the pages! The action and the plot were completely believable. The witty, sarcastic comments between the characters made the book that much better. There were so many times that I literally laughed out loud.
Honestly, I loved everything about this book. I give Ruthless Bastard a full 5 stars!
