This story is packed with a lot of drama and entertainment!!

For me started out slow but then I got into it more and seen where it was taking me, this was my first time reading a book by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed this.

This was a fun, guilty pleasure. I don't have a sister, but I always wanted one and imagine what it would have been like...(hopefully not like this!). But still, it was really fun and I tore through it wanting to know what would happen next.

With a creepy premise (I know I read Reddit but WHO DOES THIS!!!!), I was torn back and forth with which sister I hated more.... and by the end I really didn't care for either of them!

Traveling With T’s Thoughts:

I saw this cover on Netgalley and had a remembrance of reading a previous Mary Simses book and liking it- so I hit that request button.

Unfortunately, this fell far below my expectations.

What I Liked:

The cover. So pretty!

Unfortunately, the book just did not have a lot that I cared for. I knew how it would end, the disagreement between the sisters was not fully fleshed out and the ending rushed.

Bottom line: For me, this was like unwrapping a beautiful package to discover there was nothing inside.

This book was light and a fun read with not too much depth. I found the sisters fighting over the same man to be fairly creepy for my taste. Other readers don't seem to mind it, but I did.

It has been a while since I was last treated to a novel by Mary Simses, and I am pleased to say that The Wedding Thief was worth the wait! The story packed in a lot of drama and entertainment, making me turn the pages quickly. It felt like it was shorter than it actually was, as a result.

I really enjoyed this novel overall. It had a My Best Friend's Wedding feel. The dialogue and interactions were great and there was a nice level of humor to the story. I wasn't sure where it would go, but I liked where things ended up. The sibling rivalry felt genuine and I totally understood what Sara was going through as an older sister. (Although my sister and I never had the kind of problems that Sara and Mariel did.) The descriptions brought everything to life and I felt like I was right in the middle of the idyllic setting.

This was a sweet story that I would definitely recommend.

Movie casting suggestions:
Sara: Gillian Jacobs
Mariel: Amanda Seyfried
David: Zachary Levi
Carter: Channing Tatum
Camille: Jean Smart
Tate: Chad Michael Murray

This book made me happy. At a time when the world seems to be falling apart, I needed to have something joyful and light. This book fit the bill. I’d read it without reserve, if I were you. It will allow you to escape this crazy world for awhile. Plus it’s a really good story.

Two sisters are summoned home to their “sick” mom only to find her healthy. The ploy was to get the two talking. A large order considering the younger sister was marrying the olders ex boyfriend. Add the pastry bandit reeking havoc on the town, and you’ve got the bones of this story. Through a series of circumstances the older sister must step into finish the wedding preparations, giving her the chance to sabotage her sisters wedding. The question is can she follow through and unend her sisters wedding day? Happy reading

A fun romp of two sisters, both in love with the same man. One will marry him the other will try everything in her power to sabotage the wedding. Sister will easily relate to these characters. The dialogue moves quickly and you flip the pages. Fast read that ultimately has a happy ending. A fun summer read in these stressful times.

The Wedding Thief is an ideal summer read, especially with all the doom and gloom happening in the world these days. The book asks a few questions and then advocates answers, done amusingly, and entertainingly. The reader is asked if sisters who are strikingly different can become close and sister-like again after experiencing a major blow out during the wedding of the youngest sister. The book has its
Share of light hearted with a bit of humour scenes but also lots of talk about what it means to be a family and the relationship between siblings. Add some universally cute hallmark channel romance and you will see that the Wedding Thief is a fun read that can be enjoyed by all. A great light summer beach read. 3.5/5. This is the first I’ve read from this author and will definitely try out some more of hers.

I’m trying REALLY hard to stay on top of my ARCs from @netgalley for July, so I decided to read The Wedding Thief next. And honestly? I just wasn’t that interested in it. I read it in like 5 hours, so clearly I didn’t hate it. I just also didn’t like it. The main character, Sara, is bitter because her sister, Mariel, is marrying the man Sara was dating. I just didn’t like Sara? She sets off to ruin Mariel’s wedding - and she’s supposed to be 38, so it felt unbelievable. She and David (a guy with a girlfriend) have this ridiculous storyline - there is a hand made out of paper, stolen bake goods, etc. - that made no sense. Again, I didn’t hate it, but I wouldn’t recommend reading it. 🤷‍♀️

This quick read should be a movie script. It is one of those books that everything gets mixed up and then at the end everything gets untangled. with a happy conclusion for everyone. This book has so many comic side stories--the dessert stealers, the ruined hand statue, etc. that SEEING it would be even funnier. The author has set up a quirky world with quircky characters, but I would visit that town any time.

The Wedding Thief by Mary Simses

Anyone who has siblings will relate to this book! The author, Mary Simses has added a touch of fresh comedy to a age old drama of sibling rivalry! This rivalry was between sisters Sara the perfect and independent and Mariel the beautiful and clueless and helpless! I had my own personal experience with sibling issues but with a younger brother! He was the first boy after four girls so you would think I would be jealous of the attention he received! One never knows what preconceived situation or idea a person will have that grows until it gets out of proportion and in this book boy does it ever almost explode with disastrous consequences!!
Sara is dating Carter but they are starting to fizzle! Carter and Mariel meet and before you know it they are having an affair before he breaks it completely with Sara!!
Can you imagine the explosion that this would cause between siblings that already have a rocky relationship!!
Sara moves out of the state completely to get away from her sister and Carter and she is not budging an inch on accepting apologies! Can you blame her for this to a point? However, one does have to move on with life!
Her mother calls and tells her she is dying and she rushes to her side. It’s a ruse because her mom wants the girls to makeup because Mariel is getting married in two weeks and she wants her family present!
Needless to say that Sara is having none of this and in the course of running out and leaving she has an accident and meets David! Sabotaging Mariel’s wedding Sara learns all kinds of things about herself and Mariel and self discovery!
Sibling rivalry can contain jealousy, insecurity, competition and it’s important to realize that as we are young we all have young emotions that explode but as we get older we learn to appreciate those closest to us and want to have a relationship with family. It may not always work out but everyone strives for it!
This is a funny, but a caring and a wonderful way to experience how to communicate and say your sorry!!
I received a advanced copy from netgally and I am willingly giving you my thoughts and opinions!

Thoroughly enjoyed this quick, fun read. The characters were presented with the perfect touch of sardonic humor. Totally realistic dialog coupled with a "yeah, right" interior monologue made this lighthearted novel fun and interesting. Perfect one day beach read!

This book was super cute I loved it, flew through it in a day. The main character is Sarah, and she has been tricked into returning to her childhood home for her younger sisters wedding. However, her younger sister is marrying Sarah’s very own ex boyfriend- who discovered they were seeing each other behind her back. So, naturally, Sarah decided to help finish the plans for the wedding....by screwing up the plans. Definitely recommend this book as a fun, light read. I really enjoyed it.

When Sara’s mother calls her back home because she’s said she’s terribly ill- she finds moms Broadways acting skills are fabulous. Mom is just fine, but her backstabbing sister, Mariel, is getting married to her ex-boyfriend, Carter in just two weeks.
Can Sara bear to watch the two go down the aisle after they’ve betrayed her or is this her chance to wreck their wedding after all?
A funny, yet heartwarming story about family and the ties that bond.

This was hilarious AF in my many parts of the novel but also highly relatable and plausible. I loved this book and felt much empathy for Sarah even if she went off the rails a couple times, she reclaimed the good older sister title. Sarah plans to sabotage her younger sister, Muriel's wedding because the groom, Carter, is her ex -boyfriend she feels her sister stole from her. Sarah forms many plans but also meets other people along the way that help her and as well as also make her reconsider what she is doing. Her mother also sides with her younger sister throughout their lives and invites Sarah back under false conditions ultimately to reunite the two sisters but this starts out Sarah's revenge plan. If you want to know how the book ends, you'll have to read it. Does Sarah get her revenge? Or does she reconsider?

Definitely a re-read author and a favorite read. Highly recommended for a lighter summer read.

Thanks to NEtgalley, Mary Simses, and Little Brown & Company for an ARC in exchange for n honest review.
