This is an author you can always count on for an original premise that you're pretty sure you haven't read before. Sometimes it can be a bit much, but if you're in the right mood it's just plain fun. A genie in the bottle contemporary romance? Sure! Why not?
Wish was a fun and entertaining read. It's a standalone with a clever plot line. The main character, Ginnie is an artist who has been heartbroken and betrayed by her boyfriend. Not only did he cheat on her, he also left her financially struggling. This story used a twist of the "genie in a bottle" theme was inventive in the execution of it. I really liked the backstory which explained how the "wish granting" came to be. There were a few plot devices I didn't see coming which made the story even more enjoyable.

Wish was a cute and entertaining "Genie" romance with a side of mystery thrown in. Finding a genie bottle and being granted any wish you could dream of is a fantasy most people would jump at the chance to receive, but if life has taught Ginnie anything, it's that if something seems like it's too good to be true, it probably is... and that includes her own personal Genie, aka Marus Prospero.
This was a fun read that had a fascinating plot and interesting characters. Ginnie is a glass artist who works hard to stay afloat and support her dreams on her own terms. Being offered a wish by the mystifying Marus seems like an amazing opportunity, but Ginnie has never been one for hand-outs... and she finds herself more interested in Marus himself than anything materialistic that he can offer her...
I was so intrigued by the concept of this book, but there were a few aspects that just didn't deliver the story I was hoping for. The mystery of Marus was resolved quickly after being a vague mention throughout the book, and I wanted more from the chemistry aspect of Ginnie and Marus' relationship. But in the end, I thoroughly enjoyed this read and the unique storyline it provided!
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

It starts with a glass bottle that will lead you on a wild adventurer and the man of your dreams? Ginnie and Mason’s story will intrigue from the beginning and have you wondering what is really going on? Each time you thought you figured out what was going to happen it would change again. I loved their chemistry together though, you could feel the pull that was between them. And you knew that even if something was going to pull them apart, they would have to find their way back to one another. Once again Mimi brings you a book that will make you not want it to end.
The book starts out slow but picks up speed. The characters were developed although we found out more about them as the story went on. It was a unique storyline and an enjoyable read. There were some funny moments and some sad moments. Overall, a good read!
I've enjoyed other Mimi Jean Pamfiloff books so I wanted to give this one a try. Good story. Both characters had to grow a bit. I'm not sure why Mr. Wish got so mad at Moose, that scene and subsequent problems didn't quite fit.
Enjoyable story.
You have just one wish. Ginnie is battling to cope with things at the moment she is still very hurt by her ex cheating in her and stealing her money. She loves doing her glasswork but it doesn’t always pay the bills so when she meets a sexy stranger everything changes. Mason/ Marus is a man on a mission he offers people one wish. And they have to be honest in it but Ginnie isn’t playing by the rules. She is about to change the rules but she is about to learn things about her new man that could change everything. Is there a way through this for them? Or will they be torn apart forever? What happens now that Mason has come clean about his past, can Ginnie move on? A good read. I was lucky enough to receive a copy from NetGalley & the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
Wish by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff is the type of story I refer to as a “no brainer”. Essentially, this means that you simply enjoy the story for what it is and don’t need to have an emotional tie to the characters. This is just a fun, light-hearted and feel good book that you get to smile and laugh throughout and enjoy the romance along the way. It’s not deep and meaningful, it’s just a nice time-filler without all the dark and dreary drama. I enjoyed the story for what it was, and hope others will too!
Complementary copy for honest review. Some strange fairy tale whimsical stuff going on with this book. A genie to grant a wish but not really . It was a book that I normally wouldn't read.
I received this for an honest review! Honestly this was quite whimsical at times and felt like a fairy tale. Until the near end of course and it all hits the fan! Such a sweet ending.....
Some ugly talk of violence
A unfailingly sweet girl
An awesome best friend and her boyfriend
A hunky older brother, of her friends’
A memory lapse genie (man)
A few other things we can’t talk about
And the great HEA
A hot genie in a bottle? Count me in? So, although I hadn't read anything of Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, I decided to request the arc. Because I do like genies in bottles (see my reviews for Wishes in a Bottle and A Gift of Jacinth from Allie McCormack).
And while the genies of Allie are cute and lovely, in Wish the genie is nothing like a genie should be: brooding, grumpy and demanding.
When Ginnie found a lovely glass bottle, she didn't expect to get a sexy, yet grumpy guy to knock on her door and demand she makes a wish. As she has just been duped by her ex, she is not very inclined to do the bidding of another guy. So, although Mr. Wish (or Marus) is sexy is hell, he can stuff his wishes up somewhere where the sun doesn't shine.
But apparently, Marus doesn't take no for an answer. But neither is Ginnie. A very funny story with a twist. You don't see that one coming! Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
Ginnie Angelico's life had turned into complete cow dung. Not only had her ex cheated on her and made off with all of her life savings, she was stuck with a house she couldn't really afford and a career that may not take off. She was up the creek without a paddle. She loves making her glass pieces, finding used glass works to break to make into something beautiful and new. On the hunt for some new glass, she comes across a unique piece at a yard sale. A too bad and too hot for his own good guy steals the bottle right from her hands. Ah well. What are the chances she'll find a piece like that again? Oh, the force was strong because a trip to the local thrift store has her finding the exact same bottle! What was this? Fate? Serendipity? Kismet? The workings of a mystical being or the workings of a grand imagination?
Mr. Wish was the proverbial genie. He showed up everywhere, his bottle kept appearing, despite how many times and ways Ginnie got rid of it, and he was insanely hot and mysterious. He only wanted to give you what you most desired. There were conditions and rules to each wish and this part of the story proved most interesting. I loved the generosity of his spirit and his determination to spread happiness.
While I enjoyed the heck out of the premise of this story, I found it difficult to actually connect to it. Marus's story held so much potential, but because this entire tale was told through Ginnie's perspective, I found it impossible to become invested. At times this story was so ridiculous that I couldn't help but laugh and I think that was the author's goal. I haven't read an MJP story that hasn't prompted my giggles. Wish was a twist on fantasy that brought with it a lot of warmth and realism. It made me wonder what I would wish for and if Marus would even find me deserving. It gave me the freedom to question my own goodness and I appreciated that that was what drew me into liking it. If you love a taste of the unknown, a bit of fantasy mixed with altruism, a touch of romance with a hint of mystery, this story is just the read for you!
Fun and light easy read, it’s a sweet story with lots of twists and turns as you read. The characters are cute and relatable, however sometimes I struggled to engage, not sure what it was, but overall it was a good read.

Cute story.
It has a sweet concept.
It just isn’t the type of story I enjoy. Picture a genie trying to grant a wish... that’s kinda this story, but not really.

I really wanted to go into this book finding that I loved it. Especially, after reading this blurb. However, the story fell short for me in several areas. This was a very unusual premise. It takes the Genie idea and puts a whole new spin on it. Delightful characters, a few laugh out loud moments and romance. I really liked Ginny and appreciated that the author put some thought into the wish and not just having it done willy nilly. Marus/Mason was interesting as well.
I struggled a bit with how the book ended. It seemed to come together to perfectly. However, considering the storyline was pretty outlandish I guess, all things considered, it fit. I will look forward to more from this author.
An entertaining read:
This was a fun and light, easy read. I was initially skeptical about the whole mysticism and magic wishing aspect however it soon became apparent that this is not about supernatural powers. Aside from that I enjoyed considering what I'd wish for if I could have anything...
It was fun seeing Ginnie and Marus move towards an authentic relationship, however there are twists and obstacles for them to navigate along the way. They end up helping and 'fixing' one another and I was glad that they found peace and healing.
Overall I enjoyed this sweet and entertaining book.

The description of this book is something different in a romance novel and what a great new adventure it was. Having a man stalk you to make a wish to fill one of your hearts desires , I think most of us wouldn't mind. I was a little perplexed by the relationship between Mr Wish and the thrift shop owner, but it wasn't a big relationship in the book. I love Ginnie - full of spunk, sassy, determination - the kind of character that i love to follow along with. My first time readying a Mimi Jean Pamfiloff book and it won't be my last.
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC.
What a great read this was. I started it this morning and polished it off in one day. I'm glad that it was so good, I've had a bit of a slump in the good books department lately. I think that what I really enjoyed about this storyline wasn't the great writing or engaging characters (although it had both of these things) it was how fresh and original the storyline was. There are so many romance novels that follow well-trodden paths, that it was really something to come across something so different.
I don't want to give away any spoilers, so I might be a bit vague. It took me a while to see where this book was going. Was it a paranormal book? Was there more here than met the eye? Was it actually a romance at all? I have to admit that this one kept me guessing until the very end. Ginnie is a great character and she really meets her match with the hero in this book. I loved the development of the story.
This book has a good balance of lighthearted moments, it has a feeling of almost being a romantic comedy, without being laugh out loud funny, alongside some more serious elements.
I'm so glad that I got the chance to read this, one of the best and most original romance novels I've read in quite some time.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
You have one wish to make, what would it be?
Mimi Jean delivers another bell ringer with this incredible story that checks every box and then some.
Add a little mystical, magic in the form of a bottle and the man that goes with it and you have one heck of a compelling read.
Ginnie is an artist who repurposes glass to compose both her own art along with consigned work. She's been burned badly by her ex, so she's struggling. When a bottle she sees at a yard sale is snatched from her hand by a man who walks off with it, it sets off a classic Ginnie grumble. Imagine her surprise when she spies the bottle again at a thrift shop she frequents and grabs it up, along with some other pieces she needs to finish a piece she's working on. After a chat with the girl working the register she departs with her glass and spots a car that looks like the one the man who snatched it from her hand at the yard sale was driving. Coincidence? She heads home and going through her finds she notices there's a paper stuck in the bottle. She's got work to do, to get ready for the weekend farmers market where she encounters the man again. More shenanigans ensue and we meet Marus when he forces the wish issue with Ginnie. Marus is in the wish business. There are however caveats to the wish "contract" and Ginnie just stalls over the whole wish thing. Marus in part gives Ginnie what she wished for, with a few extras thrown in. Marus is one interesting, complex character and honestly I wish (no pun intended) more male characters don't have a few Marus qualities.
There's a great deal of mystery that surrounds Marus as well as we meet some side characters including his sister, the gal from the thrift store and Ginnie's own curiosity. Sometimes she can't leave well enough alone.
There isn't another thing I can add about this amazing read that hasn't been written. The plot was from the beyond, the characters well developed and the twists and turns, skids and slides were magical. I loved every single stinking second.
arc from NetGalley and publisher for an honest review.
I was intrigued by the blurb of this one and had visions of a Jennifer Crusie-type book running through my head. Unfortunately, it fell a bit flat for me. I had trouble connecting to either of the main characters; I just didn't really like them. And even though the plot is a really neat idea and unique, I did not find myself sucked into the story, In fact, I found myself skimming quite often because I wasn't engaged. I was, however, interested enough in finding out the truth behind all the secrets that I kept reading to the very end. I'm sure there are many readers who will love this one, so give a try.
