This was an okay romance for some easy escapism. It's a known story with predictable tropes, but if you're in the mod for those tropes (innocent virgin falls for bad boy who isn't so bad), this will fit the bill.
I received an Arc in exchange for an honest review.
Complementary copy for an honest review and opinion. This is a two part book so be warned that you will want the next book in hand. This is a great book and I can't wait to read the next one. Good job, Laura Pavlov!
Cruz Winslow is a cocky and arrogant budding musician. Jade Moore is a good girl with her entire life mapped out. She follows the rules - he doesn't. This book was a fast-paced and easy read. There are some incredibly sweet and adorable moments in this book. I really enjoyed this book. It was my first book by Laura Pavlov. I can't wait to dive into book two!
I loved this story. It was so so good. You really got into the story and fell into it headfirst. I can not wait to read the next one!!
I saw the cover and the description of this book and originally I thought it would be a quick light romance read that I could skim through on my spare time. I did not expected to get to invested into these characters, and once I picked it up I had to see where their story took them. The writing of this book was nice and smooth and the characters were so realistic, that I found myself unable to put this book down no matter what arose. The book switches view points between main characters Jade, who is trying her best to get the grades and succeed in college pushing all else aside, and Cruz who is just there because he has to be because it helps him made music with his brother. It was really interesting to see how each of the characters viewed each other and how differently their views and attitudes were. I love the character of Cruz right away and I couldn't wait to read more of his chapters. The chemistry between both characters was undeniable and even when they didn't want to admit it to themselves it was easy for the reader to pick up on. I think that the author did a great job in showing feelings that are usually hard to put down into words, and that in turn made everything about this book magical. This just the kind of book that made me fall in love with contemporary romance novels, and if you are a big fan of those or just good writing in general than this is one book that you have to read. An amazing read that was full of passion, and drama and I can't wait to read the next one.
Sorry this is a bit late, but I just finished this adorable rockstar romance book. One thing I really loved about this novel is that there wasn't a lot of angst. I needed something more sweet. The writing, in combination with the story, flowed so well that it was easy to fall into this book. I loved both of the main characters individually but especially enjoyed seeing the character development of Cruz throughout the story. It was hard to put the book down from start to finish and I got through it in what felt like no time at all.
This novel was a great introduction to the series, or even could be read and enjoyed as a standalone.
Ok! Ugh....
I received this book for an honest review!
I loved the main characters and their story. I felt like we had to much information for such a short span of time. I know the author has to paint a picture and get the back ground info in there in full, but it drug on to long!
I love her backstory with her mom and dad’s story. And that she was reading her moms life through her journals.
He on the other hand has money but a rough life because of his family. He has a great head on his shoulders but things are never easy.
I did love their romance and things and how quickly it all came together, I just think less is more sometimes.
The ending...oh the ending! It a cliffhanger that’s for sure. The trials they go through seems to only make them stronger in the end!
I gave it four stars and that’s a push for me!
Okay, first I want to start off by saying that the story does carry on into the next book, which I didn't know when I picked this up. Although I initially wasn't too psyched about this (I was really excited for their happy ending!!), I thought back to how, while reading, I was saying to myself 'I kinda wish they had more than one book because I need *More Jade and Cruz* ;).
(Also, isn't that cover gorgeous?)
This was a pretty interesting read for me. Usually, the heroes in rock star romances I've read share the same background: they've finally made it big, but they're in it for the music and they're tired of the fame etc. - that kind of thing. In this book, the hero Cruz isn't all that passionate about music, and he's actually dreading making it big. But he does it for his brother, Lennon, who is actually passionate about music. That was one of the reasons I came to adore him as a character, but more than that, he is just. SO. SWEET! He was so understanding and respectful of Jade, and he wasn't just a cocky rock star. As Jade said
"Cruz Winslow was beautiful on a regular day, but splash in a little vulnerability and the guy was even sexier."
As for Jade... I didn't love her as much as Cruz, but I did like her! There were some part where I cringed because of how naive she was, but I agree with what Cruz kept marvelling at throughout the book- she truly does appreciate everything. She has such a good support system, so many people that love her, but she loves them right back, and I couldn't imagine anyone better for Cruz. When she got so excited about Cruz's grade?? I knew I liked her. I also want to commend the author for keeping Jade so...consistent, I guess. At the start she was a little bit sassy, a little bit naive and a whole lot dedicated to studying. At the end she was still a little bit sassy, a little bit naive and a whole lot dedicated to studying...except some of the studying she was doing on dates with her boyfriend!
Now the romance!! At first I was scared that it was going to be an insta-love thing, based on their first meeting, but it wasn't (phew). I had visions of Cruz seeing Jade and thinking 'I need to make her mine' and starting pestering her, as well as them "running into each other" everywhere. Those things didn't happen, and the development of their relationship felt pretty natural. Sometimes I did have problems with their communication (aka I was frustrated as heck), but there were also times when things were resolved faster than I expected.
Overall, I would recommend this book, especially if you're looking for a rock star romance with something different.
