This was a hilarious kids book about making mischief. I love all the illustrations and will definitely be trying some of these.
This is the perfect book for a young trouble maker who can't get up to too much mischief with these fun pranks and activities. The book is split up into a few different chapters including pranks, challenges and musical instruments. Initially I thought the book was going to be focused mainly on pranks but it does give a much broader array of activities from how to make your own musical instruments from things at home to how to make your own water balloons. Many of the activities I remember from my own childhood. All of the instructions and drawings are simple and clear to understand.

This is a goofy book full of instructions for all sorts of pranks and tricks. The steps are all very clear and also include lots of silly illustrations. The writing is concise but also makes room for plenty of jokes or just humorous wording. There are also a handful of science facts regarding things like friction or physics. This is a great book for kids (or adventurous adults!) of all ages, and would make a good "to-do list" for summer vacation!
Lots of short instructions for simple gags, tricks, activities like playing spoons, making fake dog poop and easy magic tricks with colorful cartoon drawings. Many are very elementary but kids may find some good ideas.
(A hand injury makes me temporarily unable to type with my right hand so my reviews will be shorter than usual for a bit. Review copy via net galley).
The Mischief-Maker's Handbook by Mike Barfield and illustrated by Jan Buchczik was an unashamedly goofy book. And I'll admit, ninety percent of the reason why I decided to read it was due to the fact that I have a student who loves mischief. With how utterly fascinated this kid is with naughtiness, a part of me just can't help myself from thinking that it would be fun to offer him some harmless pranks to play.
While I'll say that this book is rife with simple, yet fun ideas, it's fair to say I knew about quite a number of them before I began reading this. Not all of the silly pranks in here are what I would consider great pranks, of course. I did, however, have a lot of fun reading it.
The illustrations really weren't for me. They're quite simple and do a superb job of depicting the various innocent mischief one can get into. The cover is a pretty good preview of what the rest of the book is going to look like. From fake milk spills to objects that make loud noises, The Mischief-Maker's Handbook is the ideal book to give your kids who like being a little bit naughty, but in an innocent way.
