This story grabbed my attention from the beginning and kept it for the entire story.

The plot is intelligent and well thought through. The characters are well-written and relatable.

Lots of plot twists that keep the reader on her toes throughout. Unsurprisingly nothing is quite what it seems and the PI has to work hard and consistently in order to get to the truth.

I loved how her extended family care for her and so, understandably, this creates some real tension as Kelly is a highly involved and devoted mum but she also discovers during her first real investigation that life as a PI is also part of who she is. This should make for some interesting storylines in additional books in the series.

On a personal note, I found some of the scenes a little brutal but understandable considering the context.

I highly recommend this Mystery Thriller.

Keliikoa has penned an exciting murder mystery, complete with a strong PI female protagonist, a budding romance with a sexy cop…and a lovable dog. Along with the fast-paced prose, snappy dialogue, and well-developed characters, the plot twists/turns kept me guessing and turning the pages until I finished the book. I absolutely adored tough and tender PI Kelly Pruett, the relationships she had with others, including her deaf daughter, her ex, and his mother, and how she refused to give up, even when her life was on the line. I’m looking forward to the next installment…

This book had me gripped from page 1. Kelly Pruett Private Investigator has had a difficult year. She discovered her husband had a affair with her best friend. Then her beloved Father passed away suddenly. Kelly has taken over her father's Private Investigator business. Her first client Georgette asks for help investigating her daughter's death. The police believe it was a tragic accident but Georgette is convinced otherwise. Kelly takes on the case as her father left her a mysterious letter asking her to help Georgette if she ever came to Kelly for help. The storyline is fast moving with a second murder and love interest. As Kelly begins to find out details of that night her own life becomes in danger. A gripping thriller I couldn't put down. I will definitely be looking out for more Kelly Pruett books.

I read this book in 2 sittings. With all the twist and turns that I love in a mystery, I couldn't put it down unless I had to. I can't wait for the next book in this new series to be released!

Kelly Pruett has recently lost her father, Roger Pruett. She inherits his PI business. She had worked along side her father process serving, court document research, serving warrants, etc. Her dad had handled all the cases.

In a letter that was left to her, he asked her to help Georgette Hanson if she ever needed anything. Georgette, not knowing that Roger has passed arrives at the PI office when Kelly is there. Georgette's daughter had fell and been hit by a train. She didn't feel it was accidental or suicidal. Police had closed the case and she needed a PI to look into it.

Kelly begins investigating her first real case. A possible new romance, family secrets revealed, jealous ex husband, a deaf daughter that would like to see her family back together and an overbearing ex mother in law keep Kelly on her toes at all times.

The twist and turns in the case leave you hanging till near the end before finding out who the killer is!

I love detective novels with a murder mystery. I enjoyed the characters. Kelly is so relatable. I liked her dynamic with her ex husband as co parents. Even though he cheated, they still care for each other.
Her love interest Kyle is a beautiful soul.
I kept turning the page eager fo find out what happened next. Whenever I thought the murderer was one person, more surprises came.
