This book is great for young readers. My 8-year-old daughter enjoyed reading it. It helps her with her emotions.

I felt like this book piggybacked on Disney/Pixar's Inside Out by creating characters that represented each of the feelings that Marcy was feeling. It kind of brought to life all of those feelings in a more concrete way.

I think it's very easy to relate to Marcy, even as adults. I know I felt every one of her emotions as I read through her day. I think kids will recognize a lot of them as well. And I appreciated her experience with having no feelings at all, because that is a scary and unsettling experience.

My favorite part is Marcy saying that she wants Happy all of the time and Happy explains that you can't have one without the others. (I think a lot of adults struggle with this concept as well.) And then once Marcy is able to embrace all of those feelings, she winds up with new ones, Peaceful and Confident. That's something we should be striving to help children achieve. So I thank the author for coming up with this concept. It's definitely one I would add to my classroom library.

Thank you the publisher and to NetGalley for providing me with a requested review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Helping children understand that their feelings are all valid, even the more difficult ones is one of the first steps in having a healthy relationship with one’s feelings and emotions. The younger a child is able to learn these skill, the more they will be able to manage their emotions as they come. This book does a great job introducing and validating each emotion and creates a safe space for them to all reside.

Embrace and Integrate Your Emotions

I really liked the vibrant colors and fine detail in this book. Cleverly, the emotions are depicted as small living things that look like tiny elves; emotions include Happy, Sad, Frustrated, Angry, Jealous, Embarrassed, and Worry plus a few more. They are in different colors to go with the emotion, like green for Jealous or dark blue for Sad. The gist of the book is that Marcy only likes having Happy as an emotion, not all the rest. We see a typical day of hers where negative emotions crop up when all she wants to be is happy. She only sees Happy once that day. After this tough day, Marcy wishes that all of her feelings would go away. But when that happens the next day, she finds herself feeling empty. And, of course, her favorite emotion, Happy, stays away as well. After this experience, she decides to embrace all of her emotions as they crop up. She faces her negative emotions head-on and comes to appreciate what they could teach her. Two new emotions emerge as well, Confidence and Peaceful. There's a page with three tips for parents and educators for them to give guidance to children so they can be more aware of and integrate their emotions.

This was a nice little book personifying feelings and talking about how they're important and also how it's ok to feel more than one way. Very useful with elementary students.

This is a really sweet book, sure to be helpful in teaching children how to balance and come to terms with their emotions. Marcy wants to feel happy all the time, but all these other feelings keep getting in the way! Finally she learns that the other emotions have their place too, and it's okay to feel them- they can even be helpful! The text treats the discussion of emotions in an age appropriate manner, and is very engaging and relatable. The illustrations pair so nicely with the story, and bring a lot of color and life into the mix. Definitely recommended for both home and classroom libraries.

As a mom who homeschools and has a child on the spectrum, I would highly recommend this book to other parents and teachers!

This book was just so cute! It was a great way to explore feelings with the 4yo munchkin and try to help her understand that it's ok to feel all of her feelings...especially frustrated, worried and jealous. She immediately asked to read it again!

Wow! What a fantastic picture book. It is so important to teach children from an early age that it is okay and perfectly normal to have feelings, and this picture book does exactly that! It was entertaining, and the illustrations were fun and interesting. What a great and important story that all children should read.

In Allison Edwards book Marcy's having all the feels I was blown away. Not only was she spot on with how we all feel as children with emotions we do not understand. But she showcases it in a humorous way for us as parents to be able to explain to our own kids when they have " all the feels".

Adorable! Love this book. It reminds me of the movie Inside Out. I love that the emotions are all Marcy's faces but different colors. I love the situations each emotion shows themselves in. I was hoping this book was appropriate for my 3.5 year old, but it isn't. I would love to see a sequel to this about Marcy's little bro/sister who is also learning about her feels to help younger kids identify their emotions as well. Again, love this book!

Marcy Having All the Feels is a good book to read with children to let them know it’s ok to have different feelings and how to deal with them. The illustrations are so well done and go perfectly with the story. I’d definitely recommend and/or buy this book.

I want to first start out and thank Allison Edwards and the National Center for Youth Issues. This is how you write this topic!! All the applause, seriously. Marcy's Having All the Feels by Allison Edwards is the perfect book to help explain all these different, wild emotions that we have on a daily basis. Kids need to understand that it's okay to have these feelings, that they are normal and be able to begin expressing them properly. I think the book does a great job of introducing and defining these terms in a way that is easy to understand. A+

It is a story about different feelings that we have. It tells that we have to accept all the feelings though we may like some and we may not like some. Illustrations are good.

I wasn't expecting to really enjoy this picture book, but I'm so happy that I've found an absolute gem! I am a big fan of picture books and as a teacher I am always searching for quality ones to use in the classroom, and I now know of another that I can purchase and use and I can't wait to grab my hands on a physical copy. This book is all about the feelings that we humans have and how sometimes they can become overwhelming or not wanted. Marcy always wants to feel Happy and when she finds Happy leaves and other feelings like Frustrated or Sad or Worry come along, she demands they leave and have Happy come back. But Happy doesn't come as often as she wants and instead Marcy becomes overwhelmed with all of her feelings and demands they go. After learning that having feelings is better than feeling empty, Marcy asks for her feelings to come back and learns that if she wants to feel happiness, she has to accept the other emotions as well. This is a fantastic lesson for children and adults alike and gives real-world strategies like not acting on emotions and instead waiting for the big emotional wave to pass before moving on. Many children struggle with acting on their emotions and without thinking things through, so this book will be a huge help for many families and schools around the world, especially for children who have heightened emotions and struggle with these.

Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to review this book for my honest opinion. Great story about all the emotions kids have and how to deal with them. The story and illustrations are age appropriate. It will be a great addition to any library looking to expand on emotional education.

Marcy's Having All the Feels is a cute & colorful picture book about a little girl and her emotions. Marcy goes through a whole range of emotions during the day and each is represented by a little brightly colored being. Marcy doesn't like having all of these emotions, she just wants to feel happy all of the time.

This was a sweet story that was reminiscent of the Pixar film Inside Out. The main take home message is that it is important to have a variety of emotions, not just happiness.

I recommend this book for anyone that needs to explain or teach about how you might feel differently each day or even different times in each day, and how to use those feelings to learn how to understand yourself better: The pictures and colors of each emotion make it easier for younger students understand the concepts of the emotions. This would be both a great read aloud, small group, and one to one read.
