"Ghosting" by Tash Skilton offers a unique and modern take on romance in the digital age, blending humor with heartfelt moments. The story revolves around two ghostwriters for competing online dating services in Los Angeles, who unknowingly form a connection while hiding behind their clients' profiles. Skilton crafts a witty and engaging narrative, utilizing the concept of "ghosting" both literally and figuratively to explore themes of identity, love, and the complexities of online relationships. While the novel is inventive and entertaining, some readers may find the plot slightly predictable and the resolution a bit too convenient. Nonetheless, "Ghosting" is a refreshing and light-hearted read that captures the spirit of contemporary dating culture with charm and humor.

É um livro que vai para o humor, mas que para mim falhou na entrega do bom romance. Achei muitas coisas meio absurdas.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a really cute love story. Slow start but the buildup is worth it!

I’ve had this on my shelf since 2020 so I’m guessing it was the title and cover that initially drew me in. I haven’t seen You’ve Got Mail so any reference to it’s likeness was lost on me.

Overall I really liked the premise of Ghosting and loved that it was set in NYC. I enjoyed the nods to the different areas and could definitely envision the locations. Zoey and Miles were both fun characters and I liked how they went from enemies to lovers. Some of the plot was a little predictable but it felt very modern being set around online dating.

My only real gripe is that it was a little too long and sometimes a bit repetitive.

I really enjoyed the last 40% of this book. But the first 60% dragged on, and I considered DNFing a couple of times. I wish that had been edited down a bit. I'm glad I stuck it out though, because I really enjoyed seeing how everything resolved.

If you've dated, you've likely been ghosted and this story brings the term Ghosting to life. Sweet story that shows the complexities of ghosting.

I thought this book was super cute and hilarious. Zoey and Miles work for competing dating services doing the same job: ghost-writing for clients to help them create profiles and speak to matches online. In real life, the pair despise one another, fighting for real estate and pastries at the same coffee shop. They don’t realize that the flirting they’re doing while posing as their clients is with each other. I loved both Zoey and Miles. I have a tendency to dislike quirky characters—usually because it feels forced—but Zoey truly was a one of kind. I liked all the layers to her. Same with Zach. Even after being heartbroken and swearing there is no such thing as real love, he’s a romantic at heart. I loved the juxtaposition of the online flirting and their real-life interactions. The story is set with New York City as the backdrop, and while I’ve never been, I felt immersed. This witty rom com is perfect for fans of Nora Ephron.

I loved the premise of this book- mistaken/unknown identity with the modern twist if online- adorable! I unfortunately didn’t find that it was executed well. It just felt flat. There didn’t feel like there was realistic banter and sass. It felt like it was just a couple of steps away from good.

This book was so awkward, cringy and boring! Who acts like Zoey and Miles? Who talk like it? The online dating was wierd and unrealistic. Their chemistry non-existent. I wanted to rather watch paint dry, than to finish this. But i finished it, in hope that it would change..that it would turn around at some point and i`d love it. it did not. UGH. Hard pass.

"'For what it's worth I don't think it's true, that some people aren't cut out for things, or that they can't change. People can always adjust, people can learn to enjoy new things, even if they didn't before.'"

One thing I always enjoy about reading romance books is I typically know exactly what is going to happen even before I have started the book. This book was no different. Back in early 2020, I went on a huge NetGalley requesting spree and soon enough, I found this book in my to-read queue. I knew nothing about the plot, because that's how I often request books but I knew as soon as Miles and Zoey both stated they worked as ghost writers how this story was going to end up. I enjoyed both of their stories and how they ended up where they were at the point this story picked up: Miles is going through a rough breakup after his fiancee gets pregnant with the fitness instructor (oof) and Zoey has been sent to live in NYC by her very eccentric former actress boss. Zoey is struggling to adapt to NYC after living in California for so many years and often finds herself freaking out to cross the street or complete other simple tasks.

Both Miles and Zoey work as ghostwriters at competing companies where they are hired to act as their client on an online dating website. Miles writes for Jude, a guy entirely into craft beer while Zoey falls for his Scottish accent. Meanwhile, Zoey is writing for Bree, a girl who just can't seem to make it past the first date. Miles and Zoey have an instant connection while they are chatting together online but when Jude and Bree meet for the first time in real life, it's nothing short of a disaster. Miles and Zoey have to work overtime to convince their clients to continue the relationship. Offline, Miles and Zoey have met in real life and seem to have a deep dislike of each other and working out who will get to sit at the big table at their local coffee shop.

Like I said earlier, it didn't take me long to see where this story was going. The only thing I wasn't sure about was when Zoey and Miles were going to figure out they had a completely different relationship online than they did offline. Once the two of them figured things out, I figured that would be the end of the story so I was completely taken aback by some steamy scenes towards the end of the book. This is definitely an adult romance book! There wasn't anything wrong with this book, but I also found myself mildly annoyed with Zoey in particular. I can't quite put my finger on what annoyed me about her, but something about her personality rubbed me the wrong way and I found myself wanting to get back to Miles and his story. Overall, an enjoyable romance, but not one I'll want to read again at any point in time.

I thought this book was interesting and I really liked the premise of the book, but the first half of the book was a little slow for me. The main characters are interesting but I did find myself rolling my eyes at them quite a bit.

I found the idea of ghostwriting for a dating app super intriguing and a completely unique plot.

This book made me laugh out loud and I really enjoyed the entire story. I liked the fact that he writes articles about love even though he doesn't believe in love anymore after his fiancée left him.

I thought the first half of Ghosting was slow. I felt like it took forever to get to where it was going. The second half was definitely better. I liked the whole "ghostwriter" concept. Overall, this was an average romance story to me. I didn't hate it, I didn't love it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my copy!

I would totally recommend this book to fans of You’ve Got Mail. It has a good ending, it is well written and it was fun to read. Oh! And the characters were also likable and that's important in a story like this one.

A new favorite!

I just adored this "You’ve got mail"-type romcom, set in the modern times of online dating.
The banter was EVERYTHING I hoped for, the characters adorable, the plot quick to get through (because I couldn’t put it down).
I loved how present NYC was in this story, it almost felt like a character of it’s own.

I can’t wait to reread it - and I already ordered a bunch of German copies for the bookstore I work in.

You want to find your perfect match but don’t know how to start a conversation or even keep on? Don’t worry ghostwriters are here to help you!
In this book we have Miles and Zoey who work for rival companies, and they definitely do NOT like each other but as Jude and Bri (their clients) they definitely LIKE each other very very much!<3

This book was so so so cute! I didn’t expect myself to fall in love this madly!
I even went around to spread the word about it<3 the authors were AMAZING! It would be a really great concept for a movie.

Zoey and Miles’s rivalry and banters were so enjoyable, I didn’t want them to end but I also wanted them to KNOW they are talking to each other online (yes, I screamed a lot)

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the rivalry and banter was so much fun. I also liked the premise of hiring someone else to speak on your behalf before meeting up. It made for some really funny and awkward scenes. Overall, I would recommend this book. I would love to hear more from Zoey and Miles.
