I am starting to get into these modern age ways of meeting and tech romances. I liked this story and the pace. I really like this book.

When I found out that the main characters in this book work as dating app ghostwriters, I had to satisfy my curiosity and discover if this is real. Turns out it is an actual profession... And maybe I need to hire one. Just kidding. Probably. As far as you know 😉.

Miles' post-breakup gloom and Zoey's anxiety and homesickness as a New York transplant lead to the battle for biscotti that starts at all. In the real world, they wage war for the best real estate in their favorite café. In the murky fake world of dating apps, they fall for each other while writing for their clients with no idea they might not be the only "man behind the curtain."

The side characters add sparkle from the good (Carrie Fisher-inspired Mary) to the bad (Zoey's ridiculous and offensive boss, Clifford). The settings also set the scene beautifully, including the aforementioned café, the utterly pretentious "Hotel the," and a delightful restaurant called Cheese, specializing in-- you guessed it-- all things cheesy.

What else is there to say? It was cute, funny, and cringey in turns, as all great rom coms should be.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the opportunity to read and review this book!

I totally expected the main characters to be ghosted by a love interest/online match at the beginning of the book - which is so not what happened. Instead, both Miles and Zoey work as ghost-writers for people on online dating sites, helping to start and continue conversations. Their clients get matched, and they end up chatting...and the rest, as they say, is history. (Well, except for their competition over tables at a cafe, not knowing each other's professions, becoming neighbors, and an ex's reappearance).

A very cute, modern story which I very much enjoyed!

Don’t be fooled by the title. This has nothing to do with ghosts, but rather is about two aspiring writers trying to make it in New York City by taking jobs working at competing services that offer help to people posting on dating websites to help them get dates. These two aspiring Cyranos meet up at a coffee shop when they fight over the free biscotti and the best table. They don’t realize that they are competitors who are actually advising the man and woman who are attracted to each other’s online profiles. As Miles and Zoey start texting each other in the guise of their clients, they start to fall for each other. Meanwhile, their clients prefer real life to the pretend identities that Miles and Zoey are crafting for them.

There is a whole lot of strange serendipity and even a sort of fairy godmother to help Zoey along until they can each find their HEA. If you can suspend disbelief, you’ll have fun with this rather different sort of plot.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

This modern day rom-com was fresh, feel good and so much fun. It had me laughing out loud, which during this time of uncertainty was absolute perfection.

Miles and Zoey meet at a NYC coffee shop while competing over the best table. Unbeknownst to them they are both ghostwriters for rival dating apps. Furthermore- they don't even realize they are falling for each other. I immediately fell in love with the snappy dialogue and stuck around for the slow burn romance. I also really enjoyed the side characters: Mary, a quirky cult-classic actress turned script doctor and eye-roll inducing bosses Clifford and Leann. I originally got to know my husband via online chat, so I have a soft spot for the You've Got Mail/Cyrano/SetItUp vibe.

I was given a copy of the book from
Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book was conflicting; it started out very strong. But eventually I lost interest in it and had to force myself to continue it. I didn’t relate to the characters and felt that their chemistry was lacklustre and their development was almost non-existent. And the plot took forever for anything to happen.

Cute story? Kinda. Would I recommend it? Probably not.

3.5 stars!
Thank you NetGalley & Kensington Books for providing this ARC for review.
Zoey & Miles, both ghostwriters for dating sites. Nemesis in real life due to wanting the same table at their local coffee shop but in the online dating world they start developing a relationship. The concept is very interesting and for me it started that way but there were moments were the story was a little flat and I lost interest. Will say all-in-all it was a feel good story.

All in all , I really enjoyed this book. I believed in Zoey and Milles' motivations and loved watching them work together to overcome their respective life hurtles - often without even realizing they were doing it! It's a fun, quick read and I love New York for the backdrop of this story.

As far as modern romances go, this one was by far one of the more realistic ones. Sure there's a bit of an elephant in the room that if the characters talked about from the get-to would negate the need for much of the plot points. But you know what, I'm here for it! Plus, would it be a rom-com book if there wasn't some big flaw in communication between the protagonists that gets in the way of them eventually falling in love? Probably not.

I received this book "Ghosting: A Love Story" from NetGalley and all opinions expressed are my own. This was a unique type of book for me to read. It started off slow but it did get better. It was fun, silly, and very unusual. The emails were extremely hard to read on the kindle as they were in light type. I liked the banter between Zoey and Miles the best. Who is going to get the best table? haha

I tried to read this I had high expectations but this book felt drawn out and Miles comes off very irritating for some reason. I had to stop reading since I was getting annoyed.

Probably one of the best rom coms for 2020! I'm a huge fan of love-to-hate relationships and this one was so cute! All the stars!!

This was an interesting contemporary romance. While not my usual genre to read, with some adult language and situations, I enjoyed the story. Watching Zoey and Miles compete for the 'big table' at the cafe and a number of other humorous situations kept my interest. Zoey and Miles both have challenging pasts to deal with and their jobs are not secure. They each are ghosting for rival online dating services and as things progress with their clients, they realize things aren't quite what they thought. Readers who enjoy quirky rom com will not want to miss this one. I was given a complimentary copy of the book by KensingtonBooks and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.

This one is not for me. Just couldn’t get into it. Maybe a little “young” for my tastes. I did like the writing style and can see it’s easy peasey story appeal to many. Thank you publisher and netgalley for this arc in exchange of an honest review.

This one was a slow burn and I sometimes felt the writing was trying too hard to be quirky with its pop culture references and crazy boss emails. Eventually it progressed and I enjoyed the banter and budding chemistry between Zoey and Miles. I appreciated the characters’ inner monologues, accurate reflections on the dating app scene, and laughed when I realized most people on the internet could use the benefits of these dating ghostwriters.

Overall I enjoyed the story and would recommend to anyone looking for a light entertaining romance that pokes fun at the modern dating scene.

Man, I tried to persevere but this isn’t for me. I feel really bad because I love You’ve Got Mail retellings and this has received other glowing reviews, but I’m having difficulty connecting to the writing style. It wouldn’t be fair to me or the book if I continued.

I really enjoyed this romantic comedy. I loved all of the characters they were great. Miles, Zoey and Mary were my favourite characters. I loved the plot and the idea of dating app ghostwriters. This was an interesting spin and not your typical dating app story. I did find it funny how Zoey made Miles seem like such an asshole, from her perspective when we didn't get those vibes at all. I would highly recommend this romantic comedy.

Ghosting: A Love Story was such a cute light hearted read. ⁣

I have never heard of hiring someone to make your dating profile catchy, and at first I was like man, you are basically lying to get someone to like you; but I guess some people just aren’t outgoing at first and need a little push. The conversations between ghost writers were cute and quirky and enjoyable to read. ⁣

Zoey and Miles had such funny banter between them and I loved every second about their frenemies to lovers vibes. It’s definitely a good cute fast read! ⁣#romcom #ghostingalovestory #books #bookstagram

A cute rom-com with witty writing and feel good appeal. This felt like a homage to romantic comedies everywhere. The outline is basic and not in the least original but it always works (which is why it is always used, tried and true). The characters are like able enough, their problems aren’t too problematic and their issues magically resolve themselves with a cloying background soundtrack. That said, it is a super fun, quirky novel which has you laughing out loud and turning the pages.

Ghosting: A Love Story: Tash Skilton

Release date: May 26, 2020

Addictive, heartfelt, and witty; a slow burn rom-com.

Filled with banter and charm, Ghosting: A Love Story, is by far one of my favorite rom-coms of the year. Zoey and Miles are [unbeknownst] rivals as ghost writers for competing online dating services. On a parallel plot, they are also rivals at a neighborhood coffee shop where they compete for the prime working locations and day-old baked goods.

More than just a quick read, happy rom-com, this novel addresses the modern day fallacies of dating and the complications that often follow. I completely fell in love with both characters; both are quick witted and charming in their own ways.

The only thing I didn’t love was the choice of title for the novel. Personally, I’m not sure if its fitting since its namesake holds such a small portion of the book. My opinion would focus more on that part of the novel, I know there is probably a page limit but painting a detailed picture of just how painful the ghosting was, may make the ending not only stronger, but more believable.

Along with posting on Net Galley, I will be posting my review to Goodreads, Amazon (when it becomes available), my Instagram (which has over a two thousand book review followers) and my blog. Please find the link to my blog post below. I am very grateful for the opportunity to review such a fun, exciting rom com. Thank you very much.
