I found this one a bit slow. Miles and Zoey are great characters, but by the time they got together I just didn't care about their relationship anymore.
This book was entertaining even if it did not contain a unique storyline. The characters were engaging and even though the readers could probably figure out the outcome of the story it was still enjoyable.
Simple the quintessential rom com enemies to lovers for the millennial age. I really enjoyed such a funny easy read and look forward to more from this author.
Cuteness overload. I love books like this. Everything was so perfect the way the book was written. I can’t wait to read more of this Author.
I really enjoyed reading this book. This is because it was such an easy read and I read it fairly quickly.
Zoe, the female protagonist is a character that you can’t help but love. It felt like you were experiencing things with her and helped you empathise with her reactions. It was really lovely to witness the development of her character, as she grew in both confidence and personality.
I would recommend this book to lovers of rom-coms and those that need a pick me up.

Dumped by his fiancée, not only is Miles couch-surfing across New York City, but downsizing has forced him to set up shop at a local café. Also, he no longer believes in love. Not a good look in his line of work…helping people find love as a ghostwriter for a failing dating site.
Thank you for the copy of Ghosting. I was intrigued by the cover and synopsis for this one. I tried to pick it up a few times, but I was not able to connect with the story line and characters. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. I'm sure that others will like it and I have seen several favorable reviews for it. Thank you again for the opportunity to read Ghosting.

This was a classic enemies to lovers romance book. I thought the plot was well conceived and executed, and the characters were interesting enough to keep me involved in the book. They were a lot more involved as people than I sometimes see in romance novels. Readers who like a slow developing, but satisfying, romance will enjoy this book. 4 stars.

DNF
I read 20% or so, but I couldn't connect to the concept. These business seemed so ludicrous to me that I couldn't get past it, nor did I connect to any of the voices or the humor.
I liked the premise of the book. Ghostwriters falling in love was a cute storyline. Unfortunately it took me a long time to get into this book, I don’t really know why. The main characters were great but I was bored easily with the storyline. Overall, it was an okay book. I do recommend this to others that like cute romances.
I received the ARC from the publisher and Netgalley for my honest review. Thank you.
A really quick and cute story! I will have to make sure to look for this author in the future!
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.
This book was written by two authors, and it feels like it. There were times I was quite charmed by it, and then a chapter or two later I'd be rolling my eyes. And occasionally there would be some detail that didn't quite make sense, or something that hadn't been important before was suddenly LIFE OR DEATH CRISIS DEAL BREAKER THREAT LEVEL MIDNIGHT. I loved that the cast of characters was diverse, and that it was a love letter to both authors' hometowns (NY and LA), but the hero and heroine could both be unlikable at times without much redemption, and numbers didn't add up as to how they could each live in an expensive city on maybe $250 a week (and buy coffees and takeout dinners constantly). The Carrie Fisher-esque landlady/mentor, the tedious work emails, and the pretentious "Hotel the" provided some great moments though.
The book was billed as the retelling of Cyrano / The Shop Around the Corner / You've Got Mail, and those are some big (and wholesome) shoes to fill. So Zoey's incessant weed obsession and the sex scene that happens without much romantic lead-up will probably not be a hit with those looking for a Hallmark Channel vibe. But for a quick, light read, you could do worse.
Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for a digital ARC for the purpose of an unbiased review.
Thank you for letting me read and review this book. Unfortunately this book was not for me. I think I have a case of pandemic reading.
I have to come to realize that this book is just not for me. I tried picking it up many times in hopes that it would be different, but it was not. I didn't particularly care for the characters or what happened to them and ended up DNFing it.
Ghosting is a classic romcom with a 2020 twist! Perfect escapism for this messed up world! I liked both of the main characters which doesn't happen very often, and I enjoyed the journey the story took as the plot unfolded.
I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own.
This was a cute romance/rom-com book. I didn't overly love the main characters since they were a little too quirky for me but loved that there was some diversity in their ethnic backgrounds! I also thought the enemies to lovers troupe played out really nicely in this book. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author (which is actually the pen name of two authors - woohoo more authors to add to my to read list!)
Thought this book would be cute and funny and uplifting, but it pushed the need for cute too far and it ended up looking, feeling, and seeming immature to the point of being childish at times, like this was 2 kids in kindergarten recess and not 2 grown adults who are gainfully employed, at that. It just felt too forced to me and that made it fall flat as an enjoyable read for me
I struggled with the beginning of Ghosting: A Love Story. The writing style really took some getting used to. I always wonder for books like this with multiple authors, how they split up the writing. I felt like the second half of the book flowed better for me but I don't know if it was just because I'd gotten used to the writing style. Because so much of the book was in the form of digital communications, emails, texts, chat messages and for a lot of it there was nothing separating it from the rest of the text so it got confusing at times. In terms of romance, this was definitely a slow burn with the main characters not even admitting their attraction until 75% into the book and then the actual romance part seemed kind of rushed.
I really loved the premise of the story though. It was a play off of You've Got Mail, which is a play off of my favorite old movie The Shop Around the Corner, which made me so happy to see it name dropped in the book. I actually liked the characters a lot. Miles was interesting in an annoying way and I really felt for Zoey. While I might be a bit let down by the romance, there were lots of great elements to the story and relationships did play a very important role. A lot of time was spent on the relationship between Zoey and Mary which is actually my favorite part of the book. I also did enjoy the humor in this book. There were a lot of jokes and a lot of references that were pretty entertaining. The thing that bothered me the most about the book was how the ending was wrapped up so neatly. I love a good grovel and I think Miles needed to suffer a bit more for what he'd done before he deserved a happily ever after. I had a lot of mixed feelings but overall I thought the book was good. It's not my favorite but I did enjoy it.
Almost-30-year-old Zoey is new to NYC, and struggling to both make ends meet and avoid a panic attack on the subway. She's got a strange freelance job as a dating app ghostwriter, and the cafe across from her house has good coffee and free wifi. Unfortunately, it also has Table Thief, the man who stole the last day-old biscotti, and has taken up residence at the only good place to sit. Soon, the two are engaged in a daily war for the table. Who cares if he's cute? He's obnoxious.
Miles has been burned by his ex-fiancee, who left him for their yoga instructor. He's sworn off love, and it's making his day job difficult. Little does Zoey know, Miles works for a rival dating ghostwriting service (yes, there are two in this world), and the two of them are actually chatting with each other on behalf of their respective clients. In the real world, they're enemies. But online, they're flirting and maybe even falling for each other.
This has all the charm and warmth of a good rom com. There are obvious parallels to You've Got Mail, except no is being catfished by Tom Hanks, because neither of them knows they're talking to the other. The plot is a bit farfetched, but if you suspend disbelief and accept the wacky characters (ex-spouses with rival ghostwriting firms, eccentric '80s cult movie stars who own apartment buildings and give rent breaks to struggling artists), you'll enjoy the ride.
I haven't read anything by this author team before, but I'll definitely be checking out their other books. They've got a nice, light touch, and obviously good imaginations!
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the authors for the ARC to review.
I really enjoyed the story and I loved the concept of romance developing via text messages however, it was a little too slow for me. On saying that, it is a very entertaining and cute enemies-to-love story, perfect for a cozy weekend in bed!
