4.5 stars — I made the mistake of reading this book while I was listening to another book that had a lot of similarities, so I will admit that that had me flustered and confused sometimes. Rookie mistake, I swear. Regardless of all that, I really fell in love with the quirky characters in this book, from our MCs to the small town. They made the book, and I loved my time in the crazy town of Whichway.

Clementine was quirky, sassy, vulnerable, conflicted…and seriously naive (but in an endearing way I think). There were so many little treats in this book — watching Clementine be accepted by the townspeople, seeing her connect with Chloe…it was all so satisfying. I loved all those little moments, all those wins for her. I didn’t even mind if some felt too good to be true, because Clem deserved that. She had me rooting for her even though she made some classic character mistakes that usually irk me (making assumptions, being a martyr, etc).

Jack was such an intriguing character in his own right, so many strange contradictions. I fell in love with his shy awkward self, and I understood his more dominating tendencies after hearing his tale of growing up. It was hot, but I was more in love with the sweating, bumbling, doesn’t-know-how-to-flirt Jack…what can I say, dorkiness does it for me. I appreciated that he was also shaped very strongly by things that happened when he was growing up…even as he had a loving family.

And they definitely had chemistry in spades. It was the tummy tingling, smiling, giggling kind…mixed with a large dose of heat.

I definitely called all the twists and turns pretty early on, but I don’t think that dimmed my enjoyment…it just made me hurt for Clementine more, because it showcased how much someone can be influenced from a young age. Basically it highlighted her naivety.

The book definitely wouldn’t have been the same without the secondary characters…they were delightful. It almost felt like the town itself was a character — it added so much uniqueness and flavour and fun.

The only reason I’m not rounding up is that I wasn’t completely sucked in…I found my mind wandering. But that might not be the book, it might just be me and the mood I was in. It’s definitely the kind of book I’m going to want to come back to and revisit sometime when I need some feel-good moments.

This rom-com was lighthearted and quirky, and a true representation of the genre. 'Clementine Abernathy' is possibly the best character name ever. I'm a longtime fan of Peter Mayle and his art heist novels, so this book hit me in the nostalgia. It's a good rainy day, pass the time kind of story.

I just finished the book and the last 100 pages made me give it two stars.

The ending was cute, predictable and exactly the kind one expects from a rom-com. The bginning though, maybe it wasn't for me. I couldn't connect with Clementine from the beginning, I found myself skimming the pages.

Despite of Jack and Clementine's romance being cute, I'm not a beleiver of love at first sight, swooning over the a person after first touch. Still I enjoyed reading Jack and Clementine's cute conversations, their romance was worthwhile.

The town and place's name might have been a humorous twist but they seemed too fictitious for me take the characters seriously. I do not by any means, intend to bash the author's work, I respect the amount of hardwork to create this book and I look forward to reading other works by her.

The writing was good. But there was a quirkiness that just didn't work for me. While I liked the relationship between hero and heroine I didn't enjoy the fascination with Elvis or with reptiles.

This story was really cute and just the kind of fun contemporary read I needed. Clementine is a "modern day Robin Hood" with her eyes set on her latest target, a priceless Van Gogh owned by the hero, Jack. While she tries to steal the artwork, Jack wants to steal her heart.

I really enjoyed the contrast between the two characters and their lifestyles. It made the dialogue and relationship building between Clementine and Jack really fun to witness and left me wanting more. This story, though, was very heavily focused on the characters' dynamics rather than the action of the heists so that's definitely something to consider if the heist aspect is what drew you to the story. But I for one, love a good story based around the characters and therefore really enjoyed it.

I haven't read anything by Kelly Siskind before but I'm tempted to pick up more of her stories after this one. I enjoyed her writing style and found it very easy to follow along. While it does touch on heavier topics, I would still call this fairly lighthearted and I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to read a good romantic comedy.

If you're looking for a well-written romance with Elvis impersonators and fun bearded dragons, you're in for a treat. I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Jack and Clementine develop. There were so many sweet moments between the two. I will say that for anyone who is like me and looking for that extra flair of heist action, you may be in for a disappointment as the majority of the story focuses on Clementine trying to come to terms with her past and struggling with how she commits crimes for a living. This was the only aspect of the book that I would critique, but that's more of a personal preference of the storyline, the writing and character development is excellent and I will definitely be reading more of Kelly Siskind's books! I was given an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 stars.

This book has a very interesting concept and it what made me request it from Netgalley. Also, I thought it'd be nice rom-com. I was wrong. This book is not bad, I think it's still a nice read that's why it got 3.5 stars from me. But I didn't enjoy it that much.

I do love the characters. Maxwell is adorable and Clementine is clever and driven. I really admire her dedication to helping foster kids because she knows how hard it is to be one. She wants to help even if it means she does unlawful things. She is like a modern Robinhood. That concept alone is an interesting plot point but overall, I think the plot is all over the place.

There are a lot of things in the plot that I feel overwhelmed reading them. There's Clementine unlawful job, her secrets, her sob story, and overall complicated life, and then later her feelings to Max. See there are already lots to deal with Clementine alone. With Maxwell, it's his family, their company, his awkward social ability, and then his goal to win this year's Elvis tribute contest. I don't mind these conflicts individually but put all of them together in one book...

I just think that there's no need to include all complications known to fiction in one story, especially if it's a romance story and is branded and advertised as humor. The promotion is entirely misleading. I didn't laugh even once the entire time reading it. I'm not saying it's depressing, but I wouldn't label this as rom-com. Also, the twist at the end is not that interesting but that's just me.

Still, this is a nice read and I still recommend this. Just don't expect it to be a perfect rom-com. Clementine always reminds the reader of her past and present complicated life so there's really not a lot of time to laugh.

This was an entertaining story, but I was expecting something lighter. The story has some heavy topics including child abuse, bullying, psychological manipulation, suicide, and violence. Also, the whole Elvis sexual fetish thing was totally not my cup of tea. If that had been in the description, I would have passed on this one. I liked the story overall, but it wasn't

I just couldn't get into this one. I'm not sure what it was exactly because I really liked Clementine and Jack but I think it's becasude the whole premise was just a bit... Bizarre.

I know Robin Hood was a thing but it's not really a story that I feel translates to modern day and this just seemed too far fetched for me. To really enjoy.

That said, I enjoyed the writing and I'd definitely read this author again.

Rating: 3.5

The yellow cover drew me in but the premise sold me. I mean who doesn't want to read a romance with a real life catwoman? I definitely did and here we are. I had a good experience with this one overall. There were a couple things that made me go hmm but that's okay.

Clementine was an interesting character to read about. She doesn't have a great background and that is what has led her to the life of crime. She definitely isn't your typical criminal though. She does everything with good intentions. It's easy to see why she does it and feel for her.

Jack has a much better background and even though that's the case, it's easy to see why they would like one another. There is also common ground later on the book which definitely brings them even closer together. He is a very awkward, terrible flirt kind-of-guy and as an Elivs impersonator, that made for an interesting plot point. Haha.

I will say that this book may not be for someone who has dealt with suicide because it is mentioned.

A few things I didn't like, but this is just personal taste, was one of the stories Jack told from his childhood, the sex jokes between them, and how quickly their relationship went. I'm not going to talk about the childhood besides that I am sure it was meant for humor but honestly it was more gross and weird than anything. I get the jokes because there was tension between them but again personal preference. As for their relationship, he was able to quickly forgive her and she also moved in pretty quickly but it was pretty slow-burn until that point so I let it slide a bit.

Overall, it was a pretty good read and I liked the burglar aspect. It was definitely a unique plot and one i haven't read before.

O que me chamou atenção em Don't Go Stealing My Heart foi justamente esse trocadilho com a música do Elton John (Don't Go Breaking My Heart).

Gostei bastante do conflito final.

Clementine Abernathy is a con woman who steals art to make money for the poor. When Clementine's boss Lucien gives her the next assignment it's to find Elvis Presley in a small Nebraska town. Every year the town hosts an Elvis festival in which she will be sitting in as a judge in disguise.

David Maxwell is the owner of the Van Gogh in which Clementine is supposed to steal. David and Clementine meet by chance prior to the festival when David’s car breaks down on the side of the road. Rule #1 don’t fall in love with the man you are attempting to steal a painting from…….

This book was marketed as a rom com; however, I found the comedy parts to be spread thin throughout the book. I did love the budding relationship between Clementine and David. I also enjoyed the originality with Clementine being a con woman and with the Elvis festival. All in all, I thought this to be an enjoyable read but it could have been wrapped up around the 65% mark.

Big thank you to CD Books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book to read and review!

This story is for those who love a good thriller with a twist at the end. Clementine and Jack, though polar opposites are lovable characters despite their flaws and quirkiness. You root for them and hold your breath at the same time. Their friends and colleagues see through their tough exteriors and help them discover who they really are. Anymore details will give away the plot, so take a seat and jump into this story, you'll enjoy it.

I absolutely adore a book that has characters with history and backstory that is handled really maturely. Yeah, Clementine had quite some baggage, and she deceived Maxwell, obviously - that's the whole premise of the book, trying to steal his Van Gogh. But the way she handled the situation was miraculously mature for a contemporary romance story and I loved it so much.

This was sweet and sexy and raw and emotional and funny. Clementine and Maxwell are really great characters and really good to and for each other. Kelly Siskind had given us a pure story of forgiveness; how to forgive yourself and others, with a whole lot of love on every page. This book stole my heart!

Let me start by saying I absolutely adored this book!!!

Clementine has spent her adult life as a modern day Robin Hood. She steals from the rich to give to the poor, as she was raised in foster care. Her latest assignment is to steal a rare Van Gogh painting, but when Clementine falls for the son of the family it belongs to, her task isn't so simple...

This book was incredible. I adored Clementine as a character, and I fell in love with Jack. Not only did this story have romance and laughs, but it also had an excellent back story that I don't see in many romance novels. In my view, the back story mixed with the romance made for a more believable and deep read than other romances I have read recently.

I had never heard of Kelly Siskind before reading this book, but I will definitely be checking out her past books, and eagerly awaiting her new ones.

I would highly recommend this if you enjoy romance novels that have depth to them but don't sacrifice the steam.

Huge thanks to CD Books and NetGalley for providing me an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Well, this was refreshing and different! Don’t Go Stealing My Heart is a unique standalone contemporary romance. I’ve never read a book like this, with characters like this. Clementine is a modern day Robin Hood. She steals from the rich to give to the poor. She’s had a very hard life, losing both parents at a young age, entering foster care and enduring difficult circumstances. When she is assigned to steal a painting from a rich guy, she thinks it should be easy. What she doesn’t expect is to have an instant connection with this man, Jack. He’s not what he seems, and she begins to fall for her mark. There’s also some thrilling scenes in there with some rival thieves. It’s quirky, fun, and entertaining, and I would absolutely recommend this lighthearted romance to all.

This is the story of Clementine who is a cat burglar charged with stealing a rare Van Gogh painting from the David family. The David Family live in a small town in Nebraska called Whichway and it is know for its Elvis Tribute Artist concert. Every year Jack David is in the show and this year Clementine has him marked so she can get close to the painting that hangs in the David's home. During the book we see how Clementine grapples with the life she's in and if she deserves anything more. Jack was a very compassionate person which was just what Clementine needed to realize there was more for her in life. I really enjoyed this one overall, I thought the plot and characters where really fun and well developed. One of my favorite things in the book is the name of the places in the town. You have the Who's It's Cafe, Wherever Park, Whenever is a bar and the the Whatnot Diner. I thought this just added a nice touch to the overall sense of the town. I will say this was a bit steamy at times so just know that going in. I would pick this one up if you are looking for a fun and charming read. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you Netgalley and CD Books.

It is hard to explain why I thought this book was only 'okay' for me. The book has aspects I normally like.

A heroine with a tragic childhood, stealing from the rich to help the poor. A hero who seems to have it all, but has family troubles and is trying to save the business. Clementine is on her way to Whichway to try and steal a painting from Jack's family. They have a meet cute where she somehow reveals her real name and they have an instant spark. But she has a plan to execute...

The writing is good, the story has original aspects. But somehow, I did not have that urge to pick up where I left off after putting my Kindle down for dinner and stuff. The story did not pull me in and kept me reading on. Maybe it is just me or the fact I have issues concentrating during Covid-19 lockdown... It was just not the funny romcom I expected.

"She wants to steal his Van Gogh. He wants to steal her heart."

This was a good read about a woman on the run from a past and a man with a complicated life and an Elvis outfit!

I loved the funny place names and learning about bearded dragons.

Some very dramatic scenes towards the end.
