I am getting ready to homeschool my two sons and this book was really helpful in calming my nerves. I would highly recommend.
I enjoyed the practicalities of this book but the overall tone was quite pedantic and not reflective of a majority of Christian homeschoolers. I didn’t agree with all of her points so no doubt she would look down on me...
Christian homeschooling minus the stress by Sue Rumsley is a really helpful book for any homeschooling family or for any family interested in homeschooling. This book answered many if not all of my questions pertaining to homeschool and offered wonderful advice. I love how she walks the reader through the whole process of homeschooling. I found this book encouraging and it has helped me tremendously.
As a homeschooling mom who loves to read everything pertaining to home education and discipling my children, I was intrigued by this book and couldn’t wait to dive in. Sue Rumsley certainly provided a wonderful outline based on her own experience with her family that was well put together. However, a lot of the ideas presented I found to be a little “old school” to my taste and it seemed like something to aim for rather than practically carry out each day. Overall, I enjoyed reading through and was challenged to be more organized, more consistent and to help relieve some stress brought on by my own self in homeschooling.
I was curious to see the homeschooling process and how the author would handle the questions many homeschooling families have. While she had some solid points, I felt at times it conflicted with my own views and felt a little judgemental at times.
I felt like this book was a really strict look at one persons view of christianity/ homeschooling and how to have a happy home, and while it worked for her, it was a little to preachy for me. I would think that in this day and age a wife would be able to talk to her husband and have a voice, not just to follow blindly. So disappointed.
I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.
