What a wonderful story! Lots of twists and turns that keep you guessing throughout. All the characters are well drawn. The book was well written. And, the plot was terrific. You can't ask for more in a book. I highly recommend, "Conessions on the 7:45". It's a terrific read.

This book kept me turning pages but also skimming a lot. It has a lot of twists and turns, but it also has so many characters. Sometimes when one reappeared, it took me a while to reconnect. I did not predict how the characters connected until I was told which makes for a good read. I am not a fan of of last chapters that are written to tie up loose ends.

For fans of this genre, it will be a satisfying read. It is too drawn out and could use some editing no make the action flow better.

I absolutely loved this book! What a ride all the way to the end. For Girl on the Train fans, this is a must read.

I’m a huge Lisa Unger fan. She’s a master at creativity and edge-of-your-seat suspense. Confessions on the 7:45 is unique in that it is told from multiple viewpoints and, as a reader, we don’t know how all the narrators connect until later on in the book. I’m sure it was very difficult to pull this off as a writer, but boy was it rewarding as a reader. My advice to anyone who starts this is to stick with it and keep reading because the ending is fantastic. There are several nice surprises that will keep you guessing right up to the end.

A fast paced thriller with perhaps a predictable outcome but no less entertaining. Well developed characters that engage the reader completely I suspect this book will be very popular. Definitely gives a voice to scorned women even if it is a twisted one..

Lisa Unger consistently brings the suspense and the quirky. A wife discovers her husband is sleeping with the nanny. Another wife discovers her husband is sleeping with an analyst at the investment firm she runs. The analyst and the wife meet... exchange confidences... and we're off. Mixed in are several girls who seem to have disappeared after their mothers were murdered and a dogged detective. How are they all connected? We only find out at the very end of the book, although parts of the puzzle fall into place earlier. How many of the narrators are reliable? Even the reliable narrators seem questionable at times.

I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

Selena recently went back to work after her husband lost his job. She loves her new role as provider and career woman. But when she suspects her nanny is having an affair with her husband, she is not sure how to handle it. By chance she tells her dilemma to a woman on a late-night train. The woman seems oddly familiar, yet Selena does not know her.
Martha, the one from the train, is having an affair with her boss. Maybe she will work her way up in the company, or not considering her boss’s wife owns the company. Martha tells her story to Selena. She’s a stranger so nobody will ever know.
The two women, strangers, expect to never see each other again. But when a woman turns up missing, one must wonder if their meeting on the train was really an accident.
This book had me hooked from the beginning. Chapters switch viewpoints between Selena, Martha, and the people in their lives. There were so many twists. I had so many questions throughout the book that by the end I had to ask myself if they had all been answered. They had! All lose ends came together, but not in any way I expected! There was only one plot twist I predicted while the others were complete surprises.
I highly recommend!

Stella, an ordinary mom and wife, meets a friendly lady on the 745. Conversations start and confide with about personal circumstances. What’s the harm? They will never see each other again. But then texts start appearing from the lady on the train and life changes for many of the characters. This is a fast paced psychological thriller you don’t want to miss.

If you want to read a mystery full of twists, this is a good one. Calm, competent Selena is on the train home when she strikes up a conversation with a seat mate. This starts a tale of betrayal, murder, stalking and totally unexpected connections. Somehow the author pulls it all together. I hate coincidences but Unger manages to explain them away in a coherent manner.

So, I would recommend this book since it is interesting and fun to read. I need closure in my novels and Unger does manage to give it, despite the twists.

Thank you Netgalley for this interesting read.

Be careful who you tell your secrets to on a train. Lisa Unger has created a story with a very twisty journey to it.

It’s been awhile since a book consumed any free moments the last 24 hours of my day. This was definitely one of those can’t put down books.

Selena suspects her husband is cheating with the nanny. On her way home and stuck on a train, she meets a woman who confesses the adultery in her life, and Selena feels compelled to share her thoughts of her husband and his possible cheating. Selena goes home, thinking she’ll never cross paths with the woman on the train again. But then, her nanny disappears.... and her world is about to be turned upside down.

Selena lives a lavish life. Beautiful. Successful. A doting mother to her two boys and a devoted wife to her handsome husband. On the 7:45 train home, there is a momentary delay. Making small talk with the woman seated next to her, why does Selena spontaneously share a confidence with this random stranger?

Pearl lives a life of lies. Raised by a con artist to watch and find marks to bribe, she has had to reinvent herself more times than she cares to count. Encountering Selena on the 7:45 train was not accidental. Pearl methodically planned it like she plots every move she makes. But why?

Soon after the brief meeting with the beautiful stranger, Selena finds herself caught up in a police investigation of the disappearance of her nanny, forced to face the deceitful lies of her husband and pushed to learn the ugly truth of her father’s past.

Was the woman from the train connected or involved in any way to Selena’s life suddenly spiraling out of control and careening dangerously off the tracks?

Edge of your seat, exceptional plot and plenty of twists and sharp turns. Lisa Unger delivers an intense, rapid ride of suspense and thrilling anticipation in Confessions on the 7:45.

A definite must-read for anyone who loves a riveting, suspenseful thriller.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin—Trade Publishing (U.S. & Canada) Park Row for the read of Lisa Unger’s, Confessions on the 7:45: A Novel.

Opinions expressed in my reviews are my own.

I really liked this novel. It’s a fantastic read when you want something fast paced and mysterious, but not too heavy. Think beach read or vacation read. I don’t believe I’ve read anything else by this author, but am more inclined to do so now. The plot clipped along, but never felt rushed. I appreciate that, especially in this genre.

I don’t know what or who is more twisted, this novel or the characters in it !! This is definitely one of those thrillers that is best read when you have a long chunk of time to settle into it. I personally found at least the first third of the book to be quite confusing. Without giving anything away I will just say that there are multiple characters, multiple identities of these characters and we are moving from past to present. Picking it up and putting it down definitely won’t work for this one!!!

You know from the blurb that there are two women who meet on a train, the 7:47, and divulge secrets to each other. The novel is told from each of their points of view.

Selena has a troubled marriage. She is now the sole support for the family and she is angered with her husband, Graham’s, lack of job hunting. She loves her job but misses being at home with her boys, Oliver and Stephen. When she catches Graham cheating again, visibly seeing him on a nanny cam, that’s the last straw.

What ensues is really a story within a story. We will learn about how Selena and Martha, the woman she meets on the train, are connected and what will come of their meeting and shared secrets..

The nanny, Geneva, goes missing shortly after the encounter on the train. Does this have something to do with Martha? Is Graham or someone else in her life manipulating her and her choices? Selena’s ex, Will, seems the only one she can trust, or is he hiding secrets too? Oh boy, so many questions, so much going on.

As this mystery plays out we will learn more about Martha, who she really is, how and why she is determined to be a part of Selena’s life. Geneva is the really hard one to figure out. Selena had not checked her references before hiring her, big mistake!!!!!!!!!!

There is little I can say without spoilers except that I really enjoyed this thriller. It can really be called a psychological thriller because it includes several chilling characters with psychopathic tendencies. Don’t trust anyone!! This is a puzzle of a thriller that I think lovers of the genre will devour.

The novel is set to publish on October 6, 2020
I received an ARC of this novel from the publisher through NetGalley .

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Selena catches her husband in a duplicitous life and confides her unhappy situation to a stranger on a train. The tangled web of what happens next is compelling and unfathomable. I love the way the story lines come together in the novel's conclusion.

theburleybibliophile I am super excited to have gotten an #arc of #confessionsonthe745 from @launger @netgalley and @parkrowbooks !!! This book was absolutely amazing with plot twists that keep you turning the pages! #nospoilers but think #strangersonatrain! Make sure to pick this up October 6th!
The synopsis is courtesy of netgalley (I mean, why reinvent the wheel)! Selena Murphy is commuting home from her job in the city when the train stalls out on the tracks. She strikes up a conversation with a beautiful stranger in the next seat, and their connection is fast and easy. The woman introduces herself as Martha and confesses that she’s been stuck in an affair with her boss. Selena, in turn, confesses that she suspects her husband is sleeping with the nanny. When the train arrives at Selena’s station, the two women part ways, presumably never to meet again.

But days later, Selena’s nanny disappears.

Soon Selena finds her once-perfect life upended. As she is pulled into the mystery of the missing nanny, and as the fractures in her marriage grow deeper, Selena begins to wonder, who was Martha really? But she is hardly prepared for what she’ll discover.

A pleasant surprise. This thriller, mystery is outside of my usual reading preferences, so I was skeptical that I'd enjoy it, but it turned out to be quite a page turner. I figured out pretty quickly that Pearl is the future Anne, and that Anne was the older sister of Geneva, but all the rest of it, I had no idea until it was revealed in the novel. This book is definitely a huge complicated web of relationships and connections, and it kept my interest until the last word. Great read! Glad I picked this one up.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.

It took my about 3 weeks to get through this book. It was so long and boring. So much internal monologues and no action happening.
I didn’t like any of the characters. The story had potential but it fell flat. There were so many names mentioned, I didn’t feel like there was need for that.
Overall it was disappointing.

Selena Murphy is commuting from work one evening, after just watching her husband having an affair with their Nanny, Geneva, on the nanny cam she moved to the kid’s playroom. Upset and confused she confides in a stranger on the train that she thinks her husband is having an affair. The stranger, Martha, in turn confesses she is having an affair with her boss. A few days later Selena’s nanny disappears and Martha starts texting Selena even though Selena never gave her phone number.

This begins a game of cat and mouse with twist and turns in this well written psychological suspense thriller. Told from multiple perspectives, but primary from Selena. This is a cleverly written tale of deceit, infidelity, secrets and murder that takes you on a journey with an ending I never saw coming.

Although this is definitely a great story, it had some issues with the lack of timelines between chapters. It would have helped if the author would have let us know if we were reading something that happened in the past or the present. Many times I thought things were happening in the present and it was actually the past and vice versa. As a result I was a little lost more than once. I do recommend the book for those that love the genre! This is a good mystery that will leave you guessing until the end.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author, Lisa Unger, for the opportunity to read and give my honest review about this book.
