A really unique triumph of a book! Exploring a complicated family dynamic, full of individual struggles, mental health and familial love, The Jetsetters is about a family who love each other so much, but don't really know how to relate to each other anymore.
After winning a competition for a cruise, an elderly mother and her adult children go on a journey through europe, but also through their individual histories and traumas.
This was just incredibly beautifully written and I would recommend it.
I tried, I tried really hard to like this, but at 21% I quit. I just could not get into any of the characters, nor make myself care about the storylines either......I just couldn’t bear going back to pick up the book again. Many apologies, possibly due to my frame of mind, this was the wrong book at this time for this reader. Many thanks to the publisher.
This was a book about family dynamics and a depth that I was surprised by. I was expecting a light vacation read, but definitely more than I what I was expecting. The grandmother wins a cruise and invites her family along hoping that she can unite them.
But some harbour a secret that’s brought out throughout the book. The scenery described along the cruise will make readers envious and wish you was on it too.
I liked some characters more than others, each had their good bits/bad bits.
But each one felt like you knew them with what they were going through/had been through.
I was looking forward to reading this as I've read other books by this author and enjoyed them. Plus the theme of family dynamics and adult sibling relationships is one I'm usually drawn to. But I had to force myself to get through this and the style of it just wasn't for me.
I am sorry but I could not get into this book at all. The characters are too shallow and I did not really like the writing style.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.
I enjoye this book, first one ive read by Amanda Eyre Ward, it was easy reading, not fast pace, but I could read a bit, put it down and come back knowing where I had left of.
On the whole I enjoyed the story, enjoyed the characters, probably not meaty enough for me, but great if you just want and easy read quick book to get through or something different from your normal read.
I woudl recommend it to friends
